Montvale NJ, according to Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali the Township of Montvale received a notice this week about the Parkway service area informing us that the existing convenience store associated with the on-site fueling area will be demolished, and a new one-story convenience store will be constructed. Additional improvements to the site to include the parking, drainage and fueling canopy changes.
Elmwood Park NJ , single axle tanker truck filled with heating oil sideswiped a utility pole and crashed through a chain link fence, and up an embankment in the 900 block of River Drive, Elmwood Park on Monday morning, 11/20. No crash related injuries were reported in the incident and no oil leaked from the wrecked truck. River Drive was closed in both directions between the Garden State Parkway and Route 46 overpasses for an extended period to facilitate repair of the damaged pole and restoration of electric service to at least one (1) nearby home.
Montvale NJ, a hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl on the Garden State Parkway in Montvale early Thursday, according to the New Jersey State Police. The tragedy occurred around 5:02 a.m., on Thursday as the girl entered the path of an unidentified vehicle traveling south at milepost 171.1. The unknown vehicle struck the pedestrian, and a Chevrolet Tahoe, closely following, collided with the victim. The unidentified vehicle fled the scene, continuing south without stopping, while the Tahoe driver, realizing the collision, reported the incident to Troop “D” Bloomfield station. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed, and the investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing.
Based on an investigation at the scene, detectives determined that at approximately 9:24 p.m., a 2004-2006 black Acura TL with an unknown New Jersey license plate was traveling northbound on Eastern Parkway in Irvington in the area of the 143C entrance ramp. A juvenile pedestrian crossed the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.
Irvington NJ, NJ State Police are Seeking Public’s Assistance with Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Investigation. The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle crash investigation that occurred on the Garden State Parkway on Monday, October 9.
Paramus NJ, no serious injuries were reported in the early Friday afternoon, 01/13, crash of mini school bus at mile marker 164.8 southbound on the Garden State Parkway in Paramus. The vehicle had been traveling north on the busy highway, but veered to the left, off of the paved roadway when its driver swerved to avoid another vehicle. It then careened across a grass center median & all southbound travel lanes, and came to rest on the southbound, right side grass shoulder. A series of injury-free, chain reaction, crashes on the Parkway’s northbound side occurred immediately after the mini bus careened off of the highway. Two (2) mini bus occupants were transported by ambulance to a local hospital; injuries were reported to have been non-life threatening in nature. The mini school bus was driven off of Parkway property by a tow truck driver and parked at a nearby hotel. A dozen or so occupants (students and teachers) were transported to the Paramus Park shopping mall to safely await repair of the bus, or the arrival of alternate transportation. Ridgewood NJ, tolls are going up on Monday and reminded me of this toll sign from 1802 that’s in our collections. The inventory card notes it’s from the “Bergen Turnpike – Gate 5” and that it was discontinued in 1915. Received from the Board of Freeholders, 31-1/2” H, 25-1/2” W. “Excursions Rate” appears to be painted over and those carrying a heavy load w/2 horses pay more like trucks do today.

Paramus NJ, Paramus Police remind residents that the Bergen County Mosquito Control will be performing an early morning Truck Spray in Paramus on Thursday, 06/30/2022, between the hours of 4-6 AM. They will be spraying in the neighborhoods between the Garden State Parkway and Forest Ave, north of Midland Ave and South of E. Ridgewood Ave. They will be spraying duet adulticide to eliminate active, adult mosquitoes as well as Vectorbac larvacide to help control mosquito larvae. Please keep your windows closed if you are in this area or surrounding streets. In the event that it rains, the spray will be postponed until the following day. Bergen County Mosquito Control will also spraying in Moonachie on the same dates .
