Ridgewood NJ, as conflicts rage across the globe and the U.S. presidential election looms just three weeks away, trust in mass media is plummeting to new lows. A recent Gallup survey reveals that only 31% of U.S. adults say they have a “great deal” or “fair amount” of trust in the media to report news fully, fairly, and accurately—a record low since the survey began in 1972.

CENSORSHIP : Zuckerberg reveals plans to address misinformation on Facebook

Zuckerberg reveals plans to address misinformation on Facebook

Posted yesterday by Kate Conger (@kateconger)

Facebook’s fake news problem persists, CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged last night.

He’d been dismissive about the reach of misinformation on Facebook, saying that false news accounted for less than one percent of all the posts on the social media network. But a slew of media reports this week have demonstrated that, although fake posts may not make up the bulk of the content on Facebook, they spread like wildfire — and Facebook has a responsibility to address it.

“We’ve made significant progress, but there is more work to be done,” Zuckerberg wrote, outlining several ways to address what he called a technically and philosophically complicated problem. He proposed stronger machine learning to detect misinformation, easier user reporting and content warnings for fake stories, while noting that Facebook has already taken action to eliminate fake news sites from its ad program.

Aronsohn Floods Ridgewood League of Women Voters with Cronies and Political Hacks

Ridgewood NJ, the ex mayor Paul Aronsohn and his cronies have flooded the membership of the Ridgewood League of Women Voters. According to their website the League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization encourages the active and informed participation of citizens in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The League does not support or oppose any candidate or party. Operating on a non-profit, voluntary basis, its work is financed by dues and contributions from members and the general public. Membership is open to all citizens of voting age.

Readers claim, “This could be the LWV’s best-ever new member drive…or the worst, since nobody wants to be with those people. Newbies include Wyne, Winograd, Sonenfeld. All at once.” While other say ,”Aronsohn has now joined the league, and Rurik and Gwenn. Must miss.”

Most readers are quite skeptical over a group of clearly proven partisan hacks joining a supposed “non-partisan political organization” .Will attempts be made to manipulate the electorate and misrepresent  information like past Aronsohn campaigns ie… “the Vote Yes” for the Hudson Street garage campaign ? Or will Aronsohn be shut down in dead end political never land ?

And of coarse what about credibility ,just when the league had finally began to regain some relevance after years of filtering on the edge of extinction but who will now take them seriously ?

The “little guy” is now able to counter the misinformation and party politics in Ridgewood

Ridgewood Nj, this was taken from “it takes a Ridgewood Village ” Facebook page :

I just wanted to comment on the past two elections here in Ridgewood. We have seen the power of social media drive the results of the VC and Referendum contests. In the past, the public would have been spoonfed much more information from those in power (i.e. through such cultivated media such as the Ridgewood News, VOR email blasts, regular politics as usual campaigning).

The “little guy” is now able to counter the misinformation and party politics, at least at the local level, through such forums as this FB group, the Ridgewood Blog, etc.

It is very interesting how much information came out on the Mayor’s plans that never would have been revealed but for these forums.

It’s pretty cool and empowering! Unfortunately, it’s not really working on a state or national level yet…

Historic Preservation Commission Meeting : Yet another example of the misinformation regarding the presentation of the Hudson Street Parking garage For Ridgewood

hudson parking garage ridgewood

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Last night I videotaped the Historic Preservation Commission meeting and the full recording of everything I shot can be viewed here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOCBptQJMcs

My camera angle had an obstructed point of view of the drawings presented, but they can be viewed here:

https://www.ridgewoodnj.net/p…/423-hudson-street-parking-deck

Last night was unfortunately yet another example of how our local government is conducting business. The misinformation regarding the presentation of this parking garage is in glaring view.

For such a massive project that is going to cost us millions of dollars, why can’t we get a proper view of how this proposed garage is really going to look? Why isn’t there a 3D rendering, both virtual as well as a physical model built of the garage as well as the other buildings, so that we can truly understand what is being proposed? Why is the proposed garage still not residing inside of the municipal lot footprint? Why does the “Plan D” proposal that the Village Council voted in favor of on January 27th now have only one lane of vehicular travel, when for that vote there were two driving lanes?

Lastly, the treatment of Councilwoman Knudsen by other members of our government as well as the architectural firm was beyond reproach. Her concerns were dismissed by Commissioner Parillo – as was her vote. This is not how we treat a Councilwoman or anyone for that matter.

Once again, we as residents are faced with difficult choices. Many of us want a garage, but this is not how to do it.

On March 23rd, the Village Council will be voting on this proposed garage as well as the high density housing issue. I strongly encourage you to mark your calendars for that evening and to share your concerns with our Village Council and members of the Historic Preservation Commission in the meantime.

There is so much that can be done with improving our wonderful village, but let’s do it right and with care.

Thanks for listening.

Potential Ridgewood Council Candidate Letter to Editor contains “misinformation”

Hudson Street Garage bogus renderings

Ridgwood NJ, March 4th Edition of Ridgewood News features a letter to editor from Bob Hutton who is potentially running for the council in May.
Bob writes “The latest rendition seems to accomplish consensus on many levels – even one level less of a deck”.
This is absolutely WRONG. The plan D, which is currently being pushed by Council Majority is NOT one level less. It’s same as Plan A, with only few inches removed from each level – and is STILL 5 LEVELS. So, overall height is decreased by 3 feet, but a level is NOT reduced.
This type of misinformation is part of the campaign by current council majority and Bob Hutton will be one of them, and he has already proved this from this letter to editor.
