Tobin, C.Ss.R., archbishop of Newark, will ordain five men to the priesthood during the Rite of Ordination on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. in Newark’s Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Cardinal Tobin will also ordain four transitional deacons during a separate ordination at the Cathedral on Sunday, May 22, at noon.

Platkin and the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor today announced the arrest of a Newark doctor on charges of forgery, obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, and health care claims fraud. The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Union NJ, the New Jersey State Police have arrested Yazeed Shareef, 24, of Lindenwold, N.J., Kobie Harrison, 23, Nasir McQueen, 23, and Nyceem Corbit, 21, all of Philadelphia, P.A., and seized guns, hollow-point ammunition, high-capacity magazines, and drugs during an investigation that began after a State Trooper encountered one of the men walking on the New Jersey Turnpike in Union County.

NEWARK NJ, NJ TRANSIT’sBoard of Directors today approved an innovative and first of its kind all-inclusive professional services contract to perform Master Planning, Design Services, and Construction Support Services as part of a long-term project for the major restoration and renovation of historic Newark Penn Station. In addition, the Board of Directors approved funding for Phase One of the contract, which includes the preparation of a Master Plan and completion of a 10% concept design.

Ridgewood NJ, in the early morning hours of Monday November 1, 2021 Ridgewood Police were dispatched to a Howard Road residence for a report of a vehicle theft in progress. Patrol converged on the area and Sgt. Kyle Finch located the vehicle near the Ho-Ho-Kus Border. The vehicle began to flee and a short pursuit ensued, which was terminated a brief time later for the safety of officers, criminals and other people driving on the roadway at the time. Other area departments aided during the incident, and a juvenile actor, believed to be involved, was located (on foot) by a Waldwick Police Unit. The stolen vehicle was located and recovered by Ridgewood Police Detectives in Newark, NJ. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Police Detective Bureau.
Newark NJ, A former Newark city official and officer of the Newark Community Economic Development Corp. (NCEDC), along with two Newark business owners, were indicted today by a federal grand jury in connection with a conspiracy for the official to obtain corrupt payments intended to influence and reward him for assisting the business owners with the acquisition and redevelopment of various Newark-owned properties, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced.
