Governor Hochul and Governor Murphy Announce Major Step Toward Modernization of Penn Station

New York NY, NY Penn Station has been the bane of commuters for as long as we can remember  . Since the original Penn Stations  destruction in the 1960s, the station has become something mythic, a sacrificial lamb to the cause of historic preservation. Unfortunately for commuters the current Penn Station leaves much to be desired it is and had been a dump for generations . New York Governor Kathy Hochul with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy are not the first politicians to step in and attempt to fix the current mess but hopefully the time is right and commuters could see some relief .

NJ Transit Train Fatally Strikes Man In Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police and NJ Transit Police detectives are investigating the death of an individual who was struck by a NJ Transit Hoboken bound, Bergen Line train at the Boro Hall, Glen Rock train station. The incident was reported to have occurred at 9:22 am on Wednesday, 06/08.

NJ Transit : “Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow”

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is utilizing the month of June, designated as “National Safety Month by the National Safety Council, to launch an educational campaign for customers and employees.  This year’s theme is “Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow.”  The month will feature tips and reminders to reinforce safety on and near the transit system throughout New Jersey.  While the campaign will run during June, safety remains NJ TRANSIT’s top priority throughout the year.

One Person Transported to Valley Hospital Following Vehicle Collision With a NJ Transit Bus on Paramus Road

Paramus NJ, One (1) person was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital following a Tuesday afternoon, 05/24, crash between a NJ Transit Bus and an SUV in the 500 block of Paramus Road, Paramus. The SUV was towed from the scene by a flatbed. No word from police at the scene as to whether the victim was an occupant of the automobile or the bus. Damage to the bus also may have prevented it from moving on its own power. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS responded to the incident.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is headed to Monmouth Park Racetrack this season with a great discount package! Rail service for the 2022 season begins with the return of live racing this Saturday, May 7th. NJ TRANSIT customers can take North Jersey Coast Line trains to Monmouth Park Station when the track is open for live racing. This year, live racing runs through September 18th.

New Jersey Transit Police Reunite Commuter with Stolen Engagement Ring

Ridgewood NJ,  New Jersey Transit Police officers were happy to reunite a fiancé with her stolen engagement ring. She had been traveling on the Hudson Bergen Light Rail days prior when her ring was stolen. At that time, she reached out to NJTPD and officers Markowitz and Sullivan responded to assist. The officers reviewed surveillance footage and observed a suspect take the ring and flee from the area. ⁣

NJ Transit: Masks No Longer Required

Ridgewood NJ, The federal TSA announced that it will no longer enforce a mask mandate in public transportation settings. Masks will no longer be required on NJ TRANSIT and by South Jersey Transportation Authority. Individuals may wear a mask based on personal preference, informed by personal level of risk.

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today announced his intention to nominate Carlos A. Medina, Esq, Kiabi Carson, and Evan Weiss to the NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors. The Governor will also directly appoint Rashonda Brown and Karen Thomas to serve on the board. As the Murphy Administration continues to improve and invest in NJ TRANSIT, the new members will bring “fresh and diverse” perspectives to the Board.

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver, NJDOT Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chair Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti and NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett  announced on Monday ,February 28th the fifth consecutive year of no fare increases for NJ TRANSIT and that Wi-Fi will be installed on all NJ TRANSIT buses .

NJ TRANSIT ADDING ADDITIONAL MULTILEVEL RAIL CARS

Ridgewood NJ, the NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors today approved the purchase of 25 additional Multilevel III rail cars. The purchase exercises options on the original December 2018 contract with Alstom for the purchase of 113 new Multilevel III rail cars.  The additional 25 cars in this action are funded as part of the Portal North Bridge project which will increase peak-hour peak-direction customer capacity.
