Ridgewood NJ, a reader summed it up best,” Moving the school board election to November would not alter the public’s ability to vote for the best board candidates, which would happen whenever the election was held. It would in fact improve nothing and serve only to remove residents’ ability to approve or disapprove of the proposed budget. Our school budgets have become bizarrely bloated and represent moneys that are not appropriate for the size of the town. We deserve the right to vote for or against them.”

Ridgewood NJ, the vote suppression group One Village One Vote has now headed to the courts to fight the Village of Ridgewood’s rejection of their voter disenfranchisement and voter suppression petition .
Dear Ridgewood Community,
Today, August 13, we submitted a “supplemental petition” to the Village Clerk to cure the defects she identified with our original submission. The law allowed us just ten days to fix the issues identified by the Clerk, collect new signatures, and resubmit. Thanks to tremendous support from the community we were able to meet this tight deadline. And we did so with 582 signatures from Ridgewood voters, once again well more than the 410 threshold needed to put the question to consolidate Ridgewood’s elections on the ballot in November as a binding initiative.

Ridgewood NJ, resident Steve Kim posted the following comment on Facebook, “Many of you remember how painful it was when Ahronson, Hauck and Pucciarelli gave away the soul of Ridgewood to the developers. If you need a reminder, just drive around downtown. Soon enough school enrollment will exhibit the net effect. That all started with what seemed innocuous at first. One Vote is a second coming attempt to get the better of the residents, and to realize the vision the original group pined for. You don’t have to believe me. I do urge you to do a careful inspection of what is happening before permanently signing away your rights. There is more to this than meets the eye.”
Dear Ridgewood Community
Thank you again for your ongoing support for One Village One Vote and our efforts to consolidate Ridgewood’s local elections to November. As a quick update, the Village Clerk has rejected our petition. After the Clerk’s office declined to provide guidance on the proper approach to writing the petition, we tried to use friendly language within the petition and collected it electronically as permitted under our understanding of Gov. Murphy’s Executive Order 132. The Clerk has now notified us of two deficiencies with the petitions:

Ridgewood NJ, During Wednesday night’s Village Council Work Session, Ridgewood Village Clerk/Manager Heather Mailander refused to certify the controversial “One Village One Vote” petition, which was submitted by a group of five (5) petitioners who are seeking to consolidate all Ridgewood local elections into the month of November.

“Is it true that Sheila Brogan is making phone calls to gather support for One Vote? Sheila received one six month extension to her term when elections were originally moved from April to Nov.
In her current term also, she received an extension. Her current term was supposed to expire in Nov 2020. When council moved election to April, the board used tax payer money to file a court case and extended Sheila’s term to April 2021. Now if the election moves back to November, her term will extend again to Nov 2021, giving her a third 6 month extension over the years and making her current term a 4 year term instead of a 3 year term.”

“The Blog has stated the facts. One Village One Vote would take away our ability/right to vote on the school budget which I believe represents almost 2/3 of our overall budget:Municipal and Board of Education combined. Many of the people in this group promoted the original plan for the giant garage that would have extended its’ footprint into Hudson Street, taken parking off the streets and dwarfed Mount Carmel for starters.. They supported the large Valley expansion plans. If you have any doubts about what that would have done to the community, take a ride over to Winters Avenue and see what the construction site looks like. They also pushed for the high density housing ordinances which have negatively impacted the entire town especially the CBD possibly for years to come. They were supporters of Paul, Albert, Gwenn and VM Roberta. These were bad years for the town politically . They voted in bloc and disregarded public input.”

Ridgewood NJ, “One Village One Vote” has been promoting taking the right to vote on the school budget away from tax payers . This group helped destroy the Village by supporting high density housing, Valley expansion, the original five story garage that would have encroached into the street, attacking Our Lady of Mount Carmel and calling the deputy Mayor a Nazi in flyers during the last election.

Matt Lindenberg says ,”I don’t know anyone on the BOE, and I’m not familiar with an RPDP. I’m just a private concerned citizen who respectfully believes that we’re better served when we hold our local elections in November when there is a demonstrated history of significantly higher turnout. My opinions are my own, and not pushed by the BOE or REA.
I know there are those who disagree, and I respect that. I’m willing to have a reasonable discussion of the issues if folks are willing to identify themselves (as I continue to do here) and chat like neighbors.”
