Paramus NJ, a trio of ski shop thieves who hit the same store twice were arrested last week after a chase that saw two suspects flee along the Route 17.
Paramus NJ, no injuries were reported following the Friday afternoon, 11/18, crash of a NJ Transit bus into a utility pole on East Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus, adjacent to the New Jersey Veterans Home and New Bridge Medical Center campuses. The driver was the only occupant on the bus at the time of the crash. No disruptions to utility services were reported in connection with the mishap. Paramus Police and Paramus Fire Department units responded to the incident.
Paramus NJ, no injuries were reported following a Tuesday morning, 10/18, multiple vehicle crash on Route 17 northbound near Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus, in which one (1) vehicle rolled over on its side, and another careened off of the highway into a stationary roll-off container and adjacent building. Two (2) vehicles were towed from the scene. Damage to the building appeared to have been cosmetic in nature only. Paramus Police and Paramus Fire Department responded to the incident.
Paramus NJ, the adult driver of a KIA Sportage escaped injury during an early Wednesday afternoon, 10/05, crash in which the vehicle jumped two (2) concrete traffic control islands as it careened across busy West Midland Avenue in Paramus. and slammed into a detached garage and fence. A traffic control sign was flattened as well. Paramus Police and Paramus Fire Department responded to the mishap. The damaged vehicle was towed from the scene.

Paramus NJ, Paramus Police captured at least four (4) occupants of a BMW sedan that crashed in the rear of a Pleasant Avenue, Paramus business while being pursued by several Paramus patrol vehicles on Monday morning, 09/05. Two (2) Paramus police cruisers were heavily damaged during the pursuit; they were both removed by flatbed tow trucks. The BMW sedan was also damaged and towed away. An ambulance transported one (1) individual involved in the pursuit to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus with non life threatening injuries. Rochelle Park Police assisted in the transport of prisoners to Paramus Police Department headquarters.

Swatting is a criminal harassment tactic of deceiving an emergency service (via such means as hoaxing an emergency services dispatcher) into sending a police or emergency service response team to another person’s address. This is triggered by false reporting of a serious law enforcement emergency, such as a bomb threat, murder, hostage situation, or a false report of a mental health emergency, such as reporting that a person is allegedly suicidal or homicidal and may or may not be armed, among other things.
Ridgewood NJ, Thursday evening, 08/25, high speed pursuitof an alleged DUI driver that originated in Ridgewood, terminated in a crash with injuries in the parking lot of Home Goods on Route 17 southbound in neighboring Paramus. Multiple parked vehicles were reportedly damaged by the fleeing black colored BMW in downtown Ridgewood, and several moving & parked vehicles were hit in Paramus. At least two (2) individuals were injured in the Paramus crashes. The suspected DUI driver, an adult male reportedly from East Orange, was captured quickly by Paramus Police and turned over to Ridgewood Police for processing.

Paramus NJ, the adult male operator of a motor trike (a 3-wheeled motorcycle) sustained a serious leg injury during a Friday morning, 08/12, single vehicle crash in the 100 block of West Century Road in Paramus. A traffic light at the driveway entrance to The Frisch School and Country Club Plaza office complex was downed when the motor trike plowed into it. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Borough of Paramus Public Works Department employees began the process of repairing and re-erecting the downed traffic light shortly after the victim was removed from the scene by ambulance. A flatbed tow truck removed the damaged vehicle from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, A two (2) vehicle Thursday morning, 08/04, crash with rollover on Broadway eastbound near Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn resulted in massive rush hour traffic back ups on Broadway/Route 4 and Route 208. Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department, and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue responded to the incident. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS assisted. A flatbed tow truck righted the flipped vehicle (a Honda Civic), and removed both wrecks from the scene.

Rochelle Park NJ, Three (3) men were quickly apprehended in connection with a late Monday afternoon, 08/01, multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 southbound near East Passaic Street, Rochelle Park, that involved a white Mercedes SUV that was being pursued by Paramus Police units. The Mercedes had allegedly been stolen recently from Manalapan, NJ. At least two (2) tow trucks were observed removing wrecked vehicles from the clogged highway. A pursuing Paramus Police patrol vehicle was reportedly one of the vehicles damaged in the pileup. One (1) injury was linked to the incident; a Paramus EMS ambulance was dispatched to aid the adult female victim, who sustained a non-life threatening leg injury. Maywood Police and Rochelle Park Police officers aided in the capture of the suspects who had fled the crashed Mercedes.
Fair Lawn NJ, An unknown number of summonses were issued by Fair Lawn Police late Wednesday morning, 07/20, in connection with an incident in which individuals were observed riding on the roof of a repurposed mini school bus while it was being driven on Route 208 northbound in Fair Lawn. The vehicle had initially been spotted driving on Route 4 westbound in Paramus, near Paramus Road. Paramus Police notified Fair Lawn Police via two-way radio to be on the lookout for the vehicle on Broadway or on Route 208.
