The phrase “digital divide” dates back to the internet technology boom of the 1990s, a time when only wealthy parents and schools could put emerging information technology in the hands of children and hardly any downside could be envisioned.

November 25, 2020

Dear Paramus Community,
Throughout this school year, our approach to designing, implementing, and adjusting our learning models has remained consistent in its prioritization of health and safety above all else. As a community, we have come together in our adherence to the enhanced health and safety protocols that have allowed our school buildings to remain safe places for our staff and in-person students to participate in the learning process. While we have needed to implement COVID-19 related quarantines of student and staff groups (you may view data related to these quarantines on the district’s new COVID-19 Quarantine Dashboard), our number of confirmed in-school transmissions of COVID-19 remains at zero.

Ridgewood NJ, Rather than eliminating our right to vote, we have many options to eliminate safety concerns at schools on election days.
1) Have professional development day on election day.
2) Now with remote learning, it can be a remote learning day.
Which by the way, our schools already practice. One Village One Voice is misleading residents and using fear to take away your vote. VOTE NO!

Europe debates whether to reopen schools and how to best protect students and teachers

Ridgewood NJ, according to Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, like most of the rest of the world, European countries have been debating whether to reopen schools and how to best protect students and teachers. Public Health England conducted enhanced surveillance among schools that reopened between June 1-July 31 in order to provide better information regarding SARS-CoV-2 transmission risk in school settings. While approximately 80% of schools remained open in some capacity during the UK lockdown to support certain priority groups (eg, children of healthcare workers), the vast majority of children did not attend in-person classes. In June, the number of students attending schools increased from 475,000 to more than 1.6 million.

Teacher says, “Don’t diminish teachers, they are the ones who are with your kids all day”

“As a teacher this is so discouraging to read. If you feel your tax money is going all to the school and the teachers are “ineffective” move elsewhere. My districts teachers have zero say in the decisions happening. It is sad you place blame on teachers being lazy when several go above and beyond to help children succeed and please parents. Remote learning in the spring was far from a vacation for me, it was difficult but I would rather do that than potentially get sick or infect a family member. Don’t diminish teachers, they are the ones who are with your kids all day.”
