“This is so sad. The kids were playing at a decent hour. So they were being considerate of their neighbors.
Let the kids play!
I grew up playing ball in the street and in my neighborhood the parents were understanding and tolerant of the fact that we were just looking for a place to play, so they made sure the cars were out of our way. That was very cool of them! On the few occasions that a car was “in the way” we incorporated that into our game.
Moral of the story is that the neighbors who thought the “noise” was a nuisance could have knocked on their neighbor’s doors before alerting the police. AND likewise, the police shouldn’t have stopped the kids because they didn’t violate ANY ordinances whatsoever.”

Being a candidate for local office can be thankless position to have Your Turn
Paul Vagianos Guest columnist
The Record and northjersey.com recently reported that Ridgewood Mayor Ramon Hache was being investigated by the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) for failure to correctly report several hundred dollars of campaign contributions (“Ridgewood mayor hit with money complaint,” Page 1L, Oct. 8).
It is important to put this matter into perspective. Mayor Hache was a first-time candidate running for local office as a councilman. ELEC regulations, while critically important to our free and fair electoral process, are a maze of laws and filing requirements that can be confusing to a seasoned veteran of multiple elections. In this instance, the mayor’s campaign treasurer was his wife.
The vast majority of local elections are waged by residents who want to contribute their time and efforts to their town. If you’ve ever attended a local council meeting, you’ve seen that it is perhaps the most thankless job in the world. Most meetings have little or no attendance unless an issue has upset some of the local residents – in which case, watch out.
Those are the meetings that go on for hours, well into the wee hours of the morning with residents criticizing and often attacking local council people. For their efforts, members of the council in Ridgewood are paid $2,500 – the mayor gets $5,000. For the hours they put in, that amount doesn’t even begin to approach the minimum wage. Most people are unwilling to serve their community under these circumstances.
If this isn’t enough to discourage good people from running for local office, ELEC has filed a complaint against a local official because his wife didn’t keep good records of his campaign contributions. To make matters worse, The Record portrayed the matter as something far more serious than what it actually is: a local resident running for office in a small town who didn’t file all the forms correctly.
We’re not talking about someone running for governor or U.S. Senate who can afford to hire a paid professional to ensure that these forms are filed correctly. We’re talking about a local guy who just wanted to give back to his community.
It’s difficult enough to get good people to run for local office. This just makes it that much harder.
Ridgewood NJ, In observance of the Columbus Day holiday, all Village offices will be closed Monday, October 14th. Sanitation and Recycling schedules will be suspended that day. The Recycling Center will also be closed.

First of all I would like to “thank” whatever neighbor complained about my son’s band playing today. These teenagers could be out drinking and doing drugs but instead are playing music every weekend together in my garage!!I thought Ridgewood was sooooo into the “arts”???Sorry for the rant but can’t believe that the police would have to shut them down when playing from 4-6 pm???I call about dogs barking at 3am and can’t get anything done!!!
Ridgewood NJ, The New England Patriots reportedly signed former Chargers kicker and RHS Football’s Younghoe Koo to practice squad. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Patriots have signed kicker Younghoe Koo to the practice squad. The news comes shortly after the team reportedly signed veteran Mike Nugent to the active roster.
The 25-year-old Koo first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017.
Koo went just 3-of-6 in field goals before being let go after four games. The former Ridgewood Maroon Koo has not kicked for an NFL team since but did have success in the short-lived AAF earlier this year. Koe went 14-of-14 on field-goal attempts with the Atlanta Legends. However, his longest field goal was just 38 yards.
” The irony is that all affordable housing and high-density building increase taxes and make everything more expensive. Yet NJ and especially RW keep voting left. The insanity is staggering. The other I keep pulling my hair about is that new family that buy-in RW the first thing they do is cut trees in their yard and complain about curb trees. The same people who predicate man-made climate change and other feelgood bullshit. “

If you researched or had lived here for more than 5 years, you would know that the Bloods are an outstanding family who have given so much to Ridgewood and its residents over that last 40+ years.
You won’t find their names plastered on buildings, instead they have helped individuals in quiet ways, often providing for individuals whose own families would no longer help them.
Everything around is about science, but it cannot be denied that science, as a subject in school, can be quite challenging. On the other hand, science is actually quite interesting and fun. Learning science can create a significant positive impact for your child. This is the reason why when you see signs that your little one is interested in science, encourage his/her curiosity, and inspire your child to be a scientist. Apart from this, there are several other reasons below.
Scientists have a natural love for learning.
Motivate your little one to be a scientist because scientists have a natural love for learning. A great life lesson to teach your children is to continuously learn, explore and discover. They will surely benefit from this trait one day. Science is a great avenue to do so because it offers a wide variety of topics to explore. Consider getting your children a STEM subscription box because this is a great program to continuously learn. With a subscription, you will be getting a new toy, complete with all instructions, to experiment with monthly. This will foster your child’s eagerness to unceasingly learn because for them, it seems like they are merely playing with a toy. These are age-appropriate educational toys, with some even designed for toddlers and preschoolers. There are also those suited for older kids, as well as pre-teens.
Scientists are critical thinkers.
Encourage your kid to be a scientist because scientists are critical thinkers. Critical thinking is important because it allows your child to make logical decisions that paves the way for problem-solving strategies and techniques. Critical thinking is not restricted to science and it is necessary in all aspects and various areas such as in the financial sector, medical field, and in the industry overall. Apart from this, critical thinkers are curious by nature, which is important to understand all the things around us. Critical thinking also enhances creativity, reinforces problem solving abilities, and fosters independence. All these traits are definitely beneficial for your child.
Scientists open the doors to various disciplines.
Persuade your child to be a scientist because scientists open the doors to various disciplines. For instance, science likewise encourages your child to learn mathematics because math is the primary language of science. In addition to this, to understand how stuff works now entails the need to know how things worked before, paving the way for your child to learn a bit about history. Writing and language are also other disciplines which are directly related to science. Thus, it can be said that scientists are not only experts in the field of science, but they are also adept in mathematics, history, and language.
Scientists provide an overview of the future.
The previous discoveries of scientists enabled mankind to experience technological advancements in different fields. Biomedical science brought about several cures for various diseases. Agricultural science, for instance ensures that there is food on the table, while physics and mechanical science are all about your actions and motion and how it can be optimized. Nevertheless, the future greatly depends on the scientists of today, as well as the budding scientists such as your little one.
Thereby, if you are wondering how you can encourage your child to become a scientist, then try some of the tips below.
1. Introduce your child to real scientists. Apart from getting him all familiar with the famous scientists of all times, acquaint him with living scientists such as those usually in the science museum or local university. Give your child a chance to interact with them to allow them to have an idea of what it is like to become a real scientist.
2. Persuade your child to ask questions. Scientists love to ask endless questions of how and why. When your child starts to speak up and become inquisitive, try to answer his inquiries instead of shrugging him off.
3. Let your child take things apart. While you may be bothered by the mess that your little one might create, try not to think about it. Instead, encourage him to go ahead and take things apart, before trying to put it together again.
To wrap things up, it cannot be denied that science is part of life and it is everywhere. Science is challenging, interesting and fun. This world needs more scientists and their discoveries to continuously progress and heal. Hence, you can never go wrong in encouraging your little one to become a scientist. The traits of a scientist are traits that are meaningful for your child’s growth.

We do not want any police officers or civilians injured or killed in an attempt to catch the actors.
