Many, many Catholic faithful are not complicit in the least with the moral depravity among the priests. They remain faithful and are further growing in their faith, but are sadly struggling to hear the shepherd’s voice. The baneful influence of the Modernist heresy seeks to rot the faith from the inside out until the whole structure of the institutional Church can appear to outsiders to be at risk of collapse. The moral misbehavior of bishops and cardinals is a symptom of this modernist-fomented rot and should therefore never be considered in isolation from other such symptoms if one seeks to understand the true plight of the church. The Catholic laity still desperately need true spiritual leadership but the same is becoming harder and harder to find in any given diocese. The public weaknesses of many of our prelates really do tend to scandalize the faithful and cause many to turn away from the faith. It’s a shame but it takes time to recover with backsliding always being a possibility (or a present reality).
Voting Knudsen. like her and trust her. Sonenfeld was bad for village and she’s lying to get her job back. Be very careful before you know it you’ll be bowing to the toxic mix of Village Manager Sonenfeld, Mayor Voight and two aronsohm Hauck puppets named Willett and Harwin. Vagianos is salivating to bring back the huge garage and Delzio is warming up the bulldozer to clear cut the schwdler.
Don’t you get it. Ridgewood is already ruined. I know the four multi family monstrosities are not yet built. But they will be. In five years Ridgewood will be unrecognizable and a very crowded unpleasant place to live. And what about the unintended consequences of the four apt. complexes; water problems, sewage problems, crime; dangerous streets from too many vehicles, noise , vehicle pollution.
It doesn’t matter who wins this election. The damage is done. Your taxes will sky rocket most likely; the profit from renting the apts. will not cover the new problems.
As I said previously, we have no candidates with new ideas running. Sedon and Susan may have done nothing visible but push the garage that no-one wants anymore, but they haven’t done too much actual damage to Ridgewood. Aronsohn’s puppets will just pick up where they left off. That means that they will promote even more outlandish development in town, and may revert to that huge garage when basically we don’t want any. Everyone who cares at all about Ridgewood, or who plans to live here a few more years MUST VOTE. If you can’t stomach voting for any of them, you still must vote. Otherwise Aronson’s people will be a shoe in as they will be the only ones to draw the voters. If you stay home, you choose the puppets because they will win by default. All you can do this time is to vote for the current council and then spend some time finding someone with the kind of knowledge we need to lead this town.
FOUR years later. And from a disgraced former village manager who created an HR position for one pal from Bergen Leads and more or less gave the house at Habernickel to another for low rent who is now running roughshod over the neighborhood while absorbing endless village services. She should talk! As for not voting, that is a copout. I could not count how many times in my life I have voted for the lesser o two, three, or more evils. It is never true that all candidates are alike. If you must, choose the ones you dislike the most, hold your nose, and vote for the others. More Aronsohn acolytes on the council would be a disaster as Voigt voted with them and created another “council majority” to do Aronsohn’s bidding. To wait for the perfect candidate would be to abdicate from your civic responsibility.
New York New York, In an a scathing op-ed published Friday in the Wall Street Journal, Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York lamented that the Democratic Party’s shifting principles have effectively shut out and alienated orthodox Catholics.
Dolan cited the Democrat’s current opposition to school choice programs and tax credits for education, along with their unwavering support for abortion rights, among the reasons why he is disappointed with the party in its current state. Dolan said believes that the Democrats of today have abandoned many of the tenets that made the party attractive to Catholics generations ago.
Dolan was particularly critical of a proposed New York law titled the “Reproductive Health Act,” which he says would “morbidly expand” the “most radical abortion license in the country.” The New York State Assembly is overwhelmingly Democrat.
“For instance, under the proposed Reproductive Health Act, doctors would not be required to care for a baby who survives an abortion. The newborn simply would be allowed to die without any legal implications,” wrote Dolan.
What’s more, Dolan explained, is that he feels the Democrats are making it harder for low and middle-class children to get an education at a Catholic school.
“In recent years, some Democrats in the New York state Assembly repeatedly blocked education tax credit legislation, which would have helped middle-class and low-income families make the choice to select Catholic or other nonpublic schools for their children,” said Dolan. The cardinal said this type of legislation impedes the mission of these schools to serve poor, often immigrant, children.
Dolan admitted that while he has “ had spats and disappointments” with politicians from both major political parties in the United States, he is particularly upset by the Democratic Party’s swing in a direction that excludes people like his grandmother.
“But,” he said. “It saddens me, and [it] weakens the democracy millions of Americans cherish, when the party that once embraced Catholics now slams the door on us.”
The Cardinal, 68, said DNC Chairman Tom Perez insisted in 2016 that pro-life candidates have no place in the modern Democratic Party.
“The ‘big tent’ of the Democratic Party now seems a pup tent,” he said.

How much money is being spent to address this?
. RIDGEWOOD #26 in NJ | #583 in National Rankings | Not Ranked in STEM Schools | College Readiness Score 53.6/100.0
.
Maybe Gorman or Fishbein can write one of their useless letters or columns to address this…
Admittedly, we have been here since Jan 1971. When we moved in, the taxes were about half of what we now pay (and we thought they were very high then!). When we moved in Ridgewood was in the highest grouping in both national and state rankings. When we moved in there were approximately half the number of support staff. When we moved in, Ridgewood had some internal problems, Glen school had a Kindergarten teacher who actually told me “What did I do to deserve your child? She claims that kindergarten is for reading, writing, and arithmetic when the state law clearly states that that is not what kindergarten is for. I had a student just like her first semester and I had him promoted to first grade.” This was after I had already been told that both my first and second graders would have to be skipped because they were too far ahead of the comparable classes of Glen School students. And we came from an inner city public school! This is the point that the Ed center hired several “specialists” to make sure each school was learning the same material as the others. But the schools were far better then than now. Gifted and talented was a class in the grade schools–not now. Ridgewood has to spend so much time and money on special education that the gifted, and non-gifted, are given no extra challenges. Read the paper. Does Ridgewood participate in robots and all the other advance things that most of the area schools send students to compete in. Even the Debate team (if it still exists) never receives any recognition. Athletes, sure, but non-athletic competitions do not seem to exist any more. Yet our budget gets bigger and bigger with Ridgewood continuing to go down in almost every way. Our high school has decided one lunch period is sufficient. The cafeteria was designed for multi period uses and is too small for one lunch period. Kids actually eat sitting on hall floors. And we say we’re “excellent”?
Why does anyone care what Roberta, Halaby or any of the other blowhards (that seem to think they are the only ones in this town that have a brain) have to say? Am i concerned about the ability of the current mayor to separate herself from her family situation and do what’s right for this town and it’s finances…yes, but to even think about the option of having some wannabe politicians who are going to push their special interest agenda, all in the hopes of financing some future political career is way more terrifying. We need to elect people that have some basic understanding of municipal economics and realize that this town’s tax base is not an ever increasing piggy bank. This and future councils have to be held accountable for every dime they spend or budget for….we all as taxpayers have to take larger roles in policing future councils in order to keep people from leaving this Village because it’s just not affordable to live. Who really cares what Roberta has to say, she’s proven time and again (contrary to what Mr Halaby thinks) that she was a complete and utter failure as manager of this town. As for Halaby, this guy is funny…..he’ll rant and rave about how not one dime should be spent on Schedler but is as vocal as anyone that this town’s future is wholly dependent on spending $11 million on a garage that is clearly not needed. I do look forward to his lectures on constitutional law and his waving of the American flag at council meetings…let those clowns attack the mayor or anyone else who doesn’t fallen in line…who cares? They are irrelevant at best.

Ridgewood NJ, Wow Roberta shouldn’t be writing a letter in the Ridgewood News about nepotism. After all when Roberta was Village Manager she was one of the reasons tax payers are stuck with a below market value rent lease at the gatehouse. Roberta’s BFF Stacey Antine from which she knows from a Bergen school they graduated from got a fabulous lease on the gatehouse and a sweet contract for her business. Talk about helping a non tax payer succeed in Ridgewood and personally making sure her business is a success. Not only did Roberta help Stacey, Tim also provided services Healthbarn needed during his time with Parks and Rec.
Since Tim’s departure Nancy Bigos has continued in his place assuring Healthbarn weeps benefits other businesses don’t have access too. Such as classes that run thru Parks and Rec that are run at Healthbarn. Village claims it’s a partnership but Village doesn’t share in her profits. After all Healthbarn is still having its own classes during the Parks and Rec classes so who is helping who succeed?
It’s always baffled me how she got such a sweet deal but then I realized who backed her, the past council excluding Michael & Susan who voted against it. Roberta and Tim helped her along the way giving her perhaps inside information when she presented at VC meeting, because what she presented and what actually goes on isn’t the same. Replacing Tim with Nancy doesn’t change anything since she was one of the pack who brought this business to a neighborhood. It’s time to reflect on how much this business costs the tax payers and think about who has the tax payers back?
With Healthbarn violating her lease on several occasions and from what the neighbors can tell not getting fined only shows that they support the business not the residents.
Enough stop supporting Healthbarn and start supporting the taxpayers needs and concerns!!!!
Ridgewood will soon rank #1 in the state for taxes. Every Village administrator thinks money grows on trees and continues to use it wildly without contemplating the effect on the residents. I have actually been told “What’s YOUR problem? THIS is RIDGEWOOD and we can afford ANYTHING.” In many cases we can conveniently forget about losses incurred (Health Barn, Valet program, parking meters, proposed garage etc.) as Ridgewood has plenty of money so we can afford to experiment. The worse thing about the above is that NONE of these esteemed people can open their eyes, ears and noses (some of these actions have raised a huge stink (Health Barn and others) and see the problems, listen to the tax payers, and accomplish anything but throwing good money after bad. And this DOES include everyone running for election as well as others (the School Board etc.)
