Please sign the petition to implement the adopted Schedler Park plan.

At a recent meeting, the new Village Council moved to replace the Schedler Park plan (approved

by Resolution 18-236), adding a full-sized regulation turf field. The approved plan, now in jeopardy, balanced the needs of the impacted neighborhood, sports groups, conservationists, historians, and taxpayers and included a 75×50 multi-use field. With required oversight from the State of NJ Historic Preservation, the plan was moving forward with expected completion by late spring 2023.

Ridgewood NJ, once Major League Baseball star Tug McGraw when he was asked whether he preferred grass or Astroturf replied : “I dunno. I never smoked any Astroturf.” While the Village debates the soundness of the idea of putting a turf field on Route 17 , thousands of dollars of shrubbery on the berm has died . Apparently neglect ,high winds, no water and poor air quality did them in.

URGENT MESSAGE about SCHEDLER PARK in Ridgewood

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood’s Historic Schedler Property is the only physical barrier protecting an entire Ridgewood neighborhood from the harmful pollutants of Route 17, a major transportation corridor.

The tree and green-filled parcel (7+ acres)  filters out light, noise, visual, airborne particulates, gaseous pollutants, and air toxics emitted by nearby diesel truck and motor vehicle activity. Equally important, it protects property values and helps deter crime.

Ridgewood NJ, when Lauren Cuneo, a Board Member of the Maroons Soccer Club for the past 7 years, spoke during Wednesday night’s Village Council meeting in support of constructing a larger, artificial turf playing field with permanent lighting at Schedler Park, she publicly revealed what many Ridgewood taxpayers suspect will ultimately be the primary deciding factor in Village Council’s decision making process regarding Schedler.

Ridgewood NJ, immediately after her election, Winograd is painting a much different picture — one of dubious, straightforward deception. Pre-election Winograd promised a youth athletic field and walking path at Schedler Park. At the last Village Council Meeting, Post election Winograd announced her plan to level Schedler Park with a massive adult 90ft field, permanent lights and the largest netting possible.

No, There is Not Going to Be a full-size baseball field at Schedler

schedler field 2

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog has picked up chatter that the 2014 plan for a 90-foot baseball field was still on at Schedler.

According to Mayor Ramon Hach the plan for 90-foot baseball diamond was discarded in 2016. The Village Council decided to move forward with a new design that was proposed by the Schedler Ad hoc Committee in 2017. The new design includes a protective berm, a playground, a walking path, 44 parking spaces, restrooms and a 75×50 yard multi-purpose which will take up about 1/4 the space of a full-size baseball field. Ridgewood NJ, new concerns arise over the Schedler project. Most likely to increase ventilation The protective windows had slits for ventilation but protected anyone/thing from entering were removed and windows left open. As you can see from the picture the shutters were left thrown on the ground.

Reader says the Ridgewood Council Can’t Please Everyone

69871200 2548212938532290 9069006101873164288 o

“Well they are not pleasing everybody all the time; that is for sure. I am totally against the parking garage. I am for the Schedler house but not the property being developed. I am for the renovation of the library. so there.

The Village suit it turned out had no legality. It was turned down by the courts. The current council had no power to change the density of the multi family housing. The suit was about limiting the density to 25 or 30 units. It was not about stopping the housing from going up. That was passed by the the Three Amigos with the high density of 50 units per acre instead of 25. Plus the current council limited the size the garage to fit the current lot; because a larger garage would have been too ugly. Although I wanted NO GARGARE; I appreciate the current size decision even if it costs more money. I don’t want any garage I repeat. Aesthetics are very important to me.”

Reader Blames Current Council for the Elks club purchase, the library’s proposed “beautification” and the throwing away money on the useless Schedler house reconstruction

63891456 2385753121485754 2123179682202386432 n

” This Council has been totally responsible for the purchase of the Elks club, the library’s proposed “beautification” and the throwing away of massive amounts of money on the totally useless Schedler house reconstruction. And, if they had deigned to side with the citizens of the Village’s suit, they would have been able to put some reasonable halts to the over construction agreed on by the previous Council. They have happily been tossing money around as frequently as the prior Council while saying “they were doing the will of the people” which is just one of their many fabrications as to why things are being done that have clearly been opposed by the current residents of Ridgewood. “

Reader : Disaster Thy Name is SCHEDLER!”

“The average value of a house in Ridgewood is far below what the Council wants to spend on Schedler. I guess the “Council”–who definitely do not listen to “Counsel” feel if they break the remediation (?) Rebuilding into smaller parts people won’t notice that the total cost will be close to, if not over, a million dollars! It has no use–certainly not for the occupants of the greater part of Ridgewood as “You can’t get here from there”–high speed exit from RT 17N with an exit from the parking lot almost on top of it. W. Saddle River Road is extremely narrow, not even wide enough to be legally divided into 2 directions and when RT 17N is blocked by an accident further north–frequently- masses of cars exit from 17 onto it to escape the traffic jams and we residents can barely get onto it without extreme danger of being hit. That is a perfect thing to happen while cars with little kids are being dropped off at the driveway or their parents are trying to get out of the driveway.
