Falling Tree Branch Crushes Car in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, an adult couple from Rockland County, NY escaped injury when a large tree branch fell onto their Honda SUV late Tuesday afternoon, 07/18. The accident occurred in the 300 block of South Irving Street, Ridgewood. A tow truck removed the totaled SUV from the scene. Ridgewood Police responded to the incident.  No Injuries reported.

February 2 was Joyce Kilmer Day in Mahwah!

Mahwah NJ, of the many artists and writers who lived in Cragemere, poet Joyce Kilmer may be the most famous. Kilmer was born December 6, 1886, in New Brunswick, NJ. He moved to Cragmere in 1912, while working as a special reporter for the New York Times Magazine. A fellow commuter would recall that Kilmer was never dressed for work on time and was busy putting himself together on the school bus that dropped them off at the train station.

Village of Ridgewood New Tree Ordinance Goes Into Effect May 3rd

Fort Lee Hit With “Parkgate” as Mayor and Council Eye Historic Park for Parking lot and Turf Fields

Fort Lee NJ, recently, the residents of Fort Lee discovered by accident, that their passive park is at risk of being turned into a 100 car parking lot, a softball field, and a soccer field.  The park is home to thousands of trees that fight both air pollution, noise pollution, provide shade to walkers/runners and home to so much wildlife.  All of this planning has been done without any notice to any residents.

Genetically Engineered ‘Supertrees’ Capture More Carbon

Ridgewood NJ, Living Carbon is a San Francisco-based startup that is genetically engineering trees to capture and store more carbon. Its goal is to combat the effects of climate change without needing to take up land that could otherwise be used for agriculture. Fewer trees would need to be planted if they were able to absorb and retain more carbon.
