Comments made during the Tuesday, June 4th joint BOE/Village of Ridgewood Fields Committee Meeting by Scott Muller, President of the Ridgewood Baseball & Softball Association (RBSA), and Ed Seavers, an Association Trustee, clearly revealed that the RBSA doesn’t give a damn about anything to do with the Schedler property, or its neighbors, other than placement of a 90-foot baseball diamond/field at the site.

Will Ridgewood Parents Have to Sign a Wavier For Children to Play on Artificial Turf Fields

Ridgewood NJ, at the Ridgewood Board of Education meeting on May 20, due to concerns raised by residents, it was discussed whether parents whose children will be playing on artificial turf fields might be asked to sign a waiver. This would indicate that there are known health risks to playing on turf, and that the parents are aware and give consent to let their children play.  The superintendent was directed to call the Board attorney for an opinion on this matter.  Stay tuned.

Schedler Friends Issue a Call to Action

Ridgewood NJ, Schedler Friends issue a call to action on the introduction of a bond ordinance for work at the Schedler property and the resubmitted  SHPO application.

The Village of Ridgewood submitted a revised application to the State Historic Preservation Office regarding this project.  The revision includes an independent assessment conducted by Suburban Consulting Engineers, Inc. relative to fturf field use in the Village, which addresses comments made by the Historic Preservation Office in a letter dated March 22, 2024.

Clear-Cutting Catastrophe: Unveiling the Hidden Dangers of Deforestation

There has been much talk about “non-native” trees at Schedler, and this description is being used as justification for clear-cutting what is currently a beautiful woodsy area.  These trees, many of which are very tall and well-established, are producing oxygen, absorbing pollutants from the highway, reducing the amount of standing water, providing shelter for birds and animals, decreasing noise pollution for residents in the area, and are just living their lives.   The “non-native” excuse is just ridiculous – it is a sorry rationalization for a terrible plan.
