Ramsey NJ, Six (6) victims of a Monday morning, 12/17, crash on Route 17 northbound near Spring Avenue in Ramsey were transported to area hospitals by ambulances. Ramsey Police, Ramsey Rescue, and Ramsey EMS responded to the incident along with mutual aid ambulances from Upper Saddle River and The Valley Health System. Two (2) wrecked vehicles were removed from the scene by flatbed tow trucks. One (1) travel lane of Route 17 northbound and the exit ramp to Spring Street from Route 17 northbound were closed while emergency crews worked. All injuries were reported to have been non life threatening in nature.
I agree with the last comment. We also left several years ago, forced out by a job loss and increase in taxes. Lived through the Valley Expansion debacle and glad it was defeated. With all this development and that travesty of the parking garage Ridgewood will become another Montclair. It was hard to leave but with all that has happened in the past few years since our departure, I’m certain it was the right thing to do. And yes, that Town Garage has been an eyesore and issue of controversy for years. Make the speculators who bought it pay for clean up. It is not the responsibility of the tax payers but sadly it will probably end up as such

The Seal of Integrity validates the reliability of Valley’s data transparency program for having met scientifically rigorous standards for collecting and publicly reporting physician performance ratings and patient experience data.

Far Lawn NJ, A two (2) alarm residential structure fire in the 900 block of Bellair Avenue, Fair Lawn was quickly extinguished late Friday afternoon, 12/07. All Fair Lawn fire companies responded to the scene as did Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, Fair Lawn EMS, Fair Lawn Police, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital.
Waldwick NJ, Waldwick Fire department battled at 3-alarm structure fire at 96 Franklin Turnpike, Waldwick on Tuesday afternoon, 10/30. Mutual aid fire, police and EMS services responded from several neighboring communities to assist Waldwick Fire, Waldwick Police, and Waldwick EMS. One (1) firefighter was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with a non life threatening injury. Traffic on busy Franklin Turnpike in Waldwick was detoured while emergency crews worked at the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Health Department reminds you that influenza is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently. Even healthy people can get very sick from the flu and spread it to others. Over a period of 31 seasons between 1976 and 2007 the CDC states that in the United States range from a low of about 3,000 to a high of about 49,000 people. During recent flu seasons, between 80% and 90% of flu related deaths have occurred in people 65 years and older. “Flu season” in the United States can begin as early as October and last as late as May. During this time, flu viruses are circulating at higher levels in the U.S. population. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and spread it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through that community.
At least one of these vehicles hit a utility pole. This knocked out power to at least part of the surrounding neighborhood. Were they responding to the same call at speed, one on East Glen, one on North Van Dien? No wonder the two officers were transported to the hospital–the impact must have been tremendous. Ridgewood NJ, Valley’s plans to build a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Paramus received a significant boost, with two gifts totaling $35 million to The Valley Hospital Foundation. The gifts include $20 million from a long-time Valley supporter who wishes to remain anonymous, and $15 million from The Bolger Foundation, which was established by philanthropist David F. Bolger, another long-time Valley benefactor.
Ridgewood NJ, U.S. News & World Report has released its rankings of the best hospitals in America for 2018-19, evaluating more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide across 16 specialties and nine procedures and conditions. U.S. News also ranked the best hospitals in America by region.
Ridgewood NJ according to Beckers Hospital review ,Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey paid a consulting group $1.7 million to produce reports on how the health insurer could develop its OMNIA Health Plans, which place hospitals in two tiers based on quality and cost. Lower-ranked hospitals argue three reports from McKinsey & Co. obtained by NJ Advance Media show Horizon steered McKinsey’s research to include the state’s most expensive hospitals into Tier 1, according to NJ.com.

Becker’s Hospital Review previously reported 10 findings from McKinsey’s reports on June 28. Below are another five highlights from the analysis:
1. In Horizon’s first 2014 memo to McKinsey, the health insurer outlined OMNIA’s objectives: narrow down Tier 1 and 2 hospitals and lower the health insurer’s costs. Under OMNIA, if policyholders want the lowest out-of-pocket costs compared to other Horizon plans, they must visit one of the 36 hospitals in Tier 1 that agree to accept lower reimbursements from Horizon in exchange for more patients.
2. All major New Jersey health systems Horizon later designated as Tier 1 hospitals — Hackensack Meridian Health, Robert Wood Johnson University Health in New Brunswick, St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston and Atlantic Health System in Morristown — were absent from McKinsey’s initial top 14 hospitals, according to NJ.com’s analysis of the reports. The documents reveal Horizon CEO Kevin Conlin told McKinsey to downplay how much a hospital’s size and cost would affect which hospitals the firm chose for OMNIA’s Tier 1 partners. Horizon argued OMNIA’s value-based model meant “past financial performance is not necessarily indicative of future cost of care,” according to the report.
3. In addition, one of the reports from May 2014 highlights how OMNIA intended to steer patients away from hospitals in New York. McKinsey analyzed 2013 data to show how much Horizon paid physicians and hospitals in New York, and how much placing New York hospitals in Tier 2 would positively affect Tier 1 hospitals. For example, McKinsey projected Hackensack would see $25 million in profits “from volume in other hospital in service area,” as well as $8 million from other competitors like New York.
4. In a lawsuit, two Tier 2 hospitals — 451-bed Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J., and 284-bed CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, N.J. — claim Horizon “breached its duty to act in good faith” by placing them in OMNIA’s Tier 2, thereby costing them millions of dollars. Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck was also a plaintiff in the hospitals’ case until June 26, when it and Horizon announced they had reached a confidential settlement.

Ridgewood NJ, One (1) person was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital following a two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of Grove Street and South Pleasant Avenue, Ridgewood, late Thursday evening, 05/10. Both damaged vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood PD and EMS responded.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Fire Department, and EMS personnel responded to aid the adult male driver of a 4-door Nissan Maxima who was injured after crashing head on into a utility pole on Sunday afternoon, 05/06. The incident occurred in front of 33 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood. A Ridgewood EMS ambulance transported the victim to The Valley Hospital. The wreck was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
Ho Ho Kus NJ, Two (2) individuals were transported by ambulances to The Valley Hospital following a two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus early Friday afternoon, 04/13. Ho-Ho-Kus Police , EMS, and Fire Department personnel responded to aid the victims and attend to a crash related fluid spill. Both wrecks were taken away by a flatbed tow truck. Injuries appeared to have been non life threatening in nature.
