NJ State Police Urges Residents to Prepare for Upcoming Winter Storm

Ridgewood  NJ, The New Jersey State Police is urging New Jersey residents to prepare for a nor’easter that will affect the entire state. From late Sunday night through Tuesday morning, most of New Jersey will be under a Winter Storm Warning.
The storm is expected to create hazardous travel conditions statewide, so if you do not need to travel, please stay home to allow crews to safely treat our roadways. If you must travel, here are some safety tips to follow:

Power Outages Darken Willard School Area in Ridgewood on Christmas Day

Ridgewood NJ, according to Ridgewood Mayor Susan Knudsen PSEG is aware of the outages in Ridgewood and have dispatched all available crews in the field. PSEG has also mobilized additional PSEG crews from central NJ to assist in the area. Please email if you have any immediate concerns sknudsen@ridgewoodnj.net

The Ridgewood blog is hearing the power outages are mostly confined to the Willard school area . The ETA in the Willard area is either tomorrow morning or Sunday morning.

According to resident Tony Loving , “Exxon station on Maple Avenue at the Glen rock border with Ridgewood is open”  if you need gas for a generator .

Paramus NJ, on Thursday due to the winter storm Route 17 was completely closed at Ridgewood Ave due to downed wires. Paramus Police reported at 4:42 am at A&S drive . At 530am NJDOT reported Rt 17 northbound all lanes closed and detoured, Southbound 2 left lanes closed at Ridgewood Ave in Paramus due to downed wires. Follow detour or plan alternate route. Use caution. According to Paramus Police Traffic was detoured at A&S drive left onto on Winters to Ridgewood Ave west, back onto 17 north . 17 north was reopened around 930am .

Ridgewood NJ, A major winter storm is expected to hit New Jersey starting Wednesday December 16, 2020 with snowfall expected up to 18” in our region. Forecasts also expect strong winds (up to 60mph) along with freezing rain through Thursday AM. The combination of high winds and a large accumulation of snow may produce localized power outages, downed wires, downed trees and may cause issues with the snow removal process.
First and foremost, the Ridgewood Police Department wants to ensure that our community is safe, and prepares for this weather event by ensuring our residents prepare themselves and their families for the upcoming days.

NJ TRANSIT ANNOUNCES FULL, SYSTEMWIDE CROSS-HONORING MARCH 4TH AHEAD OF WINTER STORM

Ridgewood NJ, As another blast of winter is forecasted for the state later today into Monday morning, NJ TRANSIT anticipates regular weekend service for the remainder of the day Sunday and regular weekday service for Monday, March 4th on its rail, bus and light rail, as long as weather conditions permit safe operation.  Access link paratransit service will be operating with service adjustments due to the weather. Parts of New Jersey are forecasted to experience heavy snow and icy roadway conditions with rapid freezing of wet surfaces. The possibility of strong, gusty winds could impact the overhead wires on rail and light rail service.

Systemwide Cross-Honoring in Effect on March 4th:  To give customers additional travel options during the expected winter weather conditions, NJ TRANSIT will offer full systemwide cross-honoring for the entire service day on Monday, March 4, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—rail, light rail or bus—including private bus carriers.

Governor Murphy and the Murphy Administration Urge Residents to Prepare for Latest Winter Storm

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy and the Murphy Administration are asking New Jersey residents to prepare for a winter storm that will affect the area throughout the day and into tonight. Colonel Patrick Callahan and the New Jersey State Police have activated the State Emergency Operations Center to monitor the winter storm conditions expected to last through tonight.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) has been in contact with all 21 county emergency management offices, and members of the Emergency Response Bureau are working with their counties to address any storm-related needs. State emergency management partners have been notified and will continue to coordinate with NJOEM on any traffic and power concerns, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation and its contractors activated this morning with up to 2,500 plows and spreaders available to keep State highways clear and safe for motorists.
