Ridgewood NJ, At sunrise today, a group of Ridgewood High School Alumni Association (RHSAA) trustees, friends and family members as well as Superintendent Dr. Tom Gorman (RHS ’87), Bergen County Commissioner and former Mayor Ramon Hache (RHS ‘91) and recently named RHS Principal, Jeff Nyhuis, all came together to hang 436 maroon and white senior banners in honor of you, class of 2021! These RHS 2021 banners donning our new “R” were hung throughout our beautiful Village to highlight, to recognize and to celebrate each member of the RHS Class of 2021.

Bergen County SWAT and Elmwood Park Police Subdue Knife Wielding Man

Elmwood Park NJ, the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team was assembled to assist Elmwood Park Police subdue an adult male who had threatened two (2) Elmwood Park police officers with a knife after they attempted to enter his home for purposes of performing a requested welfare check on Saturday afternoon, 05/08. Following a hours long stand off, SWAT Team personnel stormed the man’s residence after deploying several tear gas canisters, and seized him without further incident. Elmwood Park Fire Department units were also at the scene, along with multiple BLS and ALS emergency medical service units. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office assisted Elmwood Park Police with traffic and crowd control.

Garden State Parkway Southbound Crash in Paramus , Multiple Injuries Reported

Paramus NJ, a two (2) vehicle, Saturday morning, 05/08, crash on the Garden State Parkway southbound at mile marker 164.4 in Paramus resulted in multiple injuries, requiring response by several ambulances and a paramedic team. NJ State Police, Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, and Paramus Fire Department were at the scene along with an BLS ambulance from New Bridge Medical Center, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital.

Ridgewood NJ, Social Security’s Top Baby Names for 2020 .Olivia and Liam are once again America’s most popular baby names in 2020. It appears parents chose to stick with the familiar during an unprecedented time, with the top three names for both girls – Olivia, Emma, and Ava – and boys – Liam, Noah, and Oliver – remaining the same for the second year in a row. In fact, out of both Top 10 lists combined, only two names changed, with the traditional names Henry and Alexander edging out Mason and Ethan. The name Henry has been steadily rising in popularity, last appearing in the Top 10 over a century ago, in 1910.

Happy Mother’s Day : Why the Founder of Mother’s Day Turned Against It

Beginning in the 1850s, Ann Reeves Jarvis of West Virginia started Mothers’ Day Work Clubs in order to teach women proper child-care techniques and sanitation methods. In the years following the Civil War, these same clubs became a unifying force for a country ripped apart by conflict. In 1868, Jarvis and other women organized a Mothers Friendship Day, when mothers gathered with former soldiers of both the Union and Confederacy to promote reconciliation. After Ann Reeves Jarvis died in 1905, it was her daughter Anna Jarvis who would work tirelessly to make Mother’s Day a national holiday.
