Ridgewood NJ, Congratulations to our RHS students who auditioned and were accepted to perform as a member of the 2024 NJ All-Bergen County Band! It’s the highest number of students selected from any one school to participate in the ensemble.
The All County Band will perform on Sunday, January 14th at 3PM, Bergenfield High School.

Ridgewood NJ, seltzer, coffee, snack bars, and chips are just a few of the items stored in small pantries and on snack carts in classrooms at Ridgewood Public Schools as students in the Special Programs classes organize their inventory. Part of a successful, long-time district program, the snack cart project continues to expand, with students in the 18-21, high school, middle, elementary, and even pre-kindergarten classes now running small snack cart businesses.

These students could exit school ill-equipped for both higher education and the professional realm, significantly heightening their susceptibility to unemployment, poverty, depression, and even premature mortality.

Paterson NJ, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division on Civil Rights (DCR) announced today that DCR has issued a Notice of Violation against an individual advertising his services on the gig economy website TaskRabbit, as well as on other platforms.  Melquisedec Francis, the advertiser, stated that he would not provide services to Jewish patrons in at least three online communications in violation of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.

Rutgers University Benefactors With Hold Support Over Over Antisemitism on Campus

New Brunswick, NJ, Marvin and Eva Schlanger are taking a stand by withholding their financial support from Rutgers University. Both proud Rutgers alumni, the couple, who contribute to various educational institutions through their Florida-based nonprofit, the Eva and Marvin Schlanger Family Foundation, has donated over $130,000 to Rutgers. However, they have decided to cease contributions due to what they perceive as the university’s inadequate response to antisemitism following the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Public Forum Lays Out Benefits of Electric School Buses

Trenton NJ, NJ Sierra Club, Environment New Jersey, NJ Clean Cities Coalition, Charge EVC, the Trenton YMCA and Isles hosted an educational lunch and learn on electric school buses. The educational luncheon provided the opportunity for districts and townships in New Jersey to learn how they can take advantage of state and federal funding from the IRA and IIJA through NJ’s Electric School Bus Program and the EPA’s Clean School Bus Program. The event provided information on key grant deadlines, as grants and rebates from these life-saving programs would directly allow local communities in New Jersey to get zero-emission school buses on our streets and in our neighborhoods.
