Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey native and former Saturday Night Live star Joe Piscopo came to the statehouse today for an afternoon sit-down with Governor Chris Christie.

The purpose it seems is that the radio show host, Piscopo is feeling out a run for governor next year.Piscopo has also been seen making the rounds most notably for Italian American Heritage Month .

Piscopo formerly a Democrat, now an independent and would run as a Republican. While ex-Goldman Sachs Phill Murphy has been out and about for the Democrats ,Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, a Republican from Somerset County, has already announced his candidacy; and LG Kim Guadagno is expected to kick off her campaign after the presidential election.

Since many insiders say the state’s finances are a joke , a comedian might just be what we need.

Doherty, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and former Army officer, said that protests popularized by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick are hypocritical and worthy of condemnation.

“Standing for our national anthem is a sign of respect for the millions of Americans who fought and died for all of us, including Mr. Kaepernick, to live in a free nation.

“For Mr. Kaepernick and other professional athletes to protest while reaping all of the benefits of those sacrifices, including multi-million dollar salaries and lavish lifestyles, reeks of hypocrisy at the highest level.”

Gottheimer Assault Allegation Court Record Surfaces

Josh Gottheimer

Ridgewood NJ,  Josh Gottheimer is covering up allegations about a court case where he was charged with aggressively intimidating and assaulting a woman. He’s repeatedly lied to reporters, saying, “there was no settlement.”

Oops.

Hate to burst your bubble, Josh, but we found the court records, and it shows you settled the case with your victim. We guess the Fifth District won’t like you very much when you get angry.

Josh Gottheimer has consistently lied throughout this campaign, and now, just like his mentor Hillary, he’s trying to use the press as a de facto extension of his campaign. We’re pretty sure the New Jersey press corps is too smart for that. Below is definitive proof of the existence of a settlement between Josh and his assault victim on March 14, 2008. Attached is the entire court record.

Josh Gottheimer has dismissed his assault of this woman as “frivolous.” If that’s the case, why won’t he just release the settlement?

Oh, that’s right, because it shows he attacked and intimidated a woman and then settled with her out of court to avoid having to admit his actions in open court.

Josh Gottheimer claims to stand for women, but as is so often the case with Clinton cronies, it’s clear that his actions don’t match his words.

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, On Tuesday, November 1st, just two weeks from today, every fill-up at the gas pump will cost drivers and commuters 23 cents/gallon more in gas taxes.

A family with two cars will pay about $300 more per year. Commuters with long drives may pay hundreds more.

I announced yesterday that I’m joining with Senator Kip Bateman to sponsor a bill to repeal this unaffordable gas tax increase.

We’re introducing the legislation, but we can’t repeal the gas tax by ourselves. We’ll need your help. Will you join the repeal effort too?

If you want to help stop this tax increase, please take a few seconds to sign our repeal petition:

Every person who signs and shares helps to build the momentum we’ll need for the repeal effort to succeed.

Will NJ soon be under drought warning?

tapwater-1

Kala Kachmar , @NewsQuip2:54 p.m. EDT October 19, 2016

The state is holding a public hearing on Thursday to determine whether a drought warning will be issued for 12 New Jersey counties.

Minimal rainfall, below-normal storage in water supply reservoirs, depleted stream flow and low groundwater levels are all contributing to the drought situation, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Issuing a warning gives the DEP the authority to manage water resources to avoid a shortage.

All but three — Cape May, Atlantic and Cumberland counties — are under a drought watch. Counties that could soon be under a warning: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset and Union.

6 reasons the dark days of N.J.’s old DMV hell may have returned

MVC

By Larry Higgs | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
on October 19, 2016 at 9:00 AM, updated October 19, 2016 at 11:13 AM

As little as three years ago, an NJ.com story declared the “bad old days of the DMV” — long lines, rude employees and a bureaucracy from hell, were a thing of the past.

In 2002, then Gov. James E. McGreevey convened the “Fix DMV” commission, which delivered a report about how to deal with the Division of Motor Vehicles chronic problems of lines, long waits and inefficiencies. The Nov. 2002 report led to the creation of the current Motor Vehicle Commission.

Under the MVC, wait times and lines had gotten shorter. Even beleaguered Jersey drivers stuck up for the agency, saying that it was better than it used to be.

Ridgewood NJ,  Josh Gottheimer is covering up allegations about a court case where he was charged with aggressively intimidating and assaulting a woman. His campaign spin machine is intentionally misleading the press using carefully parsed phrases to obscure the truth.

  • How much does Josh Gottheimer believe the safety and security of women is worth?
  • How much did he pay this woman to forget his assault on her?

Josh Gottheimer has dismissed his assault of this woman as “frivolous.” If that’s the case, why won’t he just release the settlement? Instead, his campaign is simply using political spin to obfuscate reality.

Media Pile-On Tries to Discredit, Unseat NJ Republican by Smearing Oath Keepers as Terrorists

Oath Keepers

Media Pile-On Tries to Discredit, Unseat NJ Republican by Smearing Oath Keepers as The Democrats and their media amplifiers get their cover from a New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness “analysis,” claiming: The militia movement is decentralized, but it has two large followings—the Oath Keepers and the Three Percenters. Both have members who justify the use of violence to counter perceived threats or violations to the US Constitution.

Media Pile-On Tries to Discredit, Unseat NJ Republican by Smearing Oath Keepers as Terrorists

“The truth?” a political attack ad for Democrat New Jersey Congressional challenger  and former Bill Clinton speechwriter Josh Gottheimer against incumbent Republican Scott Garrett asks. “Newspapers just caught Garrett at a fund-raiser with the leader of a home-grown terrorist militia group.”

A Clinton-backer promising truth should be all the red flags we need.

The “terrorist militia group”?  That would be Oath Keepers, assuming you can believe those newspapers, which appear to be doing everything they can to sway the electorate into accepting a political narrative that folds under minimal scrutiny. Witness recent headlines:

“Republican Chairman of Wall Street Committee Held Fundraiser with Official from ‘Domestic Terrorist’ Group,” Joshua Green of Bloomberg Business Week “reports.” (Yes, that Bloomberg.)

“Garrett event promoter tied to extremists,” NorthJersey.com weighs in. “Forget Wall Street banksters. Scott Garrett has new friends, on a terror list,” NJ.com echoes and embellishes.

Sensing political opportunity and more headlines, Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg has called on Gov. Chris Christie to “denounce Garrett for his ties to the domestic terror organization” and on New Jersey’s attorney general to investigate if “Garrett violated New Jersey law, adding “In the wake of homegrown terror attacks – like the ones in Elizabeth, New York, and Seaside Park – the citizens of New Jersey deserve to know the full extent of Congressman Garrett’s connections to this terrorist organization.”

Yes, that’s Loretta Weinberg of “Confiscate, confiscate, confiscate” notoriety.

As an aside, it’s curious that Weinberg was referring to Islamist “domestic terror” acts with the principle suspect being one of those “refugees” Democrats are bound and determined to seed and embed throughout the Republic. Any connection to Oath Keepers was left (purposely) unstated, because there is none, and because the agenda here is to destroy them.

Which makes it fair to ask what the Democrat politicians and their “news media” publicists are talking about, and what else they’ve gotten wrong in their ceaseless, agenda-driven mission to conflate, smear, misinform and confuse. The answer is pretty much everything.

Gottheimer spin machine is intentionally misleading the press using carefully parsed phrases to obscure the truth

Ridgewood NJ,  Josh Gottheimer is covering up allegations about a court case where he was charged with aggressively intimidating and assaulting a woman. His campaign spin machine is intentionally misleading the press using carefully parsed phrases to obscure the truth.

But the legal documents tell the truth: Gottheimer says the lawsuit was simply dismissed but he conveniently leaves out the fact that it was settled out of court and he refuses to say how much money the victim was paid and what else was offered to her in return for ending the lawsuit.

Josh’s campaign is calling his victim a liar by dismissing her experience as frivolous. How can Gottheimer call charges of assault and discrimination “frivolous”?

Josh can’t hide the truth forever, and we’ve got a few follow-up questions for Josh to answer. If there’s no real scandal, Josh shouldn’t have an issue providing the voters of the Fifth District with answers to the following questions:

  • Why won’t Josh produce the settlement documents to show what really happened? What is he hiding?
  • How much money was the plaintiff paid to drop the lawsuit?
  • What other non-monetary settlement was reached?
  • Was the plaintiff threatened or harassed to settle?
  • Was the plaintiff offered political favors to drop the lawsuit?
  • If nothing happened why didn’t Josh take case to court rather than pay the plaintiff off?

Josh Gottheimer claims to stand for women, but as is so often the case with Clinton cronies, it’s clear that his actions don’t match his words.

Rep.Scott Garrett : The CFPB has oversized influence on the U.S. economy because it alone decides which financial products you are allowed to buy

Ridgewood NJ, after a federal appeals court delivered a strong rebuke to the government’s new “consumer-finance watchdog”, declaring the agency’s unusual independence to be unconstitutional, and ordering its powers be curbed. Rep. Scott Garrett gave us his take on Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) . In an email Garret spelled out the issues:

“This week, a federal court found that one of the most secretive Washington bureaucracies violates the constitutionally-mandated system of checks and balances designed to protect Americans from abuses of government authority. The court decided that the structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is unconstitutional because of its toxic combination of immense power and little accountability. As Chairman of the Financial Services subcommittee that is responsible for making sure our country has competitive and robust capital markets, I have worked with my colleagues on solutions to restructure the CFPB in a way that protects consumers while holding Washington accountable to We the People.
The CFPB has oversized influence on the U.S. economy because it alone decides which financial products you are allowed to buy. Everything from mortgages, to car loans, to retirement savings, the CFPB’s current structure allows it to unilaterally infringe on the economic choices of every American.

With a single, politically appointed head and its ability to bypass Congress to get funding, the CFPB acts as a rogue federal bureaucracy.  And while the CFPB has an important mission, it’s unacceptable to allow a single government agency to control how Americans can spend their own money.

In fact, in his decision on this case, Judge Brett Kavanaugh said, “Other than the President, the Director of the CFPB is the single most powerful official in the entire United States Government, at least when measured in terms of unilateral power.” As someone who has been an outspoken critic of this agency’s unchecked power, I completely agree.

To implement consumer protections that actually put people and families first, a complete re-organization of this bureaucracy is needed. I recently supported the Financial CHOICE Act, a bill that would transform the CFPB into a bipartisan, five-member commission which is subject to Congressional oversight and appropriations, just like other independent Washington agencies. This is the only way to ensure that Washington will actually do its job instead of acting in its own self-interest.

This ruling that the CFPB’s structure is unconstitutional is a win for transparency, and for the checks and balances that protect American families from abuses by overzealous government bureaucrats.  While stories like this don’t always make front page news, I feel it’s my responsibility to pass along information about my work and my priorities in Congress to the people of New Jersey’s Fifth District.”

Oooops …Man accused on social media of killing Pedals didn’t do it, state confirms

Since he was accused all over social media of being the hunter who shot and killed Pedals the bipedal bear, Thomas McCreary said people have threatened to kill him and his family, rape his wife and sister, burn his home and business, even come to the business to “shoot it out” with him.

The state Department of Environmental Protection’s Bob Considine confirmed Monday that McCreary was not the person who turned a bear in that appears to be Pedals, which became an internet sensation last year through a number of videos on social media.

That bear was brought to Green Pond station in Rockaway on Oct. 10 during last week’s extended bear hunt. Although the DEP said there’s no way to verify if the bear is Pedals, the agency said is appeared to be the same bear.

McCreary said on Monday he did not kill the bear, nor did he take part in this year’s extended hunt. McCreary showed NJ Advance Media his 2016 Zone 4 black bear hunting permit. If he had turned a bear in at a check-in station, the “Black Bear Transportation Tag” would have been removed from the permit, he said.

N.J. took $1.4B from your phone bill for new 911 system but never delivered

In the fall of 2013, shoppers at the Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus fled in terror as a man with a rifle stalked the halls. Police officers, going through each store one by one, rescued dozens of people with no injuries.

But what if those in the mall could have given police an eye into the madness? What if they could have sent cell phone photos and videos, revealing their location and helping track the gunman’s whereabouts?

That life-saving technology exists. And for more than a decade, every person in New Jersey with a phone has paid a tax on their monthly bill to make it happen, handing over a whopping $1.37 billion to Trenton.
