One or both of the smoldering wires also fell onto active NJ Transit railroad tracks, reportedly damaging some critical signaling equipment, which in turn caused train cancellations and extensive delays on NJ Transit’s Bergen & Main Lines. Local power outages were also reported; most notably traffic control devices at several major intersections in Ridgewood were darkened until portable generators were put into place at each of them. The good news was that police received no reports of storm related injuries or significant property damage.
