West Long Branch NJ, the public’s views of New Jersey’s quality of life and rating of the state as a good place to live are toward the higher end of their historical range. However, the number of residents who want to leave the state is at a high point, according to the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll.  The desire to exit New Jersey is showing a marked partisan gap, with more Republicans wanting to leave, that was not evident in prior years. Regardless, the state’s property tax burden remains the top reason people cite for their intention to get out of New Jersey, as it has been in the past.

May 4th, Bag Ban : Many local grocery store have already run out of plastic and paper bags !

Ridgewood NJ, Effective May 4, 2022, there will be a ban on plastic and paper bags at all grocery stores. Styrofoam clamshells, usually given out by restaurants and eateries, will also be banned.  This is a NJ State Law, so please remember to bring your own reusable bags to grocery stores. Many local grocery store have already run out of plastic and paper bags !

Ridgewood Police Department : 12 Motor Vehicles Stolen from our Village this Year, all with the Key Fob left in the Vehicle

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Police Department as of Tuesday there have been a total of 12 motor vehicles stolen from our village this year. This number does not include the numerous attempts that have been thwarted by our department, citizens, or unsuccessful because the vehicle was locked. In ALL cases, the vehicles have had or are believed to have had a key fob left in the vehicle. In some cases, the vehicle was running but not occupied.

Neighbors Forced to Clean Up Village of Ridgewood Property

Ridgewood NJ,  looks like someone failed to clean up .a small swatch a land near the Ridgewood Train Station in the Central Business District . After the Village failed to respond to numerous complaints from neighbors a near by building super took it on himself to clean up Village property  removing brush and fixing the lawn .

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Mobile Shredding Event for Confidential Documents – April 30, 2022 – 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. or until the truck is full – Graydon Pool Parking Lot, 200 Northern Parkway – This event will be held rain or shine.  The limit is 4 boxes or paper bags of papers per vehicle, and no plastic bags are allowed. Please place your documents in the trunk of your vehicle, and arrive earlier in the day, because the truck usually fills up prior to the 12:30 end time.

Ridgewood NJ, 11th Anniversary of the Ridgewood Guild’s International Film Festival – April 27th and 28th, 2022 – Bow Ties Cinemas (Warner Theater) – 190 East Ridgewood Avenue  This annual event provides film entertainment that covers a wide variety of genres, and it gives independent film artists a platform for sharing their work with audiences that might not otherwise have the opportunity to see them. The films are eligible for jury awards in various categories. Each year, a $500 scholarship is awarded to the Best High School Student and Undergraduate College Student Filmmaker.

Ridgewood NJ, Dogs must be on a leash, no longer than six feet in length, in the following Village parks: Citizens Park, Twinney Pond Park, Memorial Park at Van Neste Square, Leuning Park, Kings Pond Park, Veterans Memorial Park walking or jogging path, Irene Habernickel Family Park paved walking or jogging paths and on the trails, Schedler Property, Dunham Trail (open space area from Grove Street to Spring Avenue), Grove Park, Gypsy Pond Park (south of the Lakeview Compost Facility) and North Road Park.

It’s Just Not the Same Old Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, old timers will remember the Ridgewood used to be a town so clean you could virtually eat off the side walk , but that was a long time ago .  Just days after Earth Day the Village if a mess .

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet.

Maybe it’s time to focus on cleaning up our own backyard ?
