Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police Department despite the COVID-19 Crisis and stay at home orders, North Jersey communities continue to be plagued by vehicle thefts. In each and every case the keys or key fobs have been left in the unlocked vehicles or immediately accessible. During the month of May, a total of four vehicles have been stolen in Glen Rock under these circumstances. The most recent of which was reported on May 13th, taken from a resident’s driveway overnight. Two of the vehicles stolen over the last month belonged to the Glen Rock DPW. The other belonged to a resident and was parked in front of their home. In the past these types of thefts have happened in neighborhoods all over Glen Rock.

Hackensack NJ, The following is an official update on Saturday’s 4 alarm fire at 227 Main Street. The building is a total loss, one firefighter received minor injuries was treated and released. The fire is currently being investigated by Hackensack Fire Prevention and members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office arson squad. With a large loss fire Bergen County prosecutor’s office does assist local investigators. There is still NO cause of the fire, the investigation will continue. Hackensack Fire Department would like to thank all the mutual Aid departments that assisted at the scene and covered the city. Thoughts to those who lost their businesses yesterday.

TRENTON NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 146, which allows charter fishing services and for-hire vessel activities, as well as watercraft rental businesses, to open with required social distancing measures. These businesses can open on Sunday, May 17 at 6 am.

TRENTON NJ, Nearly 70,000 new unemployment claims were filed in New Jersey last week, as the Labor Department processed another 262,000 weeks worth of federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), and saw total pandemic-related payments rise to $2.7 billion.
The number of initial claims filed since mid-March approached 1.1 million, with more than 725,000 actively collecting state and federal PUA benefits. Data shows workers in casinos, retail, food service, restaurants and airlines hit the hardest by the pandemic.

Paramus NJ, in perhaps what some would call a day late and a dollar short, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has announced that the County of Bergen/Bergen New Bridge Medical Center community mobile testing program will offer additional testing locations to reach more residents across Bergen County. In the first week of community mobile testing, over 2,000 residents were tested in Englewood, Hackensack, Fairview, and Garfield.

Ridgewood NJ, Garbage pickup will remain curbside, until further notice, to allow for crews to be able to pick up all garbage according to the existing schedule, because the volume of garbage picked up has almost doubled. Please remember to bring your garbage to the curb in your garbage can, so that animals do not get into it before it is picked up and for the protection of our Village employees.

Ridgewood NJ, An email has been sent out by the Health Department for all present dog owners to renew their dog licenses. Since rabies vaccines for pets are essential in providing a barrier of protection between pets and people in the community, we encourage the vaccination of pets. In addition, the NJ Statute states that dog licenses shall expire no later than June 30th in the current licensing year. We have not received notice that this has been extended through current legislation, due to the pandemic.
