Ridgewood NJ, The Governor has issued an Executive Order to allow non-essential businesses to open with orders on-line or by phone, and then curbside pickup, beginning May 18, 2020.  There will be 2-4 parking spaces set aside for curbside pickup, at the top and bottom of each block or mid-block where there are long blocks, where retail stores are located.  The signs are marked as “Parking for business curbside pickup only, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Mon. through Sat.”

Elective Surgeries and Invasive Procedures to Resume on May 26th

Ridgewood NJ,  Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 145, allowing elective surgeries and invasive procedures, both medical and dental, to resume on Tuesday, May 26 at 5:00 a.m. These procedures will resume according to policies that will be issued by the New Jersey Department of Health and the Division of Consumer Affairs by Monday, May 18. This order rescinds the suspension of all elective surgeries and invasive procedures performed on adults, which was instituted beginning on March 27 under Executive Order No. 109 to preserve essential equipment and health care system capacity to respond to COVID-19.

Downed Tree Takes Causes Power and Communication Service Outages in Old Country Club Neighborhood of Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, A downed tree resulted in damage to at least two (2) utility poles and caused electric and communications services outages to many single family homes located in the Old Country Club neighborhood of Ridgewood on Friday evening, 05/15. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services responded to block streets and monitor fallen live electric wires until PSE&G crews were able cut power and restore primary & secondary electric service. Property damage was minimal, with the most serious being a tree limb that damaged a fence before landing in an in-ground swimming pool. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Franklin Lakes NJ, from the Franklin Lakes Police Department ,recently the Police Department has received two reports of fraud where the perpetrator telephoned a resident and reported an emergency involving a family member. Both become victims that were scammed out of several thousand dollars.

14 Lakes & Ponds / 17 Rivers To Be Stocked

Ridgewood NJ, Beginning Monday, May 18, trucks will again roll out from the Pequest Hatchery to stock the remaining 50,000 11-inch Rainbow Trout in 31 waters throughout the state. Stocking will conclude on Thursday, May 21. There are no in-season closures and no need to wait until 5:00 p.m. on these waters.

Shared Chalk in the Middle of a Pandemic?

Ridgewood NJ, is it just us or does this make no sense .Just eyeballed this in front of the park at Van Neste.  Nice idea but, we are in the middle of a pandemic, and we are encouraging people to stick their hands into a washtub full of shared chalk sticks? You just could not make something like this up.

Village of Ridgewood Zabriskie-Schedler House Restoration Moving Along

Ridgewood NJ, May is dedicated to National Preservation Month. Also known as Historic Preservation Month, the month celebrates the nation’s heritage through historic places. Organizations across the country promote a variety of activities on the local, state and national levels.

In the Village, Zabriskie-Schedler House  restoration is finally moving along .  We must admit we had our doubts . The home has officially been added to the New Jersey Register of Historic Places. Built in 1823 by John A. L. Zabriskie, the house sits on a triangle of land between Route 17 and Saddle River Road, part of Bergen County’s dwindling stock of 19th-century Dutch wood-frame homes.  This area play a significant roll as a cross roads during  the American Revolution .

Multi-State Agreement on Beaches Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend !

Ridgewood NJ,Acting on a commitment to coordinate regional policies in response to COVID-19, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, and Delaware Governor John Carney today announced a multi-state agreement to reopen public and private beaches with certain restrictions in place effective, Friday, May 22. This approach will better align the states’ policies ahead of the summer months.

Judge Grants Order Enforcing Litigant’s Rights Against Ridgewood Board of Education
