Ridgewood Public School Fields Both Turf and Grass are Closed until Further Notice

Ridgewood NJ , according to the  Ridgewood Public School district all fields both turf and grass are closed until further notice . That includes this weekend and beyond if needed . Teams will be notified of alternative arrangements.

Water Main Break in Paramus Causes Flooding on Route 4

Paramus NJ, construction crews working near an exit ramp off of Route 4 westbound in Paramus on Thursday morning, 08/17, accidentally struck and punctured an unmarked 16 inch water main, which sent water cascading onto Route 4. No injuries were reported in the mishap, but traffic was slowed on Route 4 while crews dealt with the dilemma.

Edgewater NJ, two teenagers were rescued in New Jersey after flash flooding swept through Bergen County and the two became trapped inside an abandoned rail tunnel that became flooded.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Boyd Loving caught some pics of blockage in Ho-Ho-Kus Brook near Spring Avenue that may be contributing to flooding at Ridgewood High School.  Before we blame every thing on “Climate Change”, in New Jersey, the responsibility of cleaning debris from clogged waterways can vary depending on the location and type of waterway. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, “the property owner of the land under the river or stream is responsible for debris removal after a storm event.

Twp. of Washington Conducts Drone Flyover Along Musquapsink Brook

Twp of Washington NJ, as part of the town’s continuing efforts to address storm-water issues, starting Friday, December 2, 2022 Boswell Engineering will be starting to collect data using a flying drone along the southern limit of the Musquapsink Brook. The drone flights will start near Sherry Field and work up towards Ridgewood Rd. starting at approximately 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

NJDEP Blue Acres Program Adverse Impact on the Tax base of Local Municipalities

Westwood NJ, the Mayor of Westwood Ray Arroyo spoke at length in a Facebook post on the impact of the NJDEP Blue Acres Program on the tax base of the municipality .
The NJDEP Blue Acres Program (within the Green Acres Program) purchases improved residential lots in flood prone areas in cooperation with FEMA and once acquired, removes the structures and improvements from the floodplain.   The project area for surveys may include lands that have already closed or are under contract pending closing.

The Ridgewood High School Stadium field Has Reopened

Ridgewood NJ, at Monday ‘s Ridgewood Board of Education meeting Dr. Gorman thanked the maintenance and grounds crews who facilitated getting the fields back in shape. The Ridgewood High School stadium field was reopened on Sunday following the completion of the most recent cleanup, and Stevens field is expected to be operational by the end of this week.

Ridgewood NJ, heavy rain fell over North Jersey on Thursday night, leading to flooding and water rescues as high water levels still trouble the region. Ridgewood experienced the usual issues along the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook . Both the Ridgewood High School field and Veterans Field along with the Ridgewood Municipal complex flooded . No word on damages yet and no injuries reported .
