Reader asks So why doesn’t the council do a true economic evaluation (and read the Green Acres law) and give the residents a true perspective?

Green Acres theridgewoodblog.net

Isn’t it time to say “yes some people LOVE Health Barn” but how much is it costing the Village of Ridgewood? As has been pointed out, their activities spread over much of the property rent free while preventing residents from having access to “Their park”. They take many more than their assigned parking spots, for free. They even serve alcohol on Village property! Has anyone checked into the insurance they need? Or is she “self insured” by Ridgewood? A drinker gets into an accident? Ridgewood has the deep pockets and it is OUR property on which the drinking occurred. I’m willing to bet that she has not told her insurance company that she allows alcohol to be served there. She certainly doesn’t want her basic policy (if she has one) to be raised to cover that. Why should she? So far Ridgewood has provided immediate free response to all her requests. Susan, as much as you love them, you have said their costs to the village should be counted in. So why doesn’t the council do a true economic evaluation (and read the Green Acres law) and give the residents a true perspective? So far the only “Green” in this whole boondoggle seems to be her bank account! Ridgewood, instead, apparently is happy to allow her freedom, at no additional cost, to do anything she wants. That leads to red ink for us. You can’t keep avoiding reality. Villagers will not shut up until some honest answers are presented by the Council. We’ve been asking for several years; how long are you going to continue to not acknowledge we have a problem? And if you claim there is no problem, please give us honest answers that prove it!

Reader feels Healthbarn misrepresented itself back in 2015 about the activities it was actually offering

Habernickel HealthBarn USA protest

Seems this business is ruffling a lot of feathers. Maybe if questions were answered there would not be such negativity.

If the business did not misrepresent itself back in 2015 and was transparent about the activities it was actually offering the village may have all said NOWAY! But because of the BS that was fed to everyone it seems like the ones in the know are wrong

If the business had nothing to hide or worry about it would not need losers like Jeff and Roberta to advocate for it

The whole thing is a sham just like Jeff and his buddies and his lies to friends and neighbors to get office

Reader raises more questions on HealthBarn lease

Healthbarn USA ridgewood

file photo by Boyd Loving

What needs to be explored is #1 what does this business do for Ridgewood besides pay a below market rent?

What benefits are there for Ridgewood to place a business in a park? To have changed the use of a home and whole residential area?

Why are certain folk supporting this to the extreme of embarrassing themselves?

And most importantly how much is this business costing the town of Ridgewood to be here?

And lastly if the business was down the street in waldwick would Ridgewood lose out on anything besides the under market rent?

Any class she does for the town or Ridgewood she gets paid,so why do we tax payers have to give up a park and a rental property?

Ridgewood Councilmen Voigt At It Again !

Jeff Voigt Ridgewood Council

January 4,2017

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Resident Jacqueline Hone explains why she thinks Jeff Voigt’ s letter/behavior is “appalling.”

Letter: In support of HealthBarn https://www.northjersey.com/story/opinion/readers/2018/01/02/letter-support-healthbarn/997445001/

A resident, trusting in our local government, came forward to state his concerns and file a complaint about a Village matter. Along with his complaint, he provided pertinent information substantiating his claim (some of which is above).

Councilman Voigt published a statement, in the local newspaper and social media, smearing the resident, attacking his character and the complaint.

It is the Council’s fiduciary obligation to investigate citizen’s complaints, without bias, and provide a determination to the complaining resident. It is not their job to publicly slander residents, spread malicious gossip or tarnish a resident’s reputation in order to endorse one side.

Healthbarn advocate or not, a resident has the right to complain and question the Village on process, without fear of reprisal. Shame on Voigt for this attack and for misleading residents to believe the complaint was against Healthbarn. Residents are questioning the Village not the business. The deflecting has to stop.

Reader says don’t forget the hostile tenant is a friend of former manager Roberta and classmate

Habernickel Park Gate House

There is a claus I believe #7 in the lease where the Village can terminate. Why they have not done this is beyond reason. NO answers. The tenant is hostile and has filed reports against neighbors so maybe they are doing their HW before setting her off into a suit against the village as she has threatened!

Rumor of her suing her old tenant is being looked into to.

Great person to rent to!

Aside from that the lease is vague and was written under the supervision of the old council in favor of the tenant not the town!! The 3 amigos and Roberta had an agenda to get this business in this space…don’t forget the hostile tenant is a friend of former manager Roberta and classmate

There is also an appendix to the lease so you really have to dig to get all the facts and “gifts” that were given to this business it was not written with the tax payers or residents of Ridgewood in mind at all!

Again a mis use of tax dollars and should be terminated immediately but has not…I believe because of the threat of a law suit.

Sad situation for those neighbors!!

Maple parking lot has no lights for practices yet Habernickle parking lot has stadium lights for a field that closes at dark?

Habernickel Park Gate House

September 19,2017

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Can someone please answer why Maple parking lot has no lights for practices that get out after dark?  It is very dangerous picking up and dropping off kids in the pitch black.  Why does Habernickle parking lot  have stadium lights for a field that closes at dark?  Is it because the Village allowed a for profit business to open in the park?  If that is the reason it’s very upsetting to think the Village is more concerned about the welfare of Healthbarn’s customers then it is for it’s own tax paying children.

Healthbarn seems to be getting a lot of perks handed to it.  Very time I have been in that park I see Parks & Rec trucks working by or on the property surrounding the gate house and garbage and recycling collection too, dose Healthbarn pay for the added services?  I saw that her rent is only $3,700.00 a month for the length of the entire lease, plus she gets her garden included in that price that seems like a deal a lot of people would want.

Let’s put the tax payers first not some business run by a non resident.  Supporting Healthtbarn is only taking profits away from the Village programs run by Parks and Rec.

the Fly has learned the Village of Ridgewood can’t get rid of Healthbarn even though there is an out clause in the lease

fly-on-wall_theridgewoodblog
Interesting. ….. They claim they can’t get rid of healthbarn even though there is an out clause in the lease but they can  do this to a successful Business owned by a Ridgewood tax payer!!!

Reader asks why No Passive Park Space in Ridgewood ?

Habernickel Family Park

I have driven by there many times and have seen even the passive field being used for sports. Why can’t there ever be a place that is passive around here. I feel for those folks who live there. Soccer, baseball, lacrosse on the passive side all the while a for profit business with camps, fueled trips and busses!!! I had to pass a chartered bus once parked hillcrest rd!! These folks don’t get a break. Why can’t there be a place for us seniors or childless people to sit in a park and relax. I thought passive meant passive. Especially when there are sport fields 100 feet away. Wake up Ridgewood. That’s why us seniors are moving away!!!!

The Water Department Should be Moved to the Gatehouse at Habernickle Park

RidgewoodWaterLogo_061912_rn_tif_

July 18,2017

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, What is most troubling to people is the amount of money that is being spent on the buying of the Elks to house the water dept.  Why wouldn’t the village move the dept. to the Gatehouse at Habernickle Park? The village already owns the gatehouse and since we as taxpayers just spend $20,000 for new steps and handicap ramp why not use it to better our own village departments?

Instead we rent it to a business for $3,700 a month plus included in that rent is free garbage pick up, 12 parking spots, a plot of land for a garden (which would cost a resident $10,00 a year in taxes) free advertising on village parks and rec site, video cameras that feed to police and village hall, parks and rec continually at her beck and call and police needed to monitor the park for Healthbarn.  All of which is added costs and taking away village employees to monitor a help a business that doesn’t not benefit the residents at all.  Having it at a park only adds more cars to this area and makes it harder or spots team to park for events.

This is a FOR PROFIT business which is only taking business from our own programs offered through Parks and Rec.  Why does the village continue to advertise for Healthbarn on the the village site?  The Village offers most of the same programs as Healthbarn so it’s only hurting Parks and rec bottom line ultimately effecting the tax payers of Ridgewood.  It’s crazy to think the Village is that stupid to allow tax dollars to be spent so carelessly on a business that doesn’t share it’s profits with the village.

So why is the Village when it’s said and done going to be spending upwards of $3MILLION dollars to move the water dept to the old VFW?  It would be cheaper to remove Healthbarn and have the Water dept or another village sponsored program use the Gatehouse.  Let’s try to save tax dollars and not continue to burden the residents by raising the taxes for things like this.

Readers allege Healthbarn threatening to take legal action against Ridgewood and residents!

Habernickel Park Gate House

“Spot on about Healthbarn. Now at last nights meeting the owner oddly lawyers up and threatened to take legal action against the town and residents! From my understanding it is the noise, buses and lights that this business brought into the neighborhood that people are upset about but yet now there is an underlying threat of a law suit. The new valley hospital!”

“Yes I saw the law suit underlying threat and the friend of Healthbarn who claimed to be so educated on town events should be embarrassed to have spoken out on the behalf of a business that may sue the town.”

“Healthbarn business in a neighborhood park. This was done by the village manager for a friend. That contract has to be re visited quickly. How it even happened is astounding. Healthcare is making money off of tax payers dollars. We tax payers are financially supporting this business that operates in our park.”

Green Acres is Funding a Business in Ridgewood’s Irene Habernickel Family Park?

Habernickel HealthBarn USA protest

Ridgewood NJ, Green Acres Mission:To achieve, in partnership with others, a system of interconnected open spaces, whose protection will preserve and enhance New Jersey’s natural environment and its historic, scenic, and recreational resources for public use and enjoyment. The Green Acres Program was created in 1961 to meet New Jersey’s growing recreation and conservation needs. Together withpublic and private partners, Green Acres has protected over half a million acres of open space and provided hundreds of outdoor recreational facilities in communities around the State.

It is actually a green acres property where in the by laws it states “no for profit ” business in the park. It is not a junk park it is becoming one because of the business placed there. It is actually a beautiful park that half of it is used for town sports and the smaller parcel is actually used by many many people to take a nice passive walk without constantly being around children and noise. Why can’t the seniors in town have some place to go that is quiet? And of course neighbors are upset with a business being there especially when it does not benefit Ridgewood in any way!!

But according to northjersey.com it was approved by Green Acres.

“The village then consulted with a real estate professional to get a recommended baseline bid, posted multiple real estate listings and held open houses to find a new tenant. Before moving forward with a new lease, the village received approval from Green Acres since the land was purchased using grant money.”

So I guess the real question is ,is Green Acres just a scam?

Can it be that Police and Village Manager (our code enforcers) don’t know the law or are they catering to Healthbarn?

Ridgewood NJ, Watch this short clip. Yelling at a resident, Sergeant Chuck says no dogs allowed at Habernickel park, any park. Roberta says, “it’s illegal!”
HealthBarn announces they are dog friendly and the LAW is thrown out to accommodate Stacey and her dog watering station.
Then HealthBarn lures/invites dogs, dog bites kid, the law is back again.
Can it be that the Police and Roberta (our code enforcers) don’t know the law or are they catering to Healthbarn? Either way it’s reckless and negligent.

Reader asks I heard there was a big dog bite at HealthBarn last week?

Habernickel HealthBarn USA protest

file photo by Boyd Loving

I heard there was a big dog bite at HealthBarn last week? Can anyone confirm? I heard it was just under the eyes ON the face and it was BAD?

Yes if someone can confirm that would be great. It is not shocking that it happened since habernickel park is now filled with healthbarn private clients. By this I mean children paying healthbarn directly. Not Ridgewood. Yet Roberta calls it a partnership. Yet it is just a tenant/ landlord relationship. No reports of profits from healthbarns business coming to Ridgewood parks and rec. I hope because of her ” so called ” partnership Stacy doesn’t advise her client to sue Ridgewood too!

Neighbors accuse Healthbarn of violating their lease and changing the concept of Ridgewood ‘s Habernickel park

Healthbarn USA ridgewood

August 6,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Neighbors accuse Healthbarn of violating their lease and changing the concept of Habernickel park for this businesses benefit.

Healthbarn neighbors continue to to voice concerns that Healthbarn has a max of 95 private clients plus their employees. This means an excess of 95 people could be there at one time. Once again the Ridgewood blog wonders how did this actually pass village code when the home is only allowed to hold 50 people in total?

This is a major safety issue that could lead to legal obligations that could fall on the village in an emergency situation.  Are the business’ clients aware of the dangerous situation they are putting their children in?  If a business in town was exceeding the allotted amount of patrons would they be overlooked the same way the major issues at Healthbarn are being over looked?

Early on HealthBarn’s lease was questioned by many residents. The original lease was put up on the web site for all the residents. If there were changes approved after that, to allocate them more space, or to approve them to put up dog feeding station outside their allocated fenced area – all those documents should be part of the records being provided to the residents, just like their programs and their good deeds are being promoted on the village web site as part of their marketing on our expense. The Ridgewood blog has heard that a child was bitten by a dog on the property.

A quick walk in Habernickel Park we noticed that the parking lot lights seem to be moving forward.  It is difficult to understand why lights are being placed in a park that should be closing at dusk like ALL the other parks in town.

The lighting is going to be a huge quality of life disruption for many many neighbors.  Lights were already added to the gate house in several locations to benefit this business and remain on.
