Paramus NJ, The impact of a multi-vehicle, early Sunday evening, 05/30, collision on Route 17 southbound near the Garden State Parkway in Paramus sent a minivan careening off of the highway into the front wall of a nearby gas station. Paramus EMS transported one (1) crash victim to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. The victim’s injuries were believed to be non-life threatening. Paramus Police and Paramus Fire Department also responded to the incident.
Paramus NJ, a Honda Odyssey minivan was broadsided, and rolled over on its driver’s side during a Thursday afternoon, 05/20, multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Paramus Road and West Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus. The minivan’s driver was trapped inside of it until freed by Paramus Police Emergency Services Unit (ESU) personnel and members of the Paramus Fire Department. A Paramus EMS ambulance transported the victim, who appeared to have sustained non-life threatening injuries, to The Valley Hospital. The rolled over vehicle was righted by a specialized ESU vehicle and later removed from the scene by a tow truck. One (1) other vehicle involved in the collision was also reportedly removed by a tow.

A 911 caller who was unfamiliar with the area had reported the crash to Ridgewood Police, hence Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS units were the first to arrive at the scene. The victim was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A tow truck removed the heavily damaged vehicle from the scene. Paramus NJ, A three (3) vehicle Tuesday afternoon, 04/27, collision in front of 120 Route 17 North Paramus, wiped out a fire hydrant and a section of guardrail when a minivan involved in the crash careened off of the traveled roadway. One (1) person was extricated from the heavily damaged vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Arriving units determined that a vacant structure scheduled for demolition had fully collapsed, seemingly due to the weight of snow on its roof. No injuries were reported in the incident. A sub code official from the Borough of Paramus’ Building Department “red tagged” the property.

An SUV traveling on Route 17 northbound careened off the highway and caught fire after mounting a pedestrian bridge’s concrete staircase before coming to a halt. The vehicle’s adult male driver was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Center’s main campus with non life threatening injuries. A tow truck removed the charred vehicle from it’s predicament. Traffic on Route 17 northbound at the crash scene was limited to a single lane as emergency and vehicle recovery responders worked.
Paramus NJ, a faulty space heater was initially reported as the cause of a Tuesday morning, 11/10, fire that resulted in significant damage to a 1-1/2 story, single family home located in the 100 block of Behnke Avenue, Paramus. Personnel representing Paramus Fire Department, Paramus Police, Paramus Rescue Squad, and Paramus EMS were all engaged at the scene. The home’s occupants safely evacuated the structure prior to the arrival of firefighters.
Ridgewood NJ, A fully loaded commercially owned refuse truck flipped on its side while exiting Route 17 southbound to Linwood Avenue westbound, Ridgewood on Wednesday morning, 10/14. The truck’s driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. A traffic control sign and utility pole were damaged in the mishap. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood EMS, Paramus Police, Paramus Fire Department, and a paramedic unit from The Valley Hospital responded to the incident. A heavy duty tow truck was summoned to right the vehicle and remove it from the roadway. The exit and entrance ramps to Route 17 southbound at Linwood Avenue were closed for an extended period of time to facilitate vehicle removal and debris clean up.
Paramus NJ, A minor arm injury was the only injury reported following a two (2) vehicle, Wednesday afternoon, 09/09, motor vehicle crash with rollover in front of an East Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus home. Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, and Paramus Fire Department responded to the incident. A black Jaguar SUV rolled over on its roof and landed on the front lawn of a single family home after it collided with a red Toyota sedan. Both vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the scene by flatbed tow trucks.
Paramus NJ, A Wednesday afternoon, 08/19, rollover crash on Route 17 northbound in Paramus resulted in only minor injuries, but slowed traffic in both directions of the busy highway. Paramus NJ, after heavy thunder storms we often post photos of trees down in Ridgewood and Glen Rock but Sunday nights storms seemed to hit Paramus exceptionally hard. The truck’s driver self extricated prior to the arrival of emergency responders. Injuries were reported to be non life threatening in nature; one (1) person was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. Paramus Police, Paramus Fire Department, and Paramus EMS assisted NJ State Police Bloomfield Barracks troopers at the scene. The truck appeared to have been larger than the Parkway’s current weight limit for commercial vehicles; police at the scene did not say whether any summonses would be issued to the driver.
Paramus NJ, Route 17 was closed in both direction on Wednesday after a tractor trailer caught fire in front of Pier 1 across from the Fireplace at the Ridgewood Avenue exit. There may have been interruption in telephone, cable and electrical service. Wires were down causing heavy delays . It appears the truck careened off the highway hitting a utility pole.
