Ridgewood MLK Day Fiasco

Josh Gottheimer

Ridgewood NJ, This past Monday the Martin Luther King, jr. interfaith celebration was held. It was intended to be a celebration of the teachings of Dr. King and was to include Rev. Sampson, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in New York as the guest speaker, followed by an outdoor rally and a light lunch. The program was also to feature Ridgewood and Glen Rock student speakers and musical performances by the Indian Hills Chamber Choir and Men of Umoja chorus.

Much of the event was beautiful until Aronsohn and Gottheimer turned it into their own personal soapboxes.

It turned into a political rally of sorts. After Pastor Mack Brandon introduced Rep. Gottheimer and welcomed him to the podium, suddenly FORMER Mayor Aronsohn shoved his way to the front, all but pushing Gottheimer back down. Aronsohn then proceeded to give an unscheduled speech (unscheduled, but not unplanned, because he had a paper in his hand as he bulldozed his way to the altar). Following this ridiculous display, Aronsohn himself went on to welcome Gottheimer to come and speak, even though Gottheimer had already been invited to the microphone by Pastor Brandon a few minutes earlier. People were kind of shocked by Aronsohn going off-script and just inserting himself into the event. Gottheimer then proceeded to give a political rally type of speech, not one honoring Dr. King and his principles and teachings, but one that was self-promoting, all about him and his agenda.

Politicians (or wannabe politicians like Aronsohn) should be banned from speaking at such an event. It was a disgrace.

Reader says CRAB has long outlived its usefulness and veered off into personal politics

aronsohn and jan phillips

CRAB has long outlived its usefulness and veered off into personal politics. This is hardly a group to objectively advise the council. Sometimes a group’s having been in existence for a long time is a reason to end it, not continue it blindly. There is no good reason now for Ridgewood and Glen Rock to be united in this one way and only this way. It’s dumb.

The incident of the flipped car in Wilsey Square reflect the hazards predicted to arise from the Arohnson Council’s changes to our Village infrastructure.

Ridgewood NJ, The incident of the flipped car in Wilsey Square reflect the hazards predicted to arise from the Arohnson Council’s changes to our Village infrastructure.
Everyone knew the Wilsey sguare changes were a disaster waiting to happen: The bike lane, the wall, the intrusion of the wall into the square and, of course, the 42nd street neon sign falshing messages to already distracted drivers. The traffic back up each morning is horrific. Each day, pedestrians are at risk.

The Arohnson council was also warned of the consequences inherent in its decision to dump a private business into the middle of a public park and playground at Hillcrest park. Other examples abound.

But we haven’t seen anything yet. Pretty soon, the four massive Arohnson Council apartment projects will break ground and begin building at the same time. Dump trucks and construction vehicles will be barreling through our downtown and side streets day after day for the next year. And then, when the projects are completed and hundreds of new families move into our downtown, we will have somewhere between 300 and 900 cars going down our already overcrowded streets.

Its foolish to think those new families and current Village residents won’t be put at risk by these changes. Yet, what are we doing to prepare? What is the current council doing to anticipate and prevent more occurrences like the accident we just saw. Pointing fingers at the Arohnson council or at each other doesn’t help. Bad planning decisions have consequences. Yes, blame for the bad planning of the Arohnson council rightfully belong in its lap and on its conscience. However, the blame game doesn’t improve our safety. The current council needs to take affirmative steps now, or the results of its inaction will impinge on the safety of our Village citizens for years to come. It is not clear what it is doing to keep people safe. Moreover, it seems the current council may be headed in the wrong direction. If the current council goes through with a garagemahal in the middle of the new apartment complex, it will only exacerbate the problems by dumping another 200 cars on so into those same narrow, overcrowded streets.
Time for action now.

Haven’t we had ENOUGH of these two???? Neither is any good for Ridgewood. Never were. Never will be

Jeff Voigt Ridgewood Council

January 13,2018

From a concerned reader of The Blog:

Ridgewood NJ, Aronsohn and his little puppet Voigt are sending stupid letter after stupid letter to the Ridgewood News. Let’s sing the praises of Tim Cronin. Let’s applaud the CRAB. Let’s slam a citizen for speaking his mind at a Council meeting. Let’s slam another citizen. Let’s just keep getting our names in print week after week after week. They criticize The Blog even though they post on in themselves, anonymously of course. They have the same “MO” – which is “let’s meet for coffee, so I can talk to you off the record where no one can hear what I am saying and I will pressure, harass, or humiliate you, or will attempt to coerce you into doing something to benefit ME.”

Good Lord, Aronsohn has an ethics violation against him along with the fact that he is PRIME SUSPECT #1 in the killing of Mike Sedon’s job with the Staten Island Advance, he lost his cool at countless VC meetings, he lambasted fellow council members relentlessly, he interfered with citizens’ letters to the editor, he manipulated the Ridgewood News stories, he blocked citizens from seeking signatures on a petition, he publicly humiliated citizens who spoke at meetings, he pushed the high density housing through, he lies and he lies and he lies . . . . .

Paul_Aronsohn_theridgewood blog

And then we have his disciple Voigt who has gone wild at many public meetings, screaming at fellow council members and at the Village Manager, who publicly claimed he knows more about the law than Matt Rogers, who had charges pressed against him for harassing citizens, who himself pressed charges against one of the council members, who regularly gets his shills to come to meetings and read scripts that he has authored, who feels that a citizen has no right to conduct and Open Public Records Act request (even though he conducts them relentlessly himself), he lies and he lies and he lies . . . .

Haven’t we had ENOUGH of these two???? Neither is any good for Ridgewood. Never were. Never will be.

Reader raises more questions on HealthBarn lease

Healthbarn USA ridgewood

file photo by Boyd Loving

What needs to be explored is #1 what does this business do for Ridgewood besides pay a below market rent?

What benefits are there for Ridgewood to place a business in a park? To have changed the use of a home and whole residential area?

Why are certain folk supporting this to the extreme of embarrassing themselves?

And most importantly how much is this business costing the town of Ridgewood to be here?

And lastly if the business was down the street in waldwick would Ridgewood lose out on anything besides the under market rent?

Any class she does for the town or Ridgewood she gets paid,so why do we tax payers have to give up a park and a rental property?

Reader says The past council was open about how they wanted to destroy everything about the town that made it unique and charming

3 amigos in action Ridgewood NJ

The present council is worse than the previous. The past council was open about how they wanted to destroy everything about the town that made it unique and charming. This council is devious and destructive. Watch them tear away at the islands around the train station next. And dig deep because parking meters will demand your coin from 8 a.m to 9 p.m. to fund an ugly , muggers paradise parking garage. I can just read the headlines now. Train riders robbed, injured, late at night coming home from NYC on train and getting their car from top floor of expensive garage. Expensive garage will have garbage strewn around and taxpayers will have to pay for the clean every day. Meanwhile the employee parking lot at Cottage Place is always empty, only a few cars parked there. What wonderful planning by the council. THE PAST COUNCIL KEPT TAXES DOWN. Not with this stupid council. Remember , never say never, I thought I would never vote for Aronsohn and gang, but I will next time. At least I will know what I am getting. Disappointment is too painful.

Reader says The truth is we all bear responsibility for having allowed the exploitation to take place

3 amigos in action Ridgewood NJ

Arohnson is enough of a politician to have seen the gathering winds of suburban change and the undercurrent of discord that was building up. Then, he exploited. He used fear of change to create an appealing political message averring managed growth based on shared values. Once he had his triumpherate in place, however, he then set about reoraganizing things according to his own myoptic view. As he was fond of saying, he wanted to remodel Ridgewood in the pattern of the Brunswicks. Developers, hospital administrators, restaurant owners and others drove pick up trucks through his naivete, arrogance, stupidity and, yes, greed, and we taxpayers are left with the mess and the tax burden.
But, its wrong to blame this one target (no matter how blameworth it is ). The truth is we all bear responsibility for having allowed the exploitation to take place. And now the question is what are we really doing to undo what was done and put us back on track.

Reader debate the Extent of the Damage Done to the Village by the Previous Administration

Ridgewood 3 amigos

Well, the previous council and their committees got everything they wanted. That is the reality.

Multi family housing, parking garage, athletic filed at Schedler and to boot a bonus prize for hard work…. tearing away the lovely islands at the train station and putting in a narrow pathway and calling it just as attractive. Aronsohn and his gang must be laughing hard at that one while they sip their champagne. They got an unexpected reward!! Even they would never have suggested tearing away that lovely greenery. Clunk heads , the current council, clunk heads.

or maybe no….

well we do not have a parking garage and we might not ever. The proposed field at Schedler is way smaller than Don Delzio and his denizens proposed. The train station parking lot re-furb will be way WAY better than a gargantuan garage.

Aronsohn and his gang are meeting with lawyers and spending lots of money trying to figure out how to save the remains of their reputations from ethics charges, charges of lying about parking-app contracts, etc. Not a lot of champagne flowing there.

Reader says Ridgewood is an Easy Target for Political Scammers

Paul_Aronsohn_theridgewood blog

This town is about as good as it gets when it comes to attracting these chancers and crooks to our political process.

1. It’s wealthy

2. It’s mostly disconnected from the goings-on being that many of the adults work long Wall St hours and the wealthy wives are far too preoccupied with lunches and social activities.

3. It’s a very transient population. People move in so that their kids go through the schools – then move on.

4. The majority are Democrat and have a macro view of Democrat politics, having no clue as to the small town crookery that exists in local politics.

Readers Continue to Comment on the Flagrant Abuse of Power of the Previous Administration in Ridgewood

Ridgewood 3 amigos

So first Roberta and Paul use public funds illegally to influence their stupid parking garage vote. Then we find out that Roberta, under the reign of Paul, has signed a contract that is in direct conflict with the resolution, costing us (according to the CFO last week) upwards of $200,000. Wow, Roberta, you were aces. Thank you so much for the breath of fresh air that you left on our fair town.

Active “vote yes” promotion of the parking garage by elected office holders and village employees was always wrong, wrong, wrong, and NOBODY should be criticized for complaining. Whether they live in Ridgewood or not. This was a thumb in the eye of village residents and a flagrant abuse of the reins of government. The fact that we have neighbors willing go on record with complaints against such behavior is a blessing we don’t always deserve.

Reader says The Ridgewood News to publish if the person in question was a political ADVERSARY

Ridgewood News

And the photograph of Aronsohn. Looks like he’s giving someone the side-eye. Or perhaps he’s experiencing digestive distress. In any event, it’s not flattering. Sort of what you’d expect The Ridgewood News to publish if the person in question was a political ADVERSARY, not a fellow swamp-dweller like Aronsohn. Remarkable!

Reader says Most people will forget and Aronsohn might run for an office and possibly win

3 amigos in action Ridgewood NJ

Aronsohn will pay the one hundred and everyone, especially his fans will forget about it, and/or say that Aronsohn is just passionate about his ideas and maybe didn’t really know that what he was doing was unlawful and Aronsohn might run for an office and possibly win.
Most people will forget about this video talk; I mean whoever wrote that letter to Sedon’s newspaper, what about that and that person was never caught. That was a real crime. The newspaper who received the letter , did they cooperate with giving all evidence of the communication. Were they required to by law?
Really, this crime talkin on video about parking garage, it’s really chump change.

Amazing Headline in the Ridgewood News

Ridgewood News

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, an amazing headline today from the Ridgewood News , especially when you take into account the one sided journalistic arse kissing  and one sided reporting that often take place on their pages . The Ridgewood News like most of New Jersey’s media have been open cheerleaders , excuse makers and supporters for corruption and dishonestly in this ethically challenged state . It’s about time and we say welcome to the real world .

Reader says Roberta and the 3 Amigos ought to be made to reimburse the village for the cost of the video

Ridgewood 3 amigos

They worked so hard to get the garage for their own selfish purposes that it seems unfathomable that we are still talking about doing it. It was a stupid, stupid idea driven by the wrong reasons. Please, NO GARAGE–just repair the surface and rework the spaces to create more (done badly from the get-go). It shouldn’t be hard or expensive. And by the way, besides the wrist-slap fine paid to the state, they ought to be made to reimburse the village for the cost of the video, paid for with property tax dollars. That was the killer part!

Reader says Aronsohn and Sonenfeld had NO RIGHT to spend public funds to promote their agenda

paul Aronsohn

People had a right to be for OR against the garage. They still do. But Aronsohn and Sonenfeld had NO RIGHT to spend public funds to promote their agenda. And let us not forget Ms. Hauck, who actually hired the video company that made the video, paid for it, and then collected reimbursement from public money. Private citizens can send out any mailings they want, such as those Herr Halaby sends from time to time, and those that politicians send, and those that restaurants flood our mailboxes with. But if private funds are used, there is no crime. Surely if you are smart enough to come up with a clever numeric moniker, then you can understand this concept.
And while we are on the subject, what about Ms. Sonenfeld’s interference with citizens who were legally seeking signatures on the referendum petitions. That was grossly inappropriate, and we have videos of her self-righteous blustering performance in Van Neste.

Village_Manager_Roberta_Sonenfeld_theridgewoodblog
We are so lucky to be rid of Aronsohn, Sonenfeld, Hauck, and Pucciarelli. They were fueled by egos that would not quit, they screwed us with high density housing, Aronsohn attempted to destroy two citizens’ jobs, he edited citizens’ letters to the paper before they could be printed. Sonenfeld, Aronsohn, Hauck, and Pucciarelli berated members of the public loudly and nastily. The list goes on and on. Watch closely folks, whoever these people support in the spring will be tainted with toxins.
