Twp. of Washington NJ, Passaic road was the scene of a reported gas leak near the Valley Bible Chapel (56 Pascack Rd) on Sunday night around 6pm . Township, Police ,Fire and Emergency services converged on the location along with PSE&G . Over the years their have been reports of gas leaks in the neighborhood . Several years ago PSE&G did some pretty extensive checking .
Twp. of Washington NJ, PSE&G will join Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS) to recognize the sixth annual Utility Scam Awareness Week, Nov 15-19. National Scam Awareness Week is an advocacy and awareness campaign focused on educating customers and exposing the tactics used by scammers.
The Ridgewood Police report that on November 10, 2021 at sixty-two-year-old (62) male reported that he may have fallen victim to a telephone scam. The victim reported that he was contacted by a male, via telephone, who falsely claimed that the victim was behind on a utility bill. The scammer provided the victim with instructions to pay the fake balance with a cryptocurrency. Ridgewood Police Detectives were contacted before any transactions took place and were able to prevent the theft from occurring. The matter is currently under investigation.

Glen Rock NJ, An early Saturday afternoon, 10/02, brush fire along the PSE&G right-of-way near Prospect Street in Glen Rock was quickly contained and extinguished by Glen Rock police officers and firefighters. A nearby homeowner using a garden hose also assisted in fighting the blaze, which generated a large amount of smoke, but caused very little damage. Neighbors reported hearing at least one (1) explosion just prior to noticing smoke coming from the area. No PSE&G electric transmission equipment appeared to have been damaged in the conflagration, nor were there any injuries reported. Ridgewood firefighters assisted their Glen Rock counterparts in ensuring the area was completely free of “hot spots.”

Ridgewood NJ, The roof and front façade of a single family home located in the 300 block of Wastena Terrace, Ridgewood sustained heavy damage when a large tree limb fell late Thursday morning, 07/15. No injuries were reported by the occupants, nor were any bystanders injured. A team of Ridgewood firefighters worked to spread a plastic cover over the roof to prevent possible water damage. Employees of PSE&G’s Electric Division and the Village of Ridgewood’s Shade Tree and Building Departments were also on the scene. A Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer provided traffic control and initiated a property damage report.

Ridgewood NJ, PSE&G wants customers to be aware of an active scam threatening disconnection of electric service due to a pending balance. Customers are reporting automated calls claiming to be from the “Disconnection Department of PSE&G New Jersey” and encouraging them to connect through to speak to a representative.
Glen Rock NJ, residents of Glen Rock who live near the Hamilton School have been plagued by a loud booming noise since early Saturday evening. Glen Rock Police, fire, and PSE&G personnel have thus far been unable to locate the noise’s origin. The noise is said to be loud enough to knock items off of shelves. A single family home on Romary Court is apparently being impacted more so than any other address in the Borough.
Paramus NJ, traffic on Route 17 northbound in Paramus was slowed to a crawl on Tuesday evening, 05/11, as a result of a serious crash near the Midland Avenue overpass. Multiple injuries requiring ambulance transportation were reported following the crash of an SUV into a utility pole. Paramus Police, Paramus Fire Department, and Paramus EMS units responded to the incident along with mutual aid ambulances and a paramedic team from the local hospital consortium.
