Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Emergency Services held its Annual Emergency Service Dinner hosted by Friends of Ridgewood Emergency Services (FOREST). Emergency Services personnel danced the night away, recognized some huge achievements . Mayor Vagianos helped swear in our new officers.
Twp. of Washington NJ, it is a point that many first responders, in most recent years, have been wanting to make – that long gone are the days when Emergency Medical Technicians were mere ambulance drivers. Today, the modern-day first responder is a highly trained, technically skilled professional with a wide range of demanding duties ranging from counter-terrorism to the protection of high-value individuals.
Ridgewood NJ, one (1) person sustained a non life threatening injury when a VW Golf collided with a Ford SUV at the intersection of Linwood Avenue and Northern Parkway, Ridgewood on Sunday afternoon, 01/15. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene. The injured party was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services all responded to the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, a two (2) vehicle Friday night, 01/13, head-on crash at the intersection of Fairmount Road and North Monroe Street, Ridgewood caused serious injuries to at least two (2) individuals. Multiple ambulances transported victims to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital provided Advanced Life Support care to one (1) of the victims. Ridgewood Fire Department personnel assisted with extricating victims from the wreckage, assisted with basic EMS care, and mitigated a crash related fluid spill. Midland Park Police assisted Ridgewood Police with traffic control. The roadway remained closed for an extended period following the crash to facilitate a complete accident investigation; lighting was provided by Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel.
Ridgewood NJ, congratulations to our first ever member of the month Tarun Kalyanaraman! Tarun is a probationary EMT, and the current Sergeant of TIES. After joining the TIES program and learning about public service, he was inspired to become an EMT to be able help people in need and try to give back to the community.
Glen Rock NJ, a single vehicle, Wednesday morning, 01/04, crash into a utility pole at the intersection of Route 208 northbound and Harristown Road, Glen Rock, caused a communications cable to drop across the entire width of Route 208, stopping traffic on the busy highway in both directions for over one (1) hour. No injuries were reported in the crash; a flatbed tow truck removed the heavily damaged vehicle from the intersection.
Ridgewood Nj, after promising residents the retention of Ridgewood Emergency Services during the contentious Village council election and lambasting Mayor Kundsen over the discontinuation of the per diem program , the new council has scheduled Ridgewood Emergency Services to begin its merger with Ridgewood Fire Department on January 1st. Once again voting has consequences .
It is now being reported that possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees that should have been billed in connection with Village provided emergency ambulance transportation, and/or treatment, was neither billed nor collected because Emergency Services volunteers failed to process the required documentation.
Ridgewood NJ, It is being reported that Ridgewood Village Manager Heather Mailander has opted not to appoint a new Chief of Ridgewood Emergency Services (to replace former Chief Ryan Savaria, who moved out of state), but instead has directed that all Emergency Services personnel now report to Ridgewood Fire Chief John Judge.
Ridgewood NJ, TIES (Teens in Emergency Services) is our youth division of Ridgewood Emergency Services with high school students interested in all facets of healthcare and public safety, who complete trainings and drills as well as volunteer in the community. They did a great job volunteering at Ridgewood’s annual Downtown for the Holiday’s event!
Glen Rock NJ, many Bergen county municipalities hosted a Thanksgiving day run to help residents burn off some of their Thanksgiving day dinner . One of those is the borough of Glen Rock , organized by Racefaster called , 5k Run “Turkey Trot “. Ridgewood Emergency Services added a helping hand through their Special Operations unit to help out on race day .
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services units responded to a horrific vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of Northern Parkway and Linwood Avenue, Ridgewood on Tuesday morning, 11/15.
Glen Rock NJ, a downed high voltage electric power line resulted in an hours long closure of Route 208 in both directions through portions of Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, and Hawthorne on Saturday afternoon, 11/12. The energized line also damaged a section of pavement on the southbound highway in Glen Rock when in fell, which resulted in a lane closure once the highway did finally reopen. Glen Rock Police, Glen Rock Fire Department, Fair Lawn Police, Hawthorne Police, New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, PSE&G Electric Division, and Ridgewood Emergency Services units responded to the incident. Additional power lines in Glen Rock were downed later that day when a tree fell in a wooded area near NJ Transit’s Main Line tracks. Wide area power outages were reported in connection with that mishap.
Ridgewood NJ, Today is National First Responder Day across the United States. First Responders put their lives on the line everyday to keep Americans safe. First Responders act quickly when an emergency is at hand. First Responders, be them Volunteers and Career First Responders are the core of our communities. EMS, Police Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Managers and Dispatchers as well as the bystanders trained in CPR and Stop The Bleed. All the people who selflessly serve as First Responders to keep our communities safe we applaud you.

For the record this blog has always been a big fan of the volunteer EMT’s in the Village of Ridgewood , but certain agenda pushing residents have tried to use this event to further their own aims ,distort the public record and hurt Ridgewood Emergency Services Reputation.
