Ridgewood NJ, Uniformed patrol officers from Fair Lawn PD (2 units) and Paramus PD (3 units) were dispatched to aid Ridgewood PD in dispersing a large number of juveniles who had gathered to attend a party at a private home in the area of Newcomb Road, Ridgewood on Friday evening, 05/12. Ridgewood PD had received numerous 911 telephone calls from residents in the area reporting loud music, crowds of teenagers congregating, and unknown individuals running through back yards. Over 100 youths were dispersed from the area but not prior to an incident in which a 15 year old Wyckoff resident was allegedly struck in the head with a baseball bat by an adult male resident of Newcomb Road. An ambulance was called to evaluate the victim’s injuries, which were reported to have been non life threatening. No charges were immediately filed, however Ridgewood PD is investigating the alleged assault.

Reader asks So the The Gadsden flag is Ok for the 4th of July Parade then ?

Gadsden_flag_theridgewoodblog

The New Jersey Tea Party Coalition has marched in the Ridgewood Fourth of July Parade every year for at least the last five years. The administrators of the parade would not have permitted this without having determined in advance that the NJTPC, in so marching, is not acting to promote a political agenda. Councilman Voigt has determined in his infinite wisdom that the six-color crowd is not acting politically when it raises its flag on village property. (Presumably his next move will be to try and force the parade committee to allow the six-color crowd to march in support of their chosen lifestyle in the parade.) Based on Councilman Voigt’s logic, should we not expect him to vote “yes” when the NJTPC petitions the council to permit its flag to be raised and displayed all day every day during Tea Party Pride Month?

Reader says This is nothing but extremism

the Prisoner

There are many like me who do not really care about what people do in their bedrooms. Someone getting gay-married does nothing to my marriage so I couldn’t care less. We work with gay coworkers, have gay friends and really do not give any more thought to someone being gay than we do to someone being straight.

However, I only want the American flag flying on the Village Hall – not a rainbow flag, not a vegan flag, not a muslim flag, not a Black Lives Matter flag, and a Lenape flag and not the Confederate flag.

But it appears that if I as much as mention the same, I am going to be harassed and bullied for being a ‘bigot.’ How I lead my life, how I interact with people, how I do not discriminate at all between someone gay and someone straight in my real life does not matter. I am either screaming out my support for flying the rainbow flag or I am a bigot. I am suddenly no different from the people tossing gays off buildings.

This is nothing by extremism. And it is detrimental to the movement itself. Harassing and publicly bullying people may shut them down but the feelings of resentment will not disappear. This appears to be more of an attempt to ‘plant a flag’ and rub it in everyone’s face, rather than support for tolerance or anything.

Reader Points Out Rainbow Flag Opens a Can of Worms

WALLACE

If the Ridgewood chapter of the Confederate States of America Historical Society were to have their petition to fly their organization’s flag (the Stars and Bars battle flag) turned down, they would sue, successfully, and for plenty of money. If they received approval and their flag were raised over Van Neste Square, George Soros and his highly paid ninja-clad Antifa rioters would reduce Ridgewood to rubble in the space of three days. Village Council, you have brought this circumstance about by your foolishness and incapacity to ask your hired legal gun the right combination of questions. What are we to do with you? Send all five of you to a remedial Muni Law workshop in Atlantic City for the weekend? The Mayor and Deputy Mayor, up for re-election next year, need to get religion (small “r”) pronto.

Reader says All roads lead to Aronsohn Controled CRAB

Jeff Voigt Ridgewood Council

file photo by Boyd Loving

Curious- the Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock is harassing the hell out the Ridgewood Village Council/Mayor in requesting the pride flag be flown at our Town Hall. Are they requesting the same from Glen Rock Council/Mayor? What say you Jeff Voigt? Pretty sure this smells of town politics especially when you consider Jeff Voigt is best friends w Hans Lehman who is married to Jan Phillips, Chair of CRAB. Disgusting. They say this isn’t political but it is. CRAB is politicizing this. All roads lead to Aronson-also a member of CRAB.
RESIGN NOW JEFF. BEFORE THE RESIDENTS OF RIDGEWOOD RECALL YOU.

Sullivan: Former Ridgewood kicker Younghoe Koo pursuing NFL dream

nfl-on-grass

Tara Sullivan , NorthJerseyPublished 10:57 a.m. ET May 11, 2017 | Updated 1 hour ago

At first, it was the confusion. Then it was the loneliness.

Lost in this new American world, Younghoe Koo did his best to navigate the halls of Ridgewood’s Benjamin Franklin Middle School. But the sixth-grader didn’t speak the language, didn’t know the customs and didn’t, perhaps worst of all, know a soul. The lack of connection to kids his own age had built an imposing barrier from his old life in South Korea to his new one in New Jersey, cacophonous confusion by day, quiet solitude by night.

Taxpayer Foot $70,000 for ADA Ramp at HealthBarn Building at Habernickel Park in Ridgewood

Habernickel Park Gate House

Ridgewood NJ, Questions where raised at Wednesday’s Village council meeting by resident Boyd Loving as to why the Village was agreeing to build a $70,000 ADA ramp for a building a private business HealthBarn  in Habernickel Park. The council looked like deer in the headlights , clearly caught off guard by the question .

It currently appears that HealthBarn is making no contribution and leases the property for $50,000. So the question arises why is the Village paying $70,000 for a property we are only receiving $50,000 ?

Ridgewood Councilmen Voigt was caught in what appeared to be conspiring with the Alfred P. Doblin of NorthJersey media

Ridgewood NJ, Councilmen Voigt was caught in what appeared to be conspiring with the Alfred P. Doblin ,NorthJersey media from the Bergen Record  on Gay Flag issue . Voigt was caught in what looked like an attempt to undermine the council . Sounds like an Aronsohn move.

A reader commented , “Wedge issue, Voigt just fed his council colleagues a cr** sandwich. They willingly ate it and will now need to live with the electoral consequences. Snap prediction: neither Knudsen nor Sedon will end up running for re-election. Four members of the Council just revealed themselves as soft-minded, and the fifth, a devious alinskyite and a dedicated Aronsohn-style progressive. What a disaster.”

Reader says, “He doesn’t have the chops for this and ought to resign. Machiavelli would have deplored his childish outbursts and petulant behavior. Last night, outraged at having been discovered in his supposedly secret machinations that were actually on the public record because he used his official email address, he stormed out of the building before the closed session, probably to the relief of the other four council members who were about discuss items such as…bullying. Jeff, you’re demonstrating precisely the attitudes and alliances we feared. The years when three good council candidates must be found are tough! We did the best we could in 2016, but it wasn’t good enough.”

Airbnb rentals in New Jersey may be taxed by next year

Home-sharing rentals may be taxed in New Jersey beginning next year, under a bill with the blessing of Airbnb that took another step through the Legislature on Wednesday.

The bill would impose the same sales and lodging taxes that hotels and motels already collect. In some municipalities, that adds up to 18 percent, said bill sponsor Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, D-Union.

“There are many reasons why this bill should be enacted. In a nutshell, it’s really about fairness,” said Quijano.

“The way our laws are right now provide a considerable disadvantage to those who already run hotel and motel businesses and are a considerable hurdle to those contemplating investing in our hotels and motels in this state,” she said.

“I don’t believe that all those who use Airbnb or other services like it are necessarily choosing it because they love the idea of home sharing over a hotel or motel,” Quijano said. “I believe much of the choice is driven by the fact that home sharing services have a huge competitive advantage. They don’t have to pay taxes.”
