Ridgewood NJ, on the morning of Wednesday, September 18th, Ridgewood Police took the driver of a white Chevrolet Equinox into custody following a crash in the 300 block of East Ridgewood Avenue. The crash occurred just before 11 AM as the vehicle was traveling westbound near Hope Street, striking two parked cars.

Fraudsters in New Jersey have devised a new and alarming tactic to deceive residents, prompting concern from law enforcement. Scammers are now impersonating real police officers when calling unsuspecting victims, threatening them with jail time for allegedly missing jury duty unless they make immediate payments.

Ridgewood NJ, according to Village Manager Keith Kazmark ,the Village has received a written response from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, in consultation with the Attorney General’s Office, regarding the Clinton Avenue street closure on days when school is in session. Said response is attached. Highlighted in the letter is the determination which reads, “As such, please note that the Ordinance (allowing Clinton Ave. to be closed to thru traffic) does not have any legal force or effect unless approved by the Commissioner, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(a).” In light of this decision, Clinton Avenue will be open starting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, which is the first day of school.

Glen Rock NJ, on Tuesday evening, July 30, shortly after 7:00 pm, all on-duty Glen Rock Police uniformed patrol units responded to a report of a fist fight at the basketball courts in Wilde Park, which had drawn a gathering crowd. By the time patrol units arrived, the altercation had ended, and at least one of the participants had already left the area.

The caller(s) are utilizing the actual names of officers in local departments and are claiming to have warrants for the residents that they are calling. If you receive a similar call do not provide the caller with any of your personal information or attempt to send them money or funds of any type. The Upper Saddle River Police Department will not call residents in refence to any warrant and will never request money to be sent to satisfy a warrant. If you received one of these calls please disregard it. Please contact the police department only if you received one of these calls and provided personal information or provided the caller with funds of any type.

A late Friday afternoon hit-and-run incident on June 21 led to the arrest of an adult male DUI suspect by Ridgewood Police patrol officers. The suspect, driving a black Nissan sedan, allegedly struck a parked, unoccupied Hyundai SUV on East Glen Avenue before continuing westbound and mounting a curb at the corner of Northern Parkway.
