“Who’s on first?” – Deployment of police officers at #Ridgewood Public Schools

Ridgewood NJ, during a Monday, April 8th Ridgewood Board of Education meeting, Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Schwarz announced his intention of hiring and deploying two (2) Class III police officers for the 2024/2025 school year. These two (2) officers would replace the existing one (1) Ridgewood Police Department School Resource Officer now serving the school district.

Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department Respond to Pedestrian Hazard in Central Business District

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department personnel responded to mitigate a reported hazardous condition at 39 East Ridgewood Avenue on Thursday morning, 04/04. Aluminum flashing from the roof of a commercial structure had torn loose during overnight winds. One (1) piece of the flashing had fallen to the sidewalk below, and another was still suspended overhanging the sidewalk. Ridgewood  firefighters used a ground ladder to access the roof and secure the suspended piece of flashing. The fallen piece was removed from the scene by a member of the Village’s Sanitation Division. No injuries were reported. Ridgewood Police officers provided pedestrian and traffic control while firefighters worked.

Drivers habitually ignore “NO LEFT TURN” signs at Starbucks drive-through on Franklin Ave in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, where’s a cop when you need one? Seemingly never stationed outside of the Ridgewood Starbucks drive-through on Franklin Ave, where drivers routinely cause near misses by making prohibited left turns into and out of the facility’s drive-through lane. A few years back, orange & white striped traffic stanchions prevented those unlawful left turn turns from happening. Why were they removed?

Hiker Breaks Ankle at Irene Habernickel Family Park in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters used a truck mounted winch to assist in the Saturday morning, 03/16, rescue of an adult male who broke an ankle while hiking in the Irene Habernickel Family Park. The individual was conscious and alert when firefighters arrived on scene, but stranded on a trail located at the bottom of a steep incline. After being extricated from the trail, the victim was loaded into a waiting ambulance and transported to The Valley Hospital. No firefighters were injured during the rescue operation. Ridgewood Police also responded to the incident.

The celebration marks the anniversary of Saint Patrick’s death in the fifth century and represents the arrival of Christianity in the country. The Irish have observed this day as a holiday for over 1,000 years, and while the festival began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland, today it has become an international celebration of Irish culture.

Driver Suspect of DUI in Ridgewood Sun day Morning Crash

Ridgewood NJ, a suspected DUI driver crashed an Accura RLX into a utility pole on North Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood shortly before 8:30 AM, Sunday, 03/03, snapping the pole and causing scattered localized power & communications outages. Ridgewood Policve transported the individual to Glen Rock Police headquarters in order to administer alcohol testing; the suspect, who was subsequently transported to Ridgewood Police headquarters for processing, was uninjured in the crash. A flatbed tow truck removed the Accura from the scene and PSE&G & Verizon crews were notified of the damaged equipment. Ridgewood Emergency Services assisted with traffic control.

No Injuries in Friday Morning School Bus Crash in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with a two (2) vehicle, Friday morning, 02/16, collision at the intersection of Kenilworth Road and Laurel Road, Ridgewood. One (1) of the vehicles involved was a mini school bus. No children were on board the bus when the accident occurred. The bus’ three (3) adult occupants were uninjured, as was the driver of the 4-door sedan involved (no passengers were in the sedan). Both vehicles were towed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Fire/EMS also responded to the incident.

Summons Issued in East Ridgewood Avenue and North Irving Collision

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with a two (2) vehicle, Wednesday morning, 02/14, collision at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Irving Street, in Ridgewood. The driver of a black colored Tesla involved in the crash was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non-life threatening wrist and back injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Ridgewood Fire Department/EMS also responded to the incident.
