Ridgewood NJ, The Village’s Parks Department employees are cutting up the trees which they take down into logs, and offering them to Ridgewood residents for free at the Recycling Center. This saves the Village money, because we don’t have to pay to dispose of the trees which are cut down, and it also provides residents with free firewood for their homes. You may pick up the logs at the Recycling Center, during their regular business hours.

A copy of the postcard is attached to this E-Notice, so that you can print it out if you wish to do so. The leaf collection areas are based on yardwaste areas (A-D), with certain exceptions listed for Area D, during leaf season only. The leaf collection is currently on schedule. The schedule will be updated on the Village website, www.ridgewoodnj.net, as needed. Please click on the swirling leaf icon for more information. All areas have been picked up once and some are putting out their leaves for their second leaf placement, at this time.

What should the Village be like in 5, 10, or 20 years? What trends do you think might have a significant impact on the Village in the future? What is your vision for the future of the Village?

To my fellow residents, No matter how you voted, we need to remember, we are one community and we all want what’s best for this community, even if our way of achieving that differs from one another. We, as a community, can have different opinions, philosophies or ideas, but that shouldn’t make us enemies. We need to set better examples for our children and our fellow residents. We must learn, or remember, to treat each other with kindness and respect. I tried to run this campaign with a positive message and showed nothing but respect for Mr. Loncto throughout. I may not agree with everything he’s done, but I wish him nothing but the best and appreciate his years of service. To those that did support me during this campaign, I can’t thank you enough. When you have the support system that I had, and the community behind you, you feel like you can do anything. We still have a lot of work to do, but it’s the beginning of change. We are all #RidgewoodStrong.

On back to school night the RHS principal boasted that he has been all over the world and has never met the quality of education that RHS provides. I couldn’t believe my ears. I whispered to my wife “This guy is full of himself. We’re doomed”. Right there you have the answer for the RHS ranking woes. If right now we’re ranked 38th in NJ I bet next year we will fall below 50.
There are some teachers at RHS who are trying to reinvent the wheel with their teaching methods and basically just pose a problem to class without even giving lessons on it. So kids have to figure out where to find the info and study it by themselves. Teachers are not teaching and then we have to fork out $$$ for tutors. They are confusing and stressing these kids out with their “innovative” ways.
There are a lot of other teachers who really enjoy their work and are dedicated and I respect them. But I have a terrible feeling for the future when I think of where we are now and what will happen when the large buildings pop out across town.
I never thought I would consider moving but now it is seriously in my radar however painful it can be.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood EMS and Ridgewood Police Patrol Officers Patrick Elwood & Kevin McKeon responded to aid the adult female victim of a single vehicle crash in the 700 block of Grove Street, Ridgewood on Sunday afternoon, 11/04. The victim was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked white colored, 4-door sedan. A young shade tree was also destroyed in the incident. The accident may have been caused when the driver experienced a medical episode.

Ridgewood NJ, Village crews started collecting leaves placed along the curbline in the street beginning October 22,2018 and will continue through December 21st weather permitting. Designated yard waste area’s A-D will be used for leaf removal purposes .
The town has been accused of screwing up the leaf pick up across the board over the last 5 years, but there has been progress made the last couple of years in expediting the process . The Village can not control the weather and many remember , “Christmas trees frozen into huge uncollected leaf piles. Like mountains on the moon..wet leaves frozen into the streets”

There are still some dedicated teachers in the system but more often than not, tenure destroys motivation. Ridgewood teachers are very, very lucky. They receive top teaching salaries and for the most part their students do receive support from homes where education is prized. The NJEA and its demands will continue to bankrupt the state. Nurses do not earn as much as teachers nor do they enjoy the same benefits packages. That is not to say that effective, caring teaching is not an extremely demanding job but all the complaints about their salaries/benefits are hard to entertain. Personally, I think those who teach in less desirable districts should be the high earners. That is where you find the dedication and what used to motivate those entering the profession – hoping to make a difference and inspire learning.
