Ridgewood NJ, following recent updates to COVID-19 guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in advance of the upcoming school year, Governor Phil Murphy today signed an executive order lifting the requirement that school districts, child care settings, and state contractors maintain a policy requiring their unvaccinated workers undergo routine testing. The change will apply to school districts and child care settings immediately, and to state contractors as of September 1, 2022.

Ridgefield NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of LI FAN FENG (DOB: 01/13/2002; single; unemployed) of 13418 Blossom Ave, Flushing, NY on a charge of possession with intent to distribute more than 400 pounds of marijuana. Rochelle Park NJ, a tractor trailer fire on Route 17 shut down the southbound side of Route 17 Monday morning. The highway was closed for more than an hour. The tractor-trailer’s cab caught fire near an Acura dealership in Rochelle Park, north of Route 80 and south of Becker Avenue. Firefighters went to work on the truck and contained the fire before 10 a.m., the cab charred from the flames. The New Jersey Department of Transportation advised drivers to follow a detour or plan a different route.

Point Pleasant NJ, according to NJ Transit a teen died after being struck by a NJ Transit train in Point Pleasant Beach on Sunday afternoon. NJ Transit says a train that departed Long Branch shortly after 3:45 p.m. that was bound for Bay Head struck the child at the Forman Avenue crossing.

River Edge NJ, stolen c.1812 Cannon mystery deepens at the Bergen County Historical Society ,Eric Pain, Superintendent of Ringwood State Park jumped on putting us in touch with Timothy Andro /Owner, Northeast Public Safety Divers & Mahwah Rescue 1 Dive Coordinator & North Jersey Regional Scuba to help look for our c.1812 cannon that was reported stolen May 9, 1980 from in front of the Steuben House. One response from a previous Facebook post was that it was thrown off the bridge at that time.

Ridgewood NJ, candidate petitions to run for election as a Village Councilmember are available in the Village Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are two open positions on the Village Council, which are up for election at the November 8, 2022 General Election. A minimum of 192 valid Nominating Petitions must be filed to secure a place on the ballot. Each Petition must be signed by one registered voter of the Village of Ridgewood, and each voter may only sign two petitions. Petitions must be filed in the Office of the Village Clerk before 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
