The West Glen Avenue Sidewalk Installation Safety Initiative Back in Play in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, with one failed initiative after another , the Village of Ridgewood Council puts pedestrian safety back on the front burner . Thanks to Councilwoman Lorraine Reynolds who championed the transfer of $500,000 designated for repairs to the village’s historic Zabriskie-Schedler house toward an estimated $1 million sidewalk project , known as the West Glen Avenue sidewalk installation safety initiative at the budget meeting in May, Reynolds argued that the historic home repairs would be stalled by lawsuits and the money should be put to more immediate use on “safety projects.”

Thousands of actors officially go on strike starting Friday as the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists failed to secure a new contract with major studios by the Wednesday midnight deadline.

Ridgewood NJ, in a significant breakthrough, Ripple won a longstanding dispute with the SEC, with a US judge ruling that Ripple didn’t breach federal securities law by trading its XRP token on public platforms. However, the SEC claimed a small victory, as Ripple’s XRP sales to institutional investors were considered unregistered security sales. Ripple’s CEO deemed the ruling to be a considerable win for the broader industry. The ruling sparked a wave of green in the crypto market, with crypto prices rocketing up.

Hackensack NJ, a late-morning fire temporarily disrupted  business at the Coach House diner on Route 4 East before City of Hackensack firefighters arrived . The 11 am fire at the popular breakfast spot was according to sources a small electrical fire . No injuries reported .

No Transparency: Village of Ridgewood Mayor Squelches Public Comment

Ridgewood NJ, at the July 12, 2023 Village Council meeting, a presentation by a so-called “expert” talked about how he plans to get the historic designation of the Schedler Park property reversed.  As if this whole charade wasn’t bad enough, the man droned on and ON for close to an hour and a half.  The Mayor, who is the presiding officer, did nothing to make the guy bring his excruciating monologue to a conclusion.  And the Mayor himself has publicly stated that he wants presentations, such as this, not to exceed 15 minutes.

Ridgewood NJ, As if clear cutting hundreds of trees is not already bad enough , Peter Primavera of Peter Primavera Partners LLC  the controversial “historic preservation consultant” hired by the Ridgewood Village Council told the Council at Wednesday’s meeting that the circa-1825 Dutch American wood-frame house should be moved about 528 feet north to a yet-to-be-purchased single-family property at 510 West Saddle River Road, make room for the turf field slated for the Schedler Park Property on Route 17.
