Saddle Brook NJ, three (3) vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene of an early Friday morning, 02/02, crash that occurred on Pehle Avenue near Liberty Street in Saddle Brook. The driver of a Honda CR-V traveling eastbound on Pehle Avenue at approximately 6:15 AM veered off of the roadway, mounted a curb, and traveled down a sidewalk parallel to the street, striking a parked BMW sedan and damaging fences, shrubbery, and mailboxes along the way. The Honda rolled over onto its driver’s side after striking & demolishing an Acura parked in a driveway at 58 Pehle Avenue. Saddle Brook PD patrol officers freed the Honda’s driver, who was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus with unspecified injuries. Tow trucks removed all three (3) damaged vehicles from the scene. Saddle Brook FD also responded to the incident.

The FBI is warning the public about scammers instructing victims, many of whom are senior citizens, to liquidate their assets into cash and/or buy gold, silver, or other precious metals to protect their funds. Criminals then arrange for couriers to meet the victims in person to pick up the cash or precious metals. From May to December 2023, the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) saw an uptick in this activity with aggregated losses of over $55 million.

Platkin and the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability (OPIA) today announced that Holtec International, a Camden-based energy technology company involved in the decommissioning of nuclear power sites, agreed to pay $5 million in penalties and retain an independent reviewer approved by the State to monitor future applications for State benefits, and in exchange the State agrees to defer criminal prosecution following a lengthy criminal investigation into applications by Holtec and a related company, Singh Real Estate Enterprises (SRE), to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) for $1 million worth of tax credits from the Angel Investor Tax Credit Program.
