Ridgewood Water is Looking to Remove all Lead Service Lines

Ridgewood NJ, as part of New Jersey’s legislative mandate to remove all lead service lines (including galvanized iron) by July 2031, water utilities need to determine the material type of every service line in their water system. Ridgewood Water continues its work to determine the service line material for those properties where the material type is currently unknown. We will be utilizing our Vac-Con truck to dig small holes in the right-of-way of properties, allowing us to expose both sides of the valve that connects the main in the street to the service line running to a home or business. We will then document the material type of both the main-to-curb (utility-owned) and curb-to-building (privately owned by homeowner/business) portions.

Ridgewood NJ, Legal experts contacted by The Ridgewood Blog speculate that the Village Council’s failure to rescind Resolution 18-236, Approve Field Design for Schedler Park (approved by unanimous vote on July 18, 2018), invalidates their recent approval of Resolution 23-148, Approve Plan for Schedler Park (approved by 3-2 vote on April 12, 2023).

Resolution 23-108  Establish Waivable Policy for End Time of Village Council Meetings – establishes a policy for Village Council meetings to end at 11:00 pm, which can be waived by a consensus of a majority of the Village Council.

UPDATE: Attempted Sabotage Spotted at the Schedler Property in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, recent walk through of the Schedler Property reveled  electrical wiring issues at the home. It appears someone is trying to sabotage the property , perhaps burn it down as has been suggested from some corners the Village.

“As a license electrician looking at what they have there… I can assure you there is no sabotage other than bubble covers missing from 2 of the boxes. It apears 1 fell off and the 2nd one has a broken plastic hinge from the picture. There is no overload there at all there are nine circuits of which eight are visible… each twelve and fourteen gauge chord has its own circuit. This is above and beyond the rules of the NEC..” JN

U.S. Postal Service Raising Rates Again

Ridgewood NJ, the United States Postal Service filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) of mailing services price changes to take effect July 9, 2023. The new rates include a three-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp from 63 cents to 66 cents.

Delaware Riverkeeper Network Chastises Ridgewood Council Over Schedler Property Calling the Destruction of the Property a “substantially damaging environmental action”

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Village Council was chastised by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network for the Village of Ridgewood signing the “Green Amendment” . In a letter to the Village Council ,the Delaware Riverkeeper Network called the planning to remove all the trees and install an artificial turf field at the the historic Schedler property ,”direct opposition the the principles outlined in the (Green amendment)”. They referred to the clear cutting of trees and putting in a turf field as a “substantially damaging environmental action”  and and finally they called the Village Council “hypocritical” for signing the amendment .

Recall Mayor Movement Heats Up in Ridgewood

Ridgewoood NJ, the current Mayor and Village Council will not stop just with ramming through an irresponsible sports complex and disregarding the needs and safety of the neighbors in its proximity. Other inappropriate and harmful projects will no doubt be forthcoming. The only remedy is a recall election of this Mayor to mitigate the pending damage, unfortunately a recall is what’s necessary.
