Ridgewood Nj, during the Wednesday nights Village Council meeting a proclamation was read to honor Feeds the Frontlines. Feed the Frontlines – Helping Those In Need Initiative began as a call-to-action to provide ready-to-eat meals prepared by local Ridgewood restaurants to first responders, community groups and people in need during the pandemic. During the height of the pandemic in Spring 2020, it was an organized way for people to help feed local healthcare workers, first responders and people in need while supporting local restaurants who have been hit hard economically. This initiative earned the volunteer leadership team the 2021 NJ Governor’s Jefferson Award for volunteer program in September 2021.

Trenton NJ, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) called on New Jersey lawmakers to help provide fuel cost relief for small businesses, workers, and commuters across the Garden State. NFIB’s New Jersey state director urged immediate action to either reduce or suspend the $0.329 state gas tax until fuel prices begin to stabilize.

Ridgewood Nj, electric power outages in sections of the Village’s west side may have been related to a downed tree in the 300 block of Godwin Avenue that took out two (2) utility poles when it fell early Saturday afternoon, 03/12. No motor vehicles were hit when the tree fell, nor were any personal injuries reported. Godwin Avenue was closed in both directions from Melrose Place to West End/South Murray Avenues as of 1300 hours. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel and vehicles responded to the incident.

Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey lawmakers are considering letting the state’s residents pump their own gas for the first time in decades – except hardly anyone actually wants to.
Some 73% of Jersey residents said they still want someone to pump their gas for them, according to a new Rutgers-Eagleton poll released Thursday. Just 22% of respondents said they’d rather pump their own.
Legislation introduced last week would give gas stations the option to offer self-service pumps, the first time since the 1940s that locals would have that choice. (New Jersey remains one of only two states to keep people from filling their own tanks.)

Social Security scams – where fraudsters attempt to mislead victims into making cash or gift card payments to fix purported Social Security number problems or to avoid arrest – are an ongoing government imposter fraud scheme. For several years, Social Security impersonation scams have been one of the most common government imposter scams reported to the Federal Trade Commission. Social Security has made concerted efforts to address this issue, and extensive outreach and investigative efforts are having a positive impact, decreasing scam reports to OIG by more than 20 percent since 2020.
