Ridgewood NJ, The two major events on Memorial day in the Village of Ridgewood are the Fred D’Elia Ridgewood Run at Veteran’s Memorial Field, Monday at 8 a.m. and the American Legion Post 53 will host a service at Memorial Park Monday at 11 a.m. in Van Neste Square on East Ridgewood Avenue.
Don’t you find it quite odd that the on-line Village “Community Calendar” has no information contained within about Memorial Day Services, nor The Ridgewood Run, nor Michael Feeney’s Greatest Day Ever, nor the upcoming Taste of Ridgewood? Is someone asleep at the switch over there in Village Hall, or does the outgoing administration just in “we don’t give a damn” mode now?
Ridgewood NJ, The CRR vs. PB and Valley complaint reads like a Shakespearean tragedy (or comedy), brought about by Valley’s scorched earth tactics and Gail Price’s hubris. How so?
First, during those “Whispering Woods” hearings, Valley attack dog/super lawyer Jon Drill sends an oh-so polished legal brief to the Board demanding Wendy Dockray be recused for being on Jeff Voigt’s campaign team. What a smarty pants Jon must have thought he was. But OOPS, wait a minute Jon, guess you didn’t know that Valley’s second favorite attorney, Ms Gail Price, is married to candidate Richard Brooks? (Hurrah for women who retain their maiden names.) You didn’t see that one coming, did ya? And as a good attorney like Jon knows, the ethics rules that govern lay people (like Dockray) go QUADRUPLE for attorneys. It’s called the “appearance of impropriety” standard, meaning CRR doesn’t need to prove there will be a new “Price-Brooks” wing at Valley; there just needs to be the potential for some stank. But to make it ACTUALLY stanky, when confronted with the conflict allegation in public, Gail still refused to step down as PB attorney and went straight to Facebook and threatened anyone in Ridgewood with “libel” for mentioning that she and Rich are married.
Gail hurdled “impropriety” and went straight to the “F–k you all, I know what’s best for Ridgewood” standard. That’s why I’m betting we say bye-bye to that mediated settlement, and perhaps to Gail as well. And as for Drill, though he can’t unhoist himself from that petard, I’m thinking Queen Audrey will give him a reprieve because she didn’t know Price and Brooks were married either.
Ridgewood NJ, Personnel from the Village of Ridgewood’s Parks Department Shade Tree Division work to remove a large limb that fell at 7:00 AM on Thursday, 05/26 and blocked the intersection of West End Avenue and Grandview Circle. A RIdgewood PD patrol officer had cordoned off the roadway with caution tape prior to the arrival of tree workers.
Ridgewood NJ, hashtag #RockOneSock RPD is rocking one sock for the Rock One Sock Challenge: Post a “footsie” wearing one sock as a symbol of hope for our nation’s missing children and challenge three others to do the same! #RockoneSock this May in honor of National Missing Children’s Month.
Missing children’s issues do not affect every household, but we wanted to give the average person a chance to show that they stand in solidarity with missing children and their families. Our goal is to take something tangible and make a viral phenomenon that bringshope and inspiration to National Missing Children’s Day (May 25, 2016). During the month of May, we’re asking everyone to wear one sock, take a “footsie” (a picture or video of your feet with one sock) and post it to social media using the hashtag #RockOneSock. Ridgewood NJ ,Ridgewood Emergency Services recently became one of the first EMS providers in New Jersey to participate in a pilot trial of Twiage, a novel prehospital communication and ambulance triage system that accelerates life-saving emergency care. The trial sponsored by Valley Hospital, will utilize Twiage’s smartphone platform aimed to streamline and accelerate the care of patients with medical emergencies upon arrival at the hospital. “Believe it or not, we are in the 21 st Century, but radios are still the current standard of communication between ambulances and the emergency room. Nurses have to step away from patient care to take incoming ambulance calls without knowing which ambulance calls carry patients with critical conditions, ” said John Hui, Executive Vice President of Twiage.
Ridgewood EMTs can use Twiage’s secured smartphone app to capture patient vital signs and demographic information via photos and videos, so hospital emergency departments can improve preparedness for incoming patients. Designed to reduce reliance on antiquated radio communication, Twiage is a HIPAA-compliant system that delivers real-time situational awareness of incoming ambulances to busy emergency departments by providing live patient data and GPS-tracked ETA for all incoming ambulances.
Valley Hospital is one of the early pioneers in the country to launch Twiage. The care of nearly 150 patients to Valley Hospital has been coordinated over the Twiage platform in just 2 months. Ridgewood EMS Captain Murray Yang said, “I believe this program can be of great benefit to achieve our duties as Emergency Medical Technicians. Every second matters in achieving apositive outcome for a patient who's in need of emergency medical care. Twiage can reduce our patient turnover time to definitive care by 5 to 10 minutes. In turn, this application will fortify our objective as an organization, the commitment of the 100+ volunteers, who have, and will continue to provide the upmost quality of emergency medical care for the residents of the Village of Ridgewood and its visitors." Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT will kick off the Memorial Day weekend with “early getaway” rail and bus service on Friday, May 27, for the benefit of customers leaving work early. To help speed the getaway, customers are reminded that they can enjoy the convenience of purchasing tickets through the MyTix feature of the NJ TRANSIT mobile app. Besides giving customers a jump on the unofficial start of summer, NJ TRANSIT is making it easy and affordable to get to fun in the sun around the state with a variety of discounted packages.
On Friday, May 27:
Extra outbound trains will operate on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex, and Port Jervis lines starting at approximately 1 p.m.
One outbound Pascack Valley train (#9653, leaving Hoboken at 2:51 p.m.) will extend its existing service to terminate in Spring Valley.
Extra buses will operate from the Port Authority Bus Terminal on more than two dozen bus routes starting around noon. Visit njtransit.com for details.

Weekend shuttle service resumes between Toms River and Seaside Park on bus route no. 137. The bus leaves Toms River at 11:25 a.m. with the return departure from Seaside Park at 6:25 p.m. This service runs every weekend and holiday through the end of June, when direct service resumes from New York on bus route no. 137 and Newark bus route no. 67. All light rail systems will operate on regular Saturday/Sunday or Weekend schedules.
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 30:
Trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule on all lines.

Beach Packages: Save up to $5.00 on admission to one of five beaches— Long Branch, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach and Belmar—by purchasing round-trip train fare and a discounted beach pass for one price at NJ TRANSIT ticket vending machines (choose “Beach/Monmouth Park Packages” and select “Beach Package”) or at ticket windows. Customers can purchase the package at all NJ TRANSIT rail stations, excluding stations on the Atlantic City Rail Line. Beach Packages go on sale on the following four Fridays: May 27, June 3, 10 and 17 at 7 a.m. and are valid throughout the weekend and on holidays. Six Flags Great Adventure and Safari or Hurricane Harbor: Save up to $30 by purchasing round-trip bus transportation and park admission together. NJ TRANSIT provides express bus service to Six Flags from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York and Newark Penn Station.
Monmouth Park: Board a train anywhere on NJ TRANSIT’s rail system, excluding Atlantic City Rail Line stations, and save $5.50 when you travel to Monmouth Park Racetrack. Every weekend, families riding NJ TRANSIT can save with the Family SuperSaver Fare, which allows two children 11 and younger to travel free with each fare-paying adult. For the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the program will be extended and in effect from 7 p.m. Friday, May 27 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 31.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog has learned the residents were not the only people to have conflict with soon to be former council women Gwenn Hauck.
A recent OPRA request reveled that the councilwomen also butted heads with the Ridgewood police department over police officers entering her home to hand deliver “council mail packets”.
Chief Ward apologized for the misunderstanding and explained that past incidence with council mail packets not being received by council members has required hand delivery. Officers only entered the home after receiving no response and hearing noise in the home.

Ridgewood NJ, the Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus has volunteered to be a part of Ridgewood’s Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, Memorial Day. It is our civic duty and our privilege to give our time, talents, end efforts to support the Village’s remembrance of our war dead.
Thanks to Mayor Paul Aronsohn, and Memorial Day Committee chair Bob Paoli, we will be singing Battle Hymn of the Republic, In Flanders Fields, and vocal accompaniment to an Armed Forces Medley performed by the Ridgewood High School Wind Ensemble.
The ceremony starts at 11:00 am and should conclude at noon.

Ridgewood NJ, The Valley Hospital Emergency Services has been recognized with the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks.
“EMTs and paramedics play a vital part in the system of care for those who have heart attacks,” said James Jollis, M.D., Chair of the Mission: Lifeline Advisory Working Group. “Since they often are the first medical point of contact, they can shave precious minutes of life-saving treatment time by activating the emergency response system that alerts hospitals. We applaud The Valley Hospital for achieving this award that shows it meets evidence-based guidelines in the treatment of people who have severe heart attacks.”
