Ridgewood NJ, according to sources the Planning Board Meeting went well. The Digital Billboard was last on the agenda so the Planning Board only heard one witness. The Matter was carried until May.
Paramus NJ, four (4) individuals were transported by ambulances to two (2) area hospitals following a multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 southbound in Paramus early Wednesday afternoon, 03/09. A rolled over dump truck involved in the crash spilled gravel over two (2) lanes of the busy highway, a concrete center divider was obliterated, and a crash related fluid spill triggered a response by Hazmat personnel. At least three (3) passenger vehicles were towed from the incident, which at times closed all lanes of Route 17 southbound and northbound. Paramus Police , Paramus Fire Department, Paramus EMS, and the Paramus Rescue squad all had personnel on the ground at the scene. NJDOT also responded with numerous emergency vehicles and personnel.
Ridgewood NJ, truck drivers opposed to vaccine mandates and other coronavirus restrictions rolled through New Jersey this weekend as part of an ongoing group of protests around the country known as the Freedom Convoy . Enthusiastic crowds greeted the convoy as it passed through Bergen County all under the eyes of watchful local police .
Mahwah NJ, In November 2020 New Jersey voters voted ‘yes’ on a ballot referendum which would legalize the recreational sale and use of cannabis for people over 21. Many voters seem to embrace the ideal , but see issues with recreational sale and use of cannabis or weed in reality , particularly the reality of their own town, township , village ,borough or city. Mahwah is one such township.

Waldwick NJ, all units from Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department operating at a multi car collision on Route 17 at Sheridan Avenue . Crews had to extricate two individuals from a Honda that went off the road and over the guardrail and landed on the passenger side. Both victims were removed swiftly and turned over to WALVAC for transport.
Ridgewood NJ, On Saturday February 5th ,the Ridgewood Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 17 south in the area of Starbucks. A Ford fusion was traveling southbound when a piece of ice dislodged from a vehicle that was traveling northbound and flew over the center divider striking the southbound vehicle shattering the windshield. Luckily there were no injuries but this could have been much worse. The unidentified white vehicle continued north without stopping.
Paramus NJ, Paramus Police apprehended an individual who allegedly fled from a crashed stolen vehicle on the roof of an adult day care center two (2) blocks from the southbound Route 17 crash site. The apprehension, which took place late Thursday afternoon, 01/27, followed an intensive search for the vehicle, which was reportedly stolen in Elmwood Park earlier in the day. A Paramus Fire Department tower ladder facilitated the removal of police officers and the detainee from the roof. Three (3) other occupants of the vehicle also fled the crash site, and two (2) remained at large late in the day after one (1) was nabbed by Paramus Police in the parking lot of a nearby supermarket. An unoccupied passenger car left running in a parking lot of a school near the crash site was stolen shortly after the individuals were seen fleeing. Additionally, an attempted car jacking was reported in neighboring Oradell within an hour after the incident on Route 17 unfolded. The crash on Route 17 involved six (6) vehicles; one (1) minor crash related injury was reported.
Ridgewood NJ, With traffic congestion costing U.S. drivers an average of 36 hours and $564 during 2021, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2022’s Best & Worst States to Drive in, New Jersey surprisingly did not do as poorly as expected . We all noticed the increasing congestion and massive traffic backup’s on Route 4 and Route 17 . New Jersey placed 38 overall with a score of 53.75 . We ranked 36th in cost of ownership, 48th Traffic & Infrastructure and amazingly ,ranked 4th in safety.
Paramus NJ, with the opening of The Valley Hospital in Paramus scheduled for the end of 2023, The Valley Hospital Foundation has announced a $125 million fundraising campaign, Serve. Care. Transform. The Next Chapter of The Valley Hospital, in support of the project. The Foundation also announced that Vincent Forlenza, Chairman, Valley Health System Board of Trustees; Carol Gillespie; and Michael A. Ietta, M.D., Bergen Anesthesia Group; will serve as Campaign Co-Chairs.
Ridgewood NJ, a group of residents on the east side of Ridgewood have organized a petition to protest the clear cutting of over 250 trees. According to the group the condominium community located at Carriage Lane in Ridgewood had a buffer requirement as part of its landscaping plan .
Paramus NJ, late afternoon/early evening northbound traffic on Route 17 in Paramus was significantly slowed on Monday, 03/29, because of a three (3) vehicle, hit & run crash near the Linwood Avenue exit. The adult male driver of a small white colored pick up truck sustained minor injuries and transported by a Paramus EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. The occupants of a dark colored Audi 4-door sedan appeared uninjured and were able to drive their vehicle away on its own power. Paramus Police was reportedly searching for a blue SUV with heavy front end damage that fled the scene. The damaged pick up was removed from the highway by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police assisted with traffic control.
Ridgewood NJ, the aerial photo is of Route 17 in the 1950’s (?) of the traffic circles on Route 17 one on Racetrack road on what is now the overpass that bridges from East Saddle River Road to Paramus Road . The traffic circles on 17 were notoriously dangerous and during the 60’s and 70’s several people were run over crossing Route 17 in the area. The larger circle near Glen Ave had a house in the middle ,but was removed when the ,overpass was built in 1963(?). During a huge flood in 1972 the river changed its course and was later widened to cut down on the flooding and Ridgewood Water built the large water tank.
