In response, the department is implementing a new “zero-tolerance” policy to address the issue, warning residents that they will face severe consequences for non-compliance.

Westwood NJ, at approximately 11:07 AM The Washington Township Police Department responded to the Westwood High School for a reported lockdown. Township Police arrived and entered the structure. Within moments, surrounding agencies arrived on scene to assist.

Hillsdale NJ, on Sunday, February 18th, 2024, at approximately 4:20 pm, Hillsdale Police Officers Marro #89 and Bruce #92 responded to the area of Hillsdale Avenue and Broadway for a male party, later identified as Daniel Margulies, who fled from the Walgreens in our jurisdiction with stolen goods. Both officers made initial contact with MARGULIES at the Hillsdale train station, but upon attempting to detain MARGULIES, MARGULIES fled from the officers.

Twp. of Washington NJ, Twp of Washington suffered intermittent power failures after a pole cracked during Monday afternoons thunderstorm activity . Washington Township Police warned residents Ridgewood Road will be detoured until further notice at Beech and President for a utility pole that cracked in half. PSE&G is on the scene and no injuries were reported .

Twp.of Washington NJ, on Monday 1/30, Tuesday 1/31 and Wednesday 2/1 construction crews will be conducting work, installing the new traffic signals at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Pascack Road. Lane and/or road closures are subject to change every few hours as the work moves from one corner to the next. Work will be conducted from the hours of 7:00am until approximately 4:00pm. Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with a Monday afternoon, 11/21, two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of East Glen Avenue and Van Emburgh Avenue, Ridgewood, in which the driver of a 4-door Toyota Camry sedan involved in the crash had to be extricated from her vehicle by Ridgewood firefighters. The victim was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus with non life threatening injuries. A flatbed tow truck removed the damaged Camry from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Washington Township Police assisted with traffic control.

Twp of Washington NJ, on Friday afternoon the Westwood fire department was dispatched mutual aid to Washington Township for a working house fire. Truck 1 was the first due truck company, due to Township still being trained on their new ladder truck. Truck 1 took the front of the structure and went right to work with 2 crews. While the first crew went up to the second floor to start opening up the ceiling the second crew laddered the building for multiple escape routes in case of an emergency. The interior crews made a good stop in the attic so the fire could not spread further into the house. Also on scene was Engine 1 and Utility 1 with manpower. Good job by all crews and good job to Twp of Washington Fire Dept. . – Bergen County with a quick knock on the main body of fire. Pascack Road was closed in both directions (in front of Memorial Field) .

Twp of Washington NJ, Washington Township Police were informed by the contractor the project, the road work at the Intersection of Pascack Road and Washington Avenue will be delayed this week and most likely next week until the rest of the drainage pipe is delivered.

Twp of Washington NJ, Washington Township Police report another bear sighting not far from the Glen School area of Ridgewood : Please be advised a Black Bear was spotted roaming on Howard Street earlier this morning. He was most recently spotted strolling down Ridgewood Road, just east of Westwood High School.

Twp. of Washington NJ, the driver of a Toyota Highlander was injured during a Friday morning, 05/06, rollover crash in the 1900 block of East Glen Avenue in Washington Township. The Toyota hit a utility pole just prior to flipping on its left side, damaging a back up battery installation owned by a local cable TV/internet provider. The vehicle’s driver sustained a non-life threatening injury, and was taken by a Washington Township ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Washington Township Police, Washington Township Fire Department, and Paramus Fire Engine Company #3 personnel and equipment also responded to the incident. The rolled over Toyota was righted by a flatbed tow truck and removed from the scene. A PSE&G troubleshooter determined that the utility pole had not been compromised by the hit.
