Wayne NJ, “grandparent bail scam.” strikes again , two men from New York are facing charges and accused of scamming a couple in Wayne Township. Police say 18-year-old Ernis Nusevic, of Yonkers, and 26-year-old Lenny Gomez, of the Bronx, were charged with conspiracy and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception.

Mahwah NJ, a tri-axle dump truck towing a trailer loaded with three (3) heavy pieces of paving equipment, crashed on Route 287 northbound in Mahwah late Wednesday afternoon, 11/30. The truck, trailer, and one (1) piece of equipment careened off of the roadway and down a steep embankment. The remaining two (2) pieces of paving equipment dislodged from the trailer and landed in the traveled portion of Route 287 northbound, just south of Darlington Avenue in Ramsey. One (1) individual was seriously injured in the crash; paramedics were dispatched to assist Mahwah EMS personnel with the victim’s care. Route 287 northbound was closed in Franklin Lakes to facilitate roadway clean up and removal of all damaged equipment/vehicles.

Hasbrouck Heights NJ, according to Hasbrouck Heights Police a woman had to be extricated from her car and taken to the hospital after a four-vehicle crash that snarled traffic on Route 17 North for about an hour Monday. The chain-reaction crash was set off when a Belleville motorist driving a Ford F-550 rear-ended a Toyota Prius, driven by the woman, that was stopped in traffic. The woman was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.The crash occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Route 17 just before Franklin Avenue, police said. The road was reopened approximately an hour after the crash.

Some tips for preventing these kinds of theft include: choose in store pickup, bring your packages inside as soon as possible, have a visible security camera and/or video doorbell. If you see someone actively stealing a package… DO NOT confront them. Call police, while obtaining as much of a description as possible including clothing they’re wearing, make/model/color of vehicle they’re using, direction they headed after the theft. Englewood NJ, Englewood Police attempted to pull over a vehicle at 2:50am on Monday , the driver Joshua Alcantara, 30, sped away in a stolen Audi. Alcantara attempted to flee using the Palisades Parkway where he crashed the car and was picked up after he attempted to run by Palisades Interstate Parkway police. According to officials Alcantara who lives in Newark is suspected of committing several Belleville burglaries that include ATM theft. The Audi he was driving was stolen out of Lyndhurst.

Waldwick NJ, Representatives from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation were observed collecting physical and photographic evidence from the scene of an incident on Grove Street, Waldwick in which a parked, unoccupied Lexus SUV was riddled with bullets during the early morning hours of Wednesday, 11/30. No injuries were reported in the incident. Following their on scene collection of evidence, the vehicle was towed to a Sheriff’s Office location in Hackensack for further inspection. Police have not yet revealed what may have motivated the currently unknown shooter(s) to take aim at the late model Lexus SUV. Several area residents are reported to have heard the gunshots and provided investigators with doorbell video footage of individuals/vehicles traveling on streets near the shooting just prior to, and after it took place.

Mahwah NJ, more delays impact the installation of a permanent cell tower off Rozanski Lane, in Mahwah. Township Administrator Benjamin Kezmarsky said Tuesday , “It will be another eight weeks before construction starts due to material availability,” Kezmarsky said. “And this is subject to change based on weather and material lead time.”
