Princeton-based Venture Capital firm SOSV to establish the U.S. Headquarters for Tech Startup Program in Newark

Newark NJ,  the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and Princeton-based venture capital firm SOSV intend to form a new entity (HAX LLC) to bring SOSV’s acclaimed HAX hard tech startup development program to Newark.  SOSV will also establish the U.S. headquarters of the HAX program at the Newark site.  HAX provides complete support for emerging companies, including a $250,000 initial investment in each participating company, 180 days of hands-on collaboration, and a global founder community for early stage founders building hard tech startups. Newark was selected as the location for the new HAX program site and the U.S. HAX headquarters through a competitive search that compared locations across the country.

Swastika Graffiti Discovered at Glen Rock High School on the Eve of Yom Kippur

Glen Rock NJ, on the eve of Yom Kippur a Swastika graffiti was discovered  on a desk at Glen Rock High School  prompting an outcry of concern from local officials . School officials said the swastika was found “etched” onto a desk at the high school on Wednesday morning, and the desk was promptly removed from the classroom and a police report has been filed.

Fair Lawn NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor office said on Friday that a Fair Lawn High School graphic arts teacher and resident was arrested on accusations she engaged in a “sexual relationship” with a student. Christine Knudsen, 44, was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday, after the New Jersey Department of Children and Families was told she had engaged in “sexual activity” with a student at her school.

Ridgewood Board Of Education Discusses Goals For The Upcoming School Year

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Board of Education had a robust discussion on Monday, Sept 13th regarding district goals for this school year. The Board agreed to focus on data-driven goals relative to mental health, DEI  (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ), communication, and student achievement. The discussion can be found in the BOE meeting video starting at 1:08:58 (one hour, eight minutes, and 58 seconds). The presentation ensued from a presentation by an external consultant.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police Department has been experiencing unprecedented difficulty in hiring crossing guards for this school year, similar to the problem all other businesses are currently facing. Due to this shortage, we have needed to reallocate staffing in order to prioritize posts to those where the students have the most interaction with vehicles, such as on heavily traveled roadways. We are continuing to work diligently on hiring more crossing guards and hope to rectify this situation as soon as possible with the goal of returning to normal operations within a few weeks. As always, the Ridgewood Police Department’s primary concern is the safety of all of our residents and visitors, especially our children. Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of County Commissioners continue to urge residents and business owners impacted by Hurricane Ida to apply for Federal disaster relief. Starting tomorrow, FEMA will deploy Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams to municipalities across Bergen County to answer questions, assist with registration for FEMA Individual Assistance, and conduct inquiries on the status of existing applications. This support is supplemental to the Bergen County Disaster Recovery Center at the Bergen Community College Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack. Bergen County residents sustaining damage from Hurricane Ida are eligible to seek assistance at any of the following sites below:
