Trenton NJ, after a thorough review of fuel consumption statistics and consultation with the Legislative Budget and Finance Officer, the Department of the Treasury announced today that New Jersey’s gas tax rate will increase by 0.9 cents per gallon beginning October 1 to comport with the 2016 law that requires a steady stream of revenue to support the State’s Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) program.

Ridgewood NJ, Ford is recalling nearly 42,000 F-250 and F-350 trucks over an issue with the left rear axle shafts that could increase the risk of crashes. The recall says if one of those shafts breaks, it could cause “vehicle rollway when the vehicle is placed in park,” and an increased risk of an accident. The recall covers certain 2023 model year trucks, and Ford is sending letters to owners who are impacted.

Glen Rock NJ, The driver of an older model Volkswagen Jetta was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center after sustaining injuries in a Thursday afternoon, 08/31, collision on Route 208 northbound at Harristown Road, Glen Rock. The demolished vehicle was towed from the scene. Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock EMS responded to the incident.

Fort Lee NJ, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today announced that its three major airports continued their record-setting pace through the first seven months of the year, surpassing 2019 numbers. The agency also reported that the seaport was the nation’s busiest for the month of July, handling its highest total of TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) since October 2022. The agency also released monthly and year-to-date facility volumes at the agency’s airports, bridges and tunnels, PATH commuter rail and seaport.

Fair Lawn NJ ,a New Jersey Transit train struck and killed a pedestrian in Fair Lawn on Thursday evening. According to a NJ Transit spokesperson , Bergen County Line train 1171 out of Hoboken hit the pedestrian just west of the Radburn Station in the borough at around 6:52 p.m.
