Ridgewood NJ, Several Ridgewood Police officers escorted the Village’s 2020 Christmas Tree to the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Broad Street on Saturday morning, November 21st.. Officers also provided traffic control while workers from Downes Tree Service removed the tree from a flatbed trailer and erected it.

Glen Rock NJ, the Glen Rock Police report that at 11:53 a.m. on Thursday November 12th , patrols were dispatched to the Rock Road Central Business District to investigate a report of a man sitting on a bench bleeding. The victim, a 93-year-old Ridgewood man, stated he was walking on the sidewalk when a dog ran out from a lobby door leading to second floor apartments. The dog then lunged at the man and bit his left wrist. The victim was treated on scene by EMT’s and refused further medical attention. Officers were able to identify the dog and its owner. The matter has been referred to TYCO Animal Control. Incidents of this nature are investigated by Animal Control in cooperation with Bergen County Health Services.

NJ Governor Phil Murphy is afraid of showing the public what criteria he uses for restrictions; prolonging the state recession; creating unemployment; for violating his own restrictions multiple times; the havoc of the mail-in election he mandated; mismanagement of multiple state agencies; anger over his tax hikes; and of the result of investigations into the deaths (in long term care facilities) of the roughly half of the states Covid fatalities. Ridgewood NJ, Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in Ridgewood and throughout New Jersey, the Village administration has closed all Village offices to the public officially at the end of business, November 20th. All Village employees will continue working; the staff at the Stable will be available Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30 (with the exception of Thursday and Friday, November 26 & 27). We will still be conducting business as usual and will make accommodations for residents who need to visit in person. In the event you need to drop off/pick up something, feel free to leave it in our mailbox and call us to come outside and gather it or knock on our side door.

Trenton NJ, The Department of the Treasury reported that October revenue collections for the major taxes totaled $2.501 billion, down $137.4 million, or 5.2 percent below last October. Fiscal year-to-date, total collections of $8.108 billion are down $673.1 million, or 7.7 percent below the same four months last year.

University of Oxford , The ChAdOx1 nCov-2019 coronavirus vaccine, developed by teams at the University of Oxford, has been shown to trigger a robust immune response in healthy adults aged 56-69 and those over 70 years of age. The data, published today in The Lancet, suggest that one of the groups most vulnerable to serious illness, and death from COVID-19, could build immunity.
British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, which is working in collaboration with the University of Oxford, has previously said interim data showed their experimental vaccine had produced an immune response in older and younger adults.
Older adults have been shown to be at higher risk from COVID-19 and should be considered to be a priority for immunisation should any effective vaccine be developed for the disease. Reporting on data from a Phase II trial of the ChAdOx1 nCov-2019 vaccine, the authors write that volunteers in the trial demonstrate similar neutralising antibody titres, and T cell responses across all three age groups (18-55, 56-79, and 70+).

Grewal announced today that the State has intervened in a whistleblower lawsuit against Academy Bus, LLC (Academy), which advertises itself as the nation’s largest private transportation company, as well as related entities and individuals. The Attorney General’s complaint alleges the defendants defrauded New Jersey Transit (NJT) out of more than $15 million by vastly underreporting the number of scheduled bus trips that the company missed and charging fees for hours and miles driven for bus trips that never happened.

NEW YORK & MAINZ, Germany, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) and BioNTech SE (Nasdaq: BNTX) today announced that, after conducting the final efficacy analysis in their ongoing Phase 3 study, their mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine candidate, BNT162b2, met all of the study’s primary efficacy endpoints. Analysis of the data indicates a vaccine efficacy rate of 95% (p<0.0001) in participants without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection (first primary objective) and also in participants with and without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection (second primary objective), in each case measured from 7 days after the second dose. The first primary objective analysis is based on 170 cases of COVID-19, as specified in the study protocol, of which 162 cases of COVID-19 were observed in the placebo group versus 8 cases in the BNT162b2 group. Efficacy was consistent across age, gender, race and ethnicity demographics. The observed efficacy in adults over 65 years of age was over 94%.
