Ridgewood NJ, a reader has been making the rounds in the Village of Ridgewood and pointing out , blind turns , dangerous intersections, bad signage and roads in need of repair . The ATM machine on the front side of the TD Bank facing Franklin Avenue puts bank customers in a blind spot unable to see vehicles exiting the bank’s drive through window and motorists can not see the customer exiting the ATM machine . This safety issue could be easily remedied by adding a fence on the left side of the ATM blocking the egress to the driveway so the ATM customer does not inadvertently walk into an on coming car exiting the drive through window.

Ridgewood NJ, Bird flu is driving egg prices higher and the egg shortage has people scrambling . Nationally, the poultry industry lost around 36 million hens from February through September from the avian flu. Both demand and retail prices are higher than in previous years because of inflation, said Egg-News.com. Unseasonably high prices are expected to continue through fall and decline as flocks are restocked.

Ridgewood NJ, on Wednesday the Producer Price Index for final demand advanced 8.5 percent for the 12 months ended in September.
With the midterm elections now less than a month away, inflation is still the issue voters are most concerned about. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 89% of Likely U.S. voters are concerned about inflation, including 64% who are Very Concerned. Just 11% aren’t concerned about the issue. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters responded to a reported garbage truck fire in the 100 block of California Street, Ridgewood on Tuesday, 10/11. The fire had self- extinguished prior to the arrival of fire department personnel. However, concerned about a possible rekindle of dumped truck contents, the incident commander retained all units at the scene until a front end loader arrived to remove the dumped material from the street. No injuries were reported in the incident. Ridgewood Police officers provided traffic control during the incident.

Ridgewood NJ, in an October 10th article in the “Tap into Ridgewood” titled , “Meet the Candidates for Ridgewood Village Council” candidate Evan Weitz stated , “It is critically important that we bring back the pedestrian plaza and clean up our downtown, to retain that vibrance. It is also equally important that we protect that same character that my family and I fell in love with by preventing over development of our community. Any proposed development in Ridgewood must be carefully measured against the community’s needs and preserving why so many of us moved here in the first place.” Is this the same Evan Weitz that was supported by developer John Saraceno in 2016 and backed by high density proponent Rurik Halaby. Was not Mr. Weitz a member and Chair of the infamous “Financial Advisory Committee” or Tiger Team that rubber stamped all former Mayor Paul Aronsohn’s ill planned high density projects , leaving the Village short on water, parking, police, fire, sewage, road infrastructure and don’t forget the schools? The same Financial Advisory Committee populated by puppets of Mayor Aronsohn with no financial background or expertise what so ever . Could this be the same Even Weitz who donated to the Paul Vagianos’ “build more parking garages” campaign for Village Council ?

Ridgewood NJ, Todd Caliguire GOP candidate for Bergen County Executive made the rounds at the Ridgewood Guild’s Oktoberfest festivities .
Caliguire said in a Facebook post Octoberfest was great! Wonderful to talk with so many residents. The Caliguire team of Dr. Doug Holden for Bergen County Commissioner, Ronald Lin for Bergen County Commissioner and Dierdre Paul Republicans for Responsible Government made the rounds . No word on whether they went on a hayride?

Teenagers of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church parish get together for the youth group’s “Open Center”. Teens enjoy ping pong, pool, air hockey, foosball or just hang out and talk with each other. Then we gather together for Shared Prayer. All high school teens are welcome !

Ridgewood NJ, all Village offices will be closed on Monday, October 10th, in observance of the Columbus Day holiday. There will be no garbage or recycling pick up on this day and the Recycling Center will also be closed.
