Rochelle Park  NJ, A rollover crash involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle resulted in the temporary closure of all northbound lanes on Route 17 at the Passaic Street exit in Rochelle Park on Friday morning, 09/07. At least one (1) person was reportedly ejected from the passenger car and transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus.

Falling Tree Branch Takes Out SUV on Route 208 in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, A large tree limb fell onto a Mercedes Benz SUV that had just exited Route 208 northbound in Glen Rock on Sunday afternoon, 07/22. The vehicle’s adult male driver sustained a non life threatening head injury and was transported by a Glen Rock EMS ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Glen Rock EMTs with patient evaluation. The driver was the only occupant in the Mercedes when the tree limb hit it. Glen Rock Police Department and Glen Rock Fire Department also responded to the incident. A flatbed tow truck was summoned to remove the wreck.

Ridgewood NJ, A apparent medical episode experienced by an adult female driver from Pennsylvania caused a two (2) vehicle collision in front of 522 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood on Wednesday afternoon, 07/18. Following impact, both vehicles were catapulted off of the roadway onto nearby front lawns. One (1) driver was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. No other injuries were reported. A flatbed tow truck removed both wrecks from the scene. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood EMS, and Ho-Ho-Kus Police responded to the incident. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Ridgewood EMTs.

Paramus NJ, A Tuesday morning, 07/17, motor vehicle collision involving two (2) vehicles at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road, Paramus required the services of Paramus Rescue Squad’s “Jaws of Life” to free the driver of a 4-door sedan who was trapped in her vehicle post crash impact. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS also responded to the incident. Paramus EMS ambulances transported two (2) crash victims to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. Both vehicles, the sedan and an SUV, were removed by flatbed tow trucks.

Englewood NJ, The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department are requesting information from the public regarding a hit and run collision which resulted in a pedestrian sustaining serious injuries.

At approximately 10:50 pm on Monday, June 11, 2018, the Englewood Police Department received a report of a pedestrian lying in the roadway on Knickerbocker Road near the intersection of Bilmar Place. Upon arrival at the scene of the collision, officers observed a juvenile male victim lying in the roadway with serious injuries. The victim’s injuries were consistent with having been struck by a motor vehicle. He was treated at the scene and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he in being treated for multiple serious injuries.

The ensuing investigation indicates that the striking vehicle is a 2001-2004 Audi A6, dark in color. The vehicle will have obvious front-end damage, including a broken grille, and possible damage to the bumper, hood, and windshield. The striking vehicle fled the scene traveling northbound on Knickerbocker Road towards Tenafly.

Oradell NJ, A pedestrian trespasser was fatally struck by a NJ Transit Pascack Valley Line train just south of New Milford Avenue in Oradell on Wednesday evening, 06/20. The train, carrying dozens of passengers, was traveling from Hoboken to Spring Valley, NY. No injuries to any passengers of members of the train crew were reported. Passengers on board when the incident occurred were taken to their final destinations by NJ Transit buses. NJ Transit Police, Oradell Police, and New Milford Police officers were observed at the scene. Oradell Fire Department and a paramedic unit from Hackensack University Medical Center also responded to the scene.

Westwood NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of TROY C. JONES (DOB: 09/23/1945; married; and employed as a bookkeeper) of 84 Westwood Boulevard, Westwood, NJ on charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Michael Saudino, and the Westwood Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Pontillo.
On June 5, 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information from the Westwood Police Department that two female victims were attacked inside the residence of 84 Westwood Boulevard in Westwood.
An investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Westwood Police Department revealed that Troy C. JONES had physically assaulted one female victim and inflicted multiple stab wounds to another. Both victims were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious injuries.
Troy C. JONES was charged with two counts each of Attempted Murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1A(1), a crime of the 1st degree; Aggravated Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(1), a crime of the 2nd degree; Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(2), a crime of the 3rd degree; and Possession Of A Weapon For Unlawful Purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4D, a crime of the 3rd degree. JONES is in the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ. 2
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Westwood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.

Paramus NJ, An adult male bicyclist was struck by an SUV and seriously injured Thursday afternoon, 05/24, on Paramus Road just south of West Midland Avenue in Paramus. The victim, who was knocked off of this bike and thrown against the SUV’s windshield, was rushed by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. The visibly distraught driver of the SUV remained on the scene and was also transported by ambulance to an undisclosed hospital. A flatbed tow truck lifted the SUV off of the damaged bicycle and removed the vehicle from the scene. Paramus Police and EMS, responded along with an ambulance from Hackensack University Medical Center, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital. Police at the scene were observed interviewing several witnesses to the incident, including an individual who was waiting for a bus at a nearby bus stop.

Paramus NJ, Traffic on Route 17 northbound in Paramus was slowed to a crawl on Tuesday night, 03/20, after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and rolled on its side just north of Ridgewood Avenue. The right and center travel lanes of the highway were temporarily shut while emergency crews worked. Two (2) of the vehicle’s occupants were injured; one (1) was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus; the other occupant refused medical attention. A dog traveling in the vehicle was also slightly injured; arrangements were being made at the scene to transport it to a nearby veterinary clinic. Paramus Police, EMS, FD, and OEM personnel responded to the incident. Tow truck personnel were standing by at the scene to remove the wrecked vehicle but were unable to do so until PSE&G Electric Division workers stabilized the downed utility pole and dangling wires.

Glen Rock NJ, The driver of a dark colored SUV was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Center’s main campus following a Harristown Road, Glen Rock crash on Sunday evening, 03/04. The vehicle slammed head on into a utility pole near 371 Harristown Road. Glen Rock Police and EMS personnel responded to aid the victim. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Glen Rock EMTs. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. PSE&G’s electric division was summoned to assess the struck pole’s condition. A significant fluid leak was attended to by the tow truck’s driver.

Paramus NJ, On Sunday, August 27, 2017, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, along with members of the Paramus Police Department, under the direction of Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, under the direction of Sheriff Michael Saudino, investigated a fatal motor vehicle collision in which two passengers of a 2001 Ford Mustang were ejected and killed as the car crashed along Route 4 East, into the Bergen Town Centre parking lot in Paramus, New Jersey.

Officers responded to the Bergen Town Centre parking lot on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at approximately 1:09 a.m., on multiple reports of a serious, roll-over, motor vehicle crash. There, officers found the heavily damaged Ford Mustang. All four occupants of the vehicle had been ejected and were found near the vehicle in the parking lot. One of the victims, a 19 year old female Garfield, New Jersey resident, was dead upon police arrival. The other three victims, two Garfield females, both of whom are believed to be in their early twenties; and a 23 year old Paterson male, were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. After her arrival, one of the Garfield female victims succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The other female remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The Paterson male was treated and released. At this time, the Prosecutor’s Office is not identifying the vehicle occupants, pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no determination has yet been made relative to any potential criminal or motor vehicle charges. Prosecutor Grewal would like to thank members of the Paramus Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this ongoing investigation.

Paramus NJ , Paramus PD, EMS, and FD responded to aid an adult male motorcyclist who was involved in a Thursday afternoon, 08/03, collision on Route 17 southbound near A&S Drive. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) main campus; he was alert and conscious when the Paramus EMS team arrived at the crash site. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital accompanied the ambulance to HUMC.

Bergenfield Man Arrested for Murder and Dismemberment of Girlfriend

Bergenfield NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced today the charges of Murder, Desecration of Human Remains, Hindering Apprehension, Credit Card Fraud and Stalking against RAPHAEL LOLOS (DOB: 10/27/1976; single; and unemployed) of 5 S. Demarest Avenue, Bergenfield, New Jersey, in connection with the death of 31-year-old JENNY LONDONO of Edgewater. The charges were brought as a result of a joint investigation which was conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and New York City Police Department (“NYPD”) under the direction of Police Commissioner James O’Neill.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, partial remains of a female body were discovered floating in the waters off Brooklyn, New York. The remains featured a distinctive Sanskrit tattoo just below the right hip, and were subsequently identified as being those of Jenny LONDONO of Edgewater, New Jersey.

After learning that LONDONO was last seen and heard from while in Bergen County, NYPD detectives contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and began to jointly investigate the circumstances surrounding LONDONO’S disappearance and death. The ensuing investigation revealed that RAPHAEL LOLOS, described by friends as LONDONO’S boyfriend, murdered and dismembered LONDONO in New Jersey then discarded her remains into the Hudson River. In the days following the murder, LOLOS consistently and repeatedly used LONDONO’S credit cards until the time of his arrest on July 6, 2017. RAPHAEL LOLOS was arrested with the assistance of the NYPD, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the Union County Sheriiff’s Office, the Union County SWAT Team, and the Linden Police Department.

After RAPHAEL LOLOS was arrested and brought back to Bergen County, he suffered a medical episode and was initially transported via ambulance to Bergen Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment and was subsequently brought to Hackensack University Medical Center (“HUMC”), where he is receiving medical treatment while in the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office. RAPHAEL LOLO’S first appearance before the Honorable Margaret M. Foti, P.J.Cr., will be scheduled after his discharge from HUMC.

Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The Prosecutor would like to thank the NYPD, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Linden Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.

Ridgewood NJ, Shortly before 9 PM on Monday, 07/03, all on duty Ridgewood PD units were dispatched to a physical altercation taking place inside of the Dim Sum Dynasty Restaurant, 75 Franklin Avenue Ridgewood. The first arriving units quickly located an adult male who was in need of immediate medical attention, having sustained an extremely serious eye injury. The victim was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus with paramedic assistance from The Valley Hospital. One (1) adult male was observed being handcuffed at the scene and placed into the rear of a marked RIdgewood PD unit. Initial reports were that the altercation did not involve any employees of the restaurant, only patrons.
