Newark NJ, the U.S. Marshals Service has conducted a high-impact fugitive apprehension initiative focusing on some of the most violent offenders throughout New Jersey. This enforcement initiative, called Operation “Clean Sweep,” resulted in the arrest of more than 190 fugitives, gang members, sex offenders and violent criminals in the District of New Jersey.

Princeton-based Venture Capital firm SOSV to establish the U.S. Headquarters for Tech Startup Program in Newark

Newark NJ,  the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and Princeton-based venture capital firm SOSV intend to form a new entity (HAX LLC) to bring SOSV’s acclaimed HAX hard tech startup development program to Newark.  SOSV will also establish the U.S. headquarters of the HAX program at the Newark site.  HAX provides complete support for emerging companies, including a $250,000 initial investment in each participating company, 180 days of hands-on collaboration, and a global founder community for early stage founders building hard tech startups. Newark was selected as the location for the new HAX program site and the U.S. HAX headquarters through a competitive search that compared locations across the country.

In December, Governor Phil Murphy joined NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin Corbett, community leaders and municipal, county and state officials to announce this major investment that will breathe new life into the 86-year-old station and it’s surrounding area in the downtown of the State’s largest city.

Newark NJ, NJ Transit Police officers took lifesaving action to aid a stabbing victim. The incident occurred at a commercial establishment outside the system. The injured victim was able to reach Newark Penn Station. At Newark Penn Station, an observant 3rd party alerted patrolling officers. ⁣

Five Defendants Charged With Operating Newark-Based Fencing Ring That Trafficked Stolen High-End Vehicles

Grewal announced that five defendants were indicted today on charges that they conspired to operate a Newark-based stolen auto trafficking ring that fenced stolen luxury vehicles. New Jersey’s Travel Advisory Lifted

Newark NJ, The New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit coordinated a 3-day mobile deployment initiative that led to the arrest last week of 20 fugitives in Essex County, including individuals wanted for violent crimes. Of the 20 people arrested, 12 were identified as street gang members.

“Most Wanted” Fugitive Arrested in Cliffside Park

Cliffside Park NJ, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested one of ICE’s 10 Most Wanted in New Jersey Wednesday, a previously removed, aggravated felon from Guatemala, convicted of child endangerment involving the production of child pornography, with outstanding warrants for a parole violation and failure to register as a sex offender.

NJ Transit Police Rescue Dog Struck by Newark Light Rail

Newark NJ, on Friday an urgent rescue mission unfolded for an injured canine. New Jersey Transit Police officers responded to reports that a dog got onto the Newark Light Rail tracks at Park Ave and was struck and pinned under the light rail vehicle. Responding Patrol, K9, and ESU officers found an injured dog under the train. Together, the officers took great care to remove the cold and injured dog without further trauma. They stabilized the dog and rushed it to an appropriately suited K9 vehicle for its transport to further care. Now this pup has promising potential for a full recovery and a good reminder to keep off the tracks.⁣

Newark NJ, it’s starting to sound like the roaring 20’s with “speakeasies” popping up all over the place.  In Newark two women who served alcohol to over 200 people at an illegal “makeshift bar” in New Jersey were arrested over the weekend. According to Newark’s Department of Public Safety , a 26-year-old Denisse Tinizaray and 28-year-old Katherine Tinizaray were unable to provide paperwork that proved they had a license to sell alcohol at a warehouse on Libella Court where people ate, drank and gambled illegally.

Signs listing the names of black men and women who died at the hands of police lined posters and T-shirts. George Floyd’s name was shouted alongside the chant “I can’t breathe.”
