Paramus NJ, on the late afternoon of August 24, a dramatic head-on collision on Route 17 southbound in Paramus left a white SUV severely damaged but miraculously resulted in no injuries for the driver. The crash occurred just south of West Ridgewood Avenue, near a local appliance store.

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 74-year-old STEPHEN E. SWEET, a church pastor, who resides in Paramus, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated criminal sexual contact and criminal sexual contact. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.
Twp. of Washington NJ, all travel lanes of the Garden State Parkway southbound in Washington Township, Bergen County were closed temporarily on Saturday morning, 04/20, as emergency crews worked to safely remove an individual from a passenger vehicle that had rolled over. Washington Township first responders were assisted at the scene by Paramus Police ESU and Westwood EMS. No information was available as to the victim’s condition. New Jersey State Police Bloomfield Barracks Troopers responded to the incident as well. A flatbed tow truck was standing by to remove the wrecked vehicle.
Paramus NJ, a vehicle allegedly being driven erratically and speeding in Paramus crashed at the intersection of Route 17 northbound and Race Track Road, Ho-Ho-Kus early Monday afternoon, 04/08. The vehicle’s driver was handcuffed by Paramus Police officers and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus by a Ridgewood Fire Department ambulance. Two (2) passengers in the vehicle were initially detained by Paramus Police, but later released after being evaluated by EMTs. Police at the scene would not comment on the nature of their investigation, nor why the driver was handcuffed. Ridgewood Police and Ho-Ho-Kus Police also responded to the incident along with additional ambulances from Paramus and Ho-Ho-Kus. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked BMW SUV from the scene.

On April 5, 2024, after a six-week trial before the Honorable Susan J. Steele, J.S.C. in Bergen County Superior Court, AUGUSTO PEREZ was convicted of aggravated manslaughter and hindering apprehension.

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Paramus Police Department under the direction of Chief Robert M. Guidetti.
Paramus NJ, a motor vehicle fire in the “B” parking lot of Bergen Community College’s main campus destroyed what appeared to have been a Honda CRV SUV, and heavily damaged a 4-door sedan that was parked next to it. The inferno was reported just prior to 11:00 am on Tuesday, 12/19. Firefighters from Paramus Engine Companies #3 and #1 extinguished the stubborn blaze. Technicians from the Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit were called to address a large, fire related fuel spill No injuries were reported in the incident. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
Paramus NJ, The driver of a Ford F150 pickup truck was extricated from his vehicle and transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus following an early Tuesday morning, 11/14, crash on Route 4 eastbound in Paramus, near Paramus Road. No other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the mishap. A flatbed tow truck righted the pickup and removed it from the highway.
Paramus NJ, an early Saturday afternoon, 11/04, structure fire in the 300 block of Willard Road began in a microwave oven, and extended to kitchen cabinets and the home’s roof before Paramus FD firefighters gained complete control of it. An elderly resident of the home was reportedly rescued by a neighbor as the structure filled with smoke. Paramus EMTs evaluated the evacuee on the front lawn of a nearby home; it is uncertain if he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Oradell firefighters assisted Paramus Fire Department at the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, the driver of a while colored Tesla was extricated by Ridgewood Fire Department firefighters after becoming entrapped in the vehicle’s passenger compartment following an early Thursday afternoon, 09/28, rollover crash in the 200 block of Van Emburgh Avenue, Ridgewood. The Tesla slammed into the back of a parked landscape contractor’s truck before rolling over on the driver’s side. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by separate flatbed tow trucks. The driver was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical’s main campus for treatment. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital responded to the crash as did several Ridgewood Police Department units. Paramus Police Department assisted with traffic control.
