Ridgewood NJ, Facebook post from September shows Alexandra Harwin campaigning for Paul (the Wall)  Vagianos another promoter of high density housing and destruction of the Village character.

September 7, 2017

Hi all! I am hoping to do lots of canvassing for the Flip the 40th campaign, but I need someone to watch my kids (ages 3.5 and 1) during canvassing hours, as my husband (a rabbi) works Saturday and Sunday mornings during prime canvassing hours. Would anyone else with kids be interested in combining forces and hiring a babysitter together so we can canvas?

The Flip The 40th Campaign was the name of the campaign to get Paul (the wall) Vagianos elected to state assembly .

Reader says Paul Vagianos (HE) Feels “HE” is above the LAW

itsgreektome2_theridgewoodblog

Paul Vagianos (D) A Democrat running mate for State Assemble in the 40th District that’s who Paul is refereed to in the article….

Paul Vagianos
So this is the type of candidate that wants to run local Government, A individual who can not follow Building dept, Codes, Village Zoning/Planing Codes, Village Ordinances and State laws of set back. HE Feels “HE” is above the LAW.
This is Who has a Mayor and Counsel scared of him! Because of POWER! What about the residence and other Proprietors that are in the Village, they have to follow Zoning/Planing and local building codes! State and county ordinances and set back laws.
I just spoke with the Building inspector Carlos this morning and he stated there was never a permit issued for this wall or nor was there ever any inspections and refereed me to the Zoning/Planing office. I spoke to a nice women who answered the phone, I had asked for the Zoning officer but she stated she could help me she was very knowledgeable about the whole chain of events of this wall. It was a wood wall prior and they removed the wood and built what is there today not sure as to the date, No prior approvals and the Owner was sued by the Village of Ridgewood. They eventually applied to the Planing/Zoning board and was passed by the board (quote from Women in Planing/Zoning dept., I don’t quite know how that was approved).
So there have never been any required permits or inspections and they were never asked to remove the wall. Why is this!
If someone were to be hurt by the wall coming down or a car were to hit it I SEE A MAJOR LAWSUIT HERE, an unsafe non permitted structure!

You be the JUDGE……I see unfair politics at its worst,,,,people afraid of people with power.

Reader asks how can Paul get away with the walls in front of his business

Itsgreektome theridgewoodblog.net

i still ask this question; how can Paul get away with the walls in front of his business, without any permits? How it continues to be a thorn in many residents of town. Plus, I want to erect a wall in front of my house, all my neighbors are in favor of this just to see what the town does!. Pauls wall is over 3 feet high. Did he have a contractor put in footings to hold wall? Do unsuspecting visitors who park along the wall know that it could fall over? Why can’t we have these ugly walls be forced to be taken down?? The answer really is that the prior council ( which loved Paul) and the new council are just plain AFRAID of this business owner. Why?? This is our town, not his town. Get a grip council!
I personally have taken on a mission to do as President Reagan said ” Village of Ridgewood, Take down those walls )

Reader Challenges Candidate Vagianos to Make His Views on “Affordable Housing” Clear

Paul Vagianos

Speaking of the wall, did anyone see the summary of Vagianos’ housing comments as they appeared in the Ridgewood News? I am hoping they were mis-reported, but as I read them, he won’t comment on his view of the multi-family housing debacle in our state because the Courts are dealing with it.

Has he never taken high school civics? Legislators legislate and judges interpret.

If he does not understand his role as a legislator in our tri-partite government, he should drop out of the race now and go back to school for a while.
I would like to hear Vagianous’ view on housing – – as well as the view of all the candidates – – and what legislation they would support or introduce to roll back these court ordered mandates that are threatening to strangle towns like Ridgewood.

We face the prospect of thousands of apartments being forced into our town and surrounding towns. Anyone running for office must have a view – – a firm view – – not a mealy mouthed missive about how they don’t view it as their job to protect the standard of living for which their fellow citizens worked so hard.
This is the single most important issue we face and we need decisive leadership on the issue, not dithering.

Paul Vagianos Launches Assembly Campaign Again

Vagianos Assembly Campaign Launch 2017

Friends

Two years ago I ran for election to the NJ State Assembly in New Jersey’s 40th Legislative District.  With your help and support we came incredibly close to winning an election that many thought could not be won.  Along with my running mate, Christine Ordway, we ran an issues-oriented, solution-based campaign.  As you know, Chris and I are fiscally conservative and socially progressive–watch your money and stay out of people’s personal lives.  As we’ve always said, we are not politicians, we are businesspeople who truly believe that New Jersey can do so much better.  From fiscal reform in Trenton to working with people on both sides of the aisle, there is much work to be done.
We are ready to finish what we started in 2015—This is the year we flip the 40th Legislative District.  On Saturday April 15, 2017 at 10 am, Chris and I, along with our new running mate Tom Duch, will be launching our 2017 Assembly race from what is probably the finest eating establishment in northern New Jersey–It’s Greek to Me in Ridgewood.  It would mean a lot to me if you could join us as we begin our journey.
I hope to see you there.
Paul

Village of Ridgewood : Van Neste Memorial Park "Revival" project

We should memorialize this caper with a village plaque to hubris and for the future generations to Trust but first Verify.Could have turned out quite differently without the hard and determined efforts to overcome those developers and some whom they called to dance to their opportunistic tune.

Reader says Village Manager, Human Resource, Village Engineer, Superintendent of Parks and Rec. are running this town not the new council

3 amigos

First of all why is Christopher Rutishause e-Mailing plans for the park to Bill Gilsenan? Why is Gilsenan getting involved in the park? Im tired of all the so called Demigod running this Village. Paul Vagianos, John Saraceno Ed Sullivan, Tom Hillman and now Bill Gilsenan. Their names were not on the Village ballot for council. This council has to watch very closely what goes on because there has always been a small group self proclaimed Demigod who try to run this town from behind the scenes. Simply voting out the 3 Amigos is not going to stop this because its Systemic.

VM, Assistant to the VM, HR, Village Engineer, Superintendent of Parks and Rec. and the above named are running this town not the new council. Poster just need to reflect back to some of the fiascos that have happen in the last 4 years to find the common thread. Wise up new Village Council and get a grip on this. Don’t let them distract you while they plan or plot.

Readers say Time to Target the Targeters buy Boycotting businesses that Support the over development and Destruction of Ridgewood

Itsgreektome theridgewoodblog.net

Reader says ,Without the blog there is political retribution. Several residents have been TARGETED with tickets, summonses, investigations, and more because they spoke out at meetings or on facebook. On the blog you can speak your piece without fear of retaliation from Aronsohn-Pucciarelli-Hauck-Sonenfeld. Of course they try like hell to guess who the anonymous posters are, but they are never sure. And of course the four of them post often, and we can always identify them.

Since so many have felt the sting of political retribution perhaps its time to share the pain ?

Reader says , “I’m boycotting our central business district over these stupid signs and the chamber of commerce.village is a mess and I refuse to support them any longer”

Since so many have been targeted ,some think its time to target back by Boycotting “Its Greek to Me” . While some readers think “Boycotting Its Greek to Me won’t do anyone any good. It won’t change the minds of people, it won’t stop Paul from living his everyday life. That is beyond childish. If you want to speak up and say something go to the village hall meetings, ask questions, get involved. And PLEASE make your OWN decisions. Stop listening to articles that don’t have the best interest for the reader nor the actual people involved.”

while others say, ” Boycotting the Greek place is easy for the simple reason that the food is certainly nothing to write home about, As for the rest of the CBD, more than 50% of the time it looks like it’s already being boycotted, so you probably won’t even see much of a difference if people did. But moving a few homeless folks into the garage should help with that issue.

Wake up, Ridgewood ! These clowns, just like those at Valley, are nothing more than opportunists trying to capitalize on fulfilling their business fantasies at the expense of an entire town. The very least one could do is get out there and vote against people who are going out of their way to wreck the great things Ridgewood has going for it.”

Others say “No boycotting just don’t go, period. Let the council know that you are not going to spend your money in a town where your concerns are not being addressed. The out of town people will have to subsidize the CBD.
No signs, no formal making a scene. Just stop going. And let the council know through e-mails why and how you feel.
Money always talks.”

BCIA garage is a county owned and operated parking garage , that is paid for by Village of Ridgewood taxpayers

Hudson Street Parking Garage

February 25,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood Nj, The fact is a BCIA garage is a county owned and operated parking garage , that is paid for by Village of Ridgewood taxpayers .The Village gives up all control of the garage and Village residents have no priority.

From the Bergen Record October 13th, 2014 , “The village has been in talks with the Bergen County Improvement Authority (BCIA) for more than a year about a partnership that would ideally result in the county building a 450-space parking garage at the site of the Hudson Street lot, where there are currently only a couple dozen 12-hour metered parking spots.

The county would own and operate the garage, which the village would pay for over the course of 20-30 years from the revenue from the garage.

To put the plan into motion, the freeholders and the county executive both need to sign off on the transferring of funds from the county’s planning department to the BCIA through the approval of the resolution.” https://www.northjersey.com/news/freeholders-set-vote-on-funding-study-for-ridgewood-1.1108474?page=1

Ridgewood NJ, Paul Vagianos’ has a letter in The Ridgewood News in which he supports BCIA involvement.
Attached is a clip from his comments at the 1/27/2016 VC meeting at which he repeatedly said “don’t go to the BCIA.”
When the letter is available on line tomorrow, can you run the letter along with the clip so people can see how he’s flip flopped, changed sides like a Gemini?
Thanks.

Ridgewood NJ, In an interesting turn of events Ridgewood ‘s own Paul Vagianos of Its “Greek to Me ” has announced his candidacy ,running as Democratic for State Assembly – District 40.

The campaign will host a major fund raiser on May 9th , Vagianos is relative unknown outside of Ridgewood. So the question is why didn’t our Mayor throw his hat into the ring? He has more name recognition and political background and he has developed a strong friendship with State Senator Kevin O’Tool . Could it our mayor Paul Aronsohn has other plans or is there some other issues like his unenthusiastic support for the Roy Cho campaign against Congressmen Scott Garrett or maybe even some potential fallout from the Bob Menendez  blow up with President Obama ?

To many the town question remains if he win will he take his planters to Trenton?
