Ridgewood NJ, as previously reported on or about May 15, 2021, the Glenwood Road Hill will be closed while the NJ Department of Transportation and NJ Transit improve the railroad crossing at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station. This closure will last for approximately 30 days. When Glenwood Road reopens, it will be a one-way street, down the hill.

Ridgewood NJ, at Wednesday Council meeting, Mayor Susan Knudsen read a written statement that, defending her position to reduce the role of emergency services and shift daytime emergency medical services coverage to the Ridgewood Fire Department. The latest budget calls for the addition of two more firefighters.

Ridgewood NJ, on Wednesday at the Village Council meeting chief financial officer Bob Rooney laid out the case for a 4.3 percent municipal tax increase .Rooney explained that a tax increase is needed due to lost revenues from COVID-19, consecutive years of modest or no tax increases, and the use of one-time, non-recurring revenues to balance the budget. The 52.9 million Village budget including the 4.3 percent municipal tax increase will be voted on by the Village Council at the May 12 meeting .

The hawk has moved into the trees behind the Religious Ed Building (former Convent) and can be seen perched on the chimney of that building or the school throughout the day. Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Crew participated in the 2021 City Championship Regatta with 15 entries, surpassed only by Conestoga Crew Club with 16. The event, hosted by the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association, was held without the usual tents and crowds in order to keep all participants as safe as possible under the circumstances. Ten boats advanced to the finals and 7 boats earned medals, including 1 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

Ridgewood NJ, state Senator Steven Oroho (R) , working with state Senator Paul Sarlo (D), from Wood-Ridge are also asking for New Jersey to join a lawsuit filed by New Hampshire with the U.S. Supreme Court over a similar situation with Massachusetts. New Hampshire has no state income tax, but does have commuters who work in Massachusetts and pay taxes there.
