Because the district proceeded with caution, there have been minimal interruptions due to classroom and building closures. The future looks promising, as vaccinations become more widely available and public health guidance begins to shift.
Ridgewood NJ, the high density housing continues to effect the Villager of Ridgewood central business district with taxpayers footing the bill. The main objection against the high density housing was all the ancillary coasts like police, fire, EMS, sewage , water, parking , schools and traffic .
Ridgewood NJ, The Village Council of Ridgewood has proclaimed the week of May 16th through May 22nd as Emergency Medical Services Week. In 2020, Ridgewood Emergency Services responded to over 1700 requests for assistance and provided 18,382 volunteer hours to the Village. Emergency Services is the largest volunteer agency in the Village of Ridgewood. The members are are ready to serve those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The members engage in countless hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance lifesaving skills. Emergency Services members were there for the residents throughout the Pandemic.
Ridgewood NJ, as previously reported on Wednesday the Council introduced a resolution that would prohibit “all classes of cannabis establishments, distributors and delivery services, including cultivators, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, cannabis testing facilities, medical cannabis dispensaries, clinical registrant or cannabis retailer, including alternative treatment centers.” A public hearing on the proposed ordinance is set for June 9.
Ridgewood NJ, at Wednesday nights Village Council meeting Village Manager Heather Mailander announced that Ridgewood Central Business District will be converted into a pedestrian mall for Saturdays and Sundays only, starting on July 10th and running through September 5th.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Sua Kim was selected as one of the winners of a Chromebook in our inaugural essay contest with the Bergen County Prosecutors Office. The Ridgewood Police thank all of the students who participated in the contests. Essays on the importance of the relationships between the Police and Community were inspiring to everyone. Thank you to the Ridgewood PBA for helping with the prizes.
Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Blog has just received official word that Village Manager Heather Mailander has hired Anthony (Tony) Merlino as Director of the Village’s Building Department. Tony replaces former Director Paul Kalksma, who retired effective May 1, 2021.
Ridgewood NJ, as the weather gets warmer it is important to remember that Stage II restrictions (2 days per week irrigation) were imposed in June 2016 and are still in effect in Glen Rock, Midland Park, Ridgewood and Wyckoff. Without these restrictions, the use of drinking water for irrigation will continue increasing toward levels that are unsustainable regardless of drought conditions. To reverse this trend, an ordinance was approved by the Village Council on April 12, 2017 to amend the provisions governing Watering and Water Emergencies in the Village of Ridgewood Code. Ridgewood NJ, After prudently shutting down all in-person activities for over a year the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce its return to live performances with a series of free pops concerts in Bergen county parks.
Ridgewood NJ, as previously reported on or about May 15, 2021, the Glenwood Road Hill will be closed while the NJ Department of Transportation and NJ Transit improve the railroad crossing at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station. This closure will last for approximately 30 days. When Glenwood Road reopens, it will be a one-way street, down the hill.
